Zen Cart 1.3.8a
Database Patch Level: 1.3.8
Fresh installation on 3 March 2010
No addons
I can view customer details in admin via Customers -> Customers with no problem. I can edit all fields and save the edited information EXCEPT for the "Date of Birth" field. If I make any amendments to this and click on "Update" the field is blank next time I go to view it and any information I enter into that field subsequently is lost when I "Update".
I have now customised my installation to use UK date format per:

However this problem was occurring BEFORE I modified any files.

Further to this, in Configuration -> Minimum Values I have the minimum value for "Date of Birth" set to blank (so as not to make it compulsory for a customer to enter their DoB). If I set it to something other than blank, then I can edit DoBs in admin with no problem and the edited date is saved.
I've found some forum postings from 3 or 4 years back reporting some similar problems but the outcomes seem to be inconclusive.

How about leaving a value in Minimum Values, and turning the DOB off in Admin - Configuration - Customer Details ?

Hi, Steve,
That would certainly allow me to enter and edit the DoBs via admin but of course it then wouldn't give the customer the option of providing their DoB during sign up.
Ideally I'd like the customer to (optionally) provide me with their DoB AND for me to be able to enter/edit it in admin.
Looking back through forum postings I get the impression that this is a long-standing bug that has never been addressed for whatever reason.

Actually with the settings you suggest, the DoB field doesn't appear in admin, either.
