Ceon URI Mapping (SEO)

Just an update on the above. Reading around on this thread it seems that CEON URI deletes the generated URI's when a products is deleted. What I want to do is redirect a product to another product or category, I presume I could use the original url that zencart produces but how do I find this out, and won't there be 3 or more for each product, it would be great if I could use the CEOn generated URL's. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have one question, I'm removing a number of products from my store, for instance a colour may have been discontinued and I want to redirect the url for the deleted product to another product or category, how do I do this?

You'll need to manually add URIs to the database. Simply use PHPMyAdmin and add (Insert) a record...

1. Enter the uri for the discontinued product
2. Set language_id to 1 (or whatever your language ID is)
3. Set current_uri to 0 (very important!)
4. Set main_page to product_info (or the appropriate product type's info page)
5. Set associated_db_id to the new product's ID (the ID of the product you want to redirect the old product's URI to).
6. Select NOW() for date_added

That's how to create a "historical URI". It will redirect the old product's URI to the new/replacement one's.

To redirect to a category, use generally the same settings as above, but instead use "index" as the main_page and set the associated_db_id to the category's ID.

Easy!

Yes, no point having links to products which no longer exist, better to let the 404 page handle them!

Hi Conor,

Is there a feature or plans to allow the inclusion of the "Model" into the generated URI? We keep accidentally ending up with two products pointed at the same URI by having the same product name.

Thanks and keep up the good work, we attribute being at the top of our search terms to the URI management.

I use Ceon mapping with no problem on different zencart
Now I just install a new one 1.39g and CEON doesn't work

The problem is : if I enable the module all URL rewritten goes to 404 error

I check the database and URL are correctly created

I don't know where to search

I install the 3.8 version

You need to sort out your .htaccess file. Information about that can be found in the configuration documentation.

If you are still having trouble, please follow the installation instructions from the start to the end.

Hi,
I've found a slight issue which I'm trying to track down and am wondering if it is with the URI mapping mod.

If I go to a deactivated product, my cart doesn't show the 'page not found page', instead it still goes to the product page.
I've done some coding so the product page shows some appropriate text but it's still not right.

Does anyone else get still get to the product page even on a deactivated product?
