Gotcha read to quick!!! I am actually just going to tell her I cannot do it - I really have no desire to learn all this for one client. She was hacked and I am fixing all that...but her host told her she needs to upgrade WP too...not sure I would ever build it this way for a client....not seeing a benefit for them to have it integrated with the site as opposed to /blog....
Thanks for your response though!!!! :-)

Pros and cons to both.. It's truly a preference thing.. (Which is the ONLY reason why I continue to pursue finding an error/issue free method to execute blog embedding.)
You might want to check out this thread..
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=144224
There's information for various Zen Cart blog integration solutions posted that you might find useful..
WOZ has potential, but IMO the sheer number of issues I have noted/tested (and read about) do not make it a viable solution for all situations. Those issues have been well documented by myself and other members throughout this thread if you care to take a read through.. IMO if this mod was a better solution, then many of these quirks, incompatibilities (most notably SEO) and issues would not exist..
I am personally moving away from using WOZ for accomplishing blog embedding because of these problems.. I am working with someone to help me create Zen Cart sideboxes for me that will work with the Numinix blog embedding solution in particular. This will allow me to be able to decide between creating a site with an embedded blog or a site with sideboxes that link to a separate blog. For me it's all about being able to offer many options to clients and not having them being limited by my inability to offer alternate solutions..
HTH..
Thanks Diva! I find WOZ incredibly confusing and I am pretty well versed in Zen...but I cannot wrap my head around it at all. I have never done a client blog this way...and no I never will! Just as easy to make the design match the store....I do like the idea of the blog posts to the home page of the store though and that is something i will be doing with a site I am working on now.....
Thanks for our feedback...I already told the client I couldnt do it for her and actually shared your post with her, so thank you!

You're welcome.. WOZ is easy to understand if you install it on a test site and mess around with it yourself.. Here are better written instructions for installing it. (Due to the language constraints Hira's instructions can be somewhat confusing)

Use ver 1.3 NOT 1.4..
1.4 is buggy..
I used to feel the same way you do about blog embedding.. However, I hope you don't mind if I offer a small suggestion/piece of advice though?? Don't discount embedded blogs completely..
Instead of styling a blog to match the store's navigation, look, and feel, the blog content is a part of the store content. (Embedded as it were).. In terms of long term maintenance the BIGGEST benefit I see to executing a blog in this manner is that it will make maintenance much easier.. For example, in the event that the client wants to do a look & feel makeover, I only have to make those changes to ONE place (the store template) versus TWO (store and blog template).
That said I do not think an embedded blog is "required" or "necessary". However, I do want to give my clients options if that's what THEY want. (after all it is THEIR website) Which is why I have followed this thread and I am also looking into other methods for blog integration..
IMHO for a blog that is tied to a store to be REALLY effective, you do need more than a single link to the blog from the store and vice versa. I have managed to use the sideboxes from the WOZ a method to bring blog content directly into the store. By adding store content to the blog (by using a combination of template styling, navigation, and the WP links widget) I have been able to achieve crossing linking that ties the store and the blog together by more than look and feel.
As for WOZ?? IMO it has the potential to be a nice solution but IMO it has always had wonky issues which are exasperated by the fact that the module author's native language is Japanese and he has been unable to communicate effectively with the English speaking users of his module to correct these issues. The sideboxes from WOZ however work just fine, and this is why I adapted Hira's code to make them a standalone add-on and used just the sideboxes from WOZ to bring blog content into Zen Cart for my clients.
From following the posts on the Numinix forum, his blog embedding solution is troublefree and does not clash with SEO & RSS mods the way WOZ does. However the Numinix solution does not work with the sideboxes from WOZ. For me the Numinix solution would be perfect if I could use sideboxes similar to the WOZ sideboxes with it.. This is the one thing I would like to get working for me so I can offer MANY options for blog embedding to my clients.
Just some food for thought.. Good luck with your site development..![]()

I am getting the same error when trying to activate e-commerce plugin. I have my site setup separate and am using sideboxes for blog part. I have not activated zencart with blog sideboxes yet.
Every time I activate e-commerce from WP admin, my site goes blank with same error code.![]()
