It wasn't just a matter of correct installation at all.. There were files in the IH2 module which contained functions deprecated in PHP 5.3..

While it's great that IH2 works for you, others were having issues making the changes needed for IH2 to work with PHP 5.3 and the 1.3.9 versions of Zen Cart.. (This is VERY clear if you follow the IH2 support thread)

There were other improvements as well, and the readme (as well as the listing in the downloads) has the changelog overview if you would like to check that out..
