Hi everyone.. Just got this PM.. Hoping the community can weigh in on this.. I have some thoughts but I would like to get other wiser opinions as well..

My store is on 1.38a with IH2. I thought I followed the directions, but apparently I did something wrong.

I uploaded the new files, and when I tried to get into admin
    I have the following error:

    Fatal error: Cannot redeclare bmz_clear_cache()
    in data/home/kachinas/websites/kachinaoutpost.com/docs/includes/
    functions/functions_bmz_io.php

Is there anything I can do that can allow me to get back into
    admin?

Unfortunately, as I don't know how to "test", this is a live store.
I did stop the advertising, and it's a relatively new site. I also had them backup the data on the server two days ago.

Maybe I should have uninstalled and reinstalled IH.

As a bit of background, I had uploaded the large images
480 x 640 thru IH, but Google has always said the site was too slow. So I actually did the large and medium images and optimized them. I didn't realize I should have cleared the bmz cache. One of the articles mentioned that the best way to do that is eliminate the folders in the bmz_cache, which may be what set this problem in motion.

I still have the older IH download which may have the older version of this file. Would that help, or make things worse??

Any help you can give me would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks so much.

My FIRST suggestion is to carefully remove all of the IH2 files and folders.

Then re-install the latest version of IH2. DO NOT install ANY of the "Optional Extras" files.. If you read the latest version if IH2s readme, you will understand why.

Unfortunately it depends on which older version of IH2 you are referring to. The version numbering from previous versions was pretty much non-existent. So you would have to know the date and author of the specific version for me to give you an answer to this question.. At least ONE of the previous versions was problematic. All that to say, I do not think it would be a good idea to rollback to an older version.

The latest version includes a few javascript improvements that have been posted in the forum, along with improved documentation, version numbering, and some cleanup of un-needed files/folder (not used by IH at all). There were no changes to core code at all.. Again the readme (which almost no one ever reads ) explains the changes found in the latest version..

What I would suggest is what I ended up having to do...

Remove all IH files altogether. I also removed all mods and all template files.

I then, started to reinstall ZC as if it were an upgrade, NOT uploading anything in the download or image folders. The minute I got to the zc_install folder, my store reappeared.

I have since reinstalled, very carefully all the templates and mods I needed. Backing up between EACH one.

Put it took going back to a plain, vanilla, ZC to get mine back.

Thanks so much to DivaVocals and southernlady for your suggestions. They appear two-fold, so I just want to verify I've "got it" before I continue.

I have always thought of the files on my computer as a backup, but needless to say (dah!) , when you make changes it isn't a backup at all!

The server has a separate folder I hadn't used, so I will use that as a test store, and upload the most current version of ZC in that folder and use the database backup so hopefully, I will end up with an actual test site.

On my live site, I need to delete all the IH files and folders that were uploaded and reinstall the latest version of IH 2.

Before I begin, do I have the correct order?

    Thanks sooo much!

Yes.. with a few additional points.. Normally you would store a backup of your site on your local computer.. and if you do have a TRUE backup of your entire store and DB, then rolling back shouldn't be an issue.. I assumed that you didn't have a working backup because often time I find that when folks treat their live store as a dev site that the backups needed to roll back ususally just aren't there..

Like I told you in my PM, you want to backup everything so that if it all goes wrong you can rolll back to the previous state.. (the DB and site backup add-ons are an EASY PEEZY way to do this) That said you REALLY should create a test site for testing mods BEFORE you apply them to your live site.. And you need to keep backups of this test site as well so that if you can roll back the test site if needed..

That said, best to remove IH2 and start over.. and let me add another caveat because I see it happen FAR TOO OFTEN (like just yesterday in fact). To remove IH2 remove ONLY the IH2 files. DO NOT DELETE your regular image folders.. You only need to delete the SPECIFIC files that are a part of the IH2 add-on... and YES while there are a few files stored in the images folder, you only need to remove the image files specific to IH2. Take your time and go through each folder ONE BY ONE and CAREFULLY remove the IH2 files.. Sorry to look like I'm yelling.. I'm not.. just emphasizing..

Well, I've carefully deleted all the ih and bmz files from my store, and the server. There were some php files in the new release that overwrote others, such as modules/pages/popupimage, and popup_inmage_additional
as well as, for instance the css stylesheet imagehover. I didn't delete those. I rechecked to see if I can get into the administration portion of my store, but I still have the same error message on a white screen. Amazingly enough, the front end of the store still operates, though the images are a bit large. Am I supposed to delete those as well since they were added in the IH update?

I was unaware of backup mods available until your email so I downloaded those. Are these files to be uploaded in the Zen Cart admin, includes etc folders as designated, keeping the file structure.
As it appears this backup is done from the administration panel, which I can't yet access, I'll try setting up a test site
    before attempting that.

If all of the IH files and those php files that were uploaded were deleted, would the administration area be accessible?

Any suggestions to that goal would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks so much.

DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT delete ANY of the product images inthe REGULAR image folders.. They are MANAGED by IH2, but not CREATED by IH2. I hope that makes sense.. You can link images to categories and products WITHOUT IH2. IH2 simply makes the process of adding additional product images easier, and it optimisez your images.. (that's what my earlier rant on this was about..)

The files that were overwritten by IH2 should be restored from default versions of those files..

I can assure you both of the backup apps are safe, but applaud the fact that you will TEST before rolling them out.. Follow the easy install instructions fo rboth mods and you should be all set.. If you've renamed your admin folder, you need to rename the admin folder for those mods as well.. If you need to talk more about the backup mods, start a new topic on it. (so we don't hijack this thread..

Possible if IH2 was the true cause of your issues accessing the admin.. The error message seems to indicate so, but it could be another mod..

Hi there. As someone who is stumbling their way through Zencart and making some slow progress. I'm always looking for enhancements and features to try out on my site but as a complete techno-dummy I find it easier to view and try features first before I decide whether I should add them to my project.

Is there a working site I can view Image Handler 2 and or Zen Lightbox so I can get a feel for both of these?

Image Handler isn't something you can "see" by looking at someone else's website. It is primarily an administration application so you can see it unless you are logged into the backend of someone's website. The best way to see it is to setup a test site, install it and see what it does for yourself.

As for Zen Lightbox, the better place to ask for sample links is on the Zen Lightbox support thread. What you will see is pretty much how most lightboxes work.. Try Googling "Lightbox" if you are just trying to see what a lightbox effect looks like..
