PayPal Standard IPN not showing up at checkout

The problem I am having is that paypal option never shows up as a method of payment on checkout. I have check or money order enabled as well and that shows up, but no paypal.

Version 1.39h. New install
I have checked and rechecked my eMaIL aDDresS and it is exact: [email protected]
I have checked with Pay Pal and they said nothing is wrong on their end.
I have set the instant payment notification to: http://www.knjcraftshoppe.com/ipn_main_handler.php
I have checked and reset the website payments preferences for automatic return URL to: http://www.knjcraftshoppe.com/index....eckout_process
Mode for paypal web services: www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr
There is no SSL on my site at this time.
I have cut and pasted the PDT Token from paypal to zencart.
Encrypted website payments are off
Tax and shipping settings are off in paypal.

I have tested with IPNCHECK v1.3.9 http://knjcraftshoppe.com/ipncheck.php
returned:
CURL RESPONSE RECEIVED - Communications OKAY
IPN TESTING - Response Received via CURL -- COMMUNICATIONS OKAY
IPN TESTING - Confirmation/Validation response with fsockopen(): FSOCKOPEN() RESPONSE RECEIVED - Communications OKAY
Default method likely to be used for communications is: CURL, with the fallback method being FSOCKOPEN if possible.
Script finished.

PayPal is saying that information is never getting to their server.

I have also removed and reinstalled the paypal standard module several times to no avail.

Your assistance would be much appreciated as there is something that I must be overlooking.

It could be a timeout problem. Your product images are waaay too big (file size, not dimensions). Most of them are over 1Mb.

Optimize your images and see if the problem goes away.

Also, switch to Paypal Express. Same thing to your customers, and much more stable.

What would be the best way to reduce the file size of the images? That is an area that is very confusing to me.

PayPal told me that customers had to have paypal accounts to pay with express, that standard allowed for credit card sales as well as paypal account holders. Am I missing something. It seemed to me that express if it offered the same benefits would be a whole lot better.

I found out how to reduce file sizes many are now in the 2-400 KB size now, just need to do all the admin stuff to swap them out.

You page is still WAY too loaded. Total size of Home Page: 3599269 bytes. That's 3.4MB........only on one page!!
I tried 4 different speed test sites before I could even get one to load your site without timing out or exceeding the maximum limit.

That's probably the same thing that's happening with your PayPal, as stevesh suggested.

Your product images are causing most of this, as they are HUGE......both file size and dimension. This image for example, is a Whopping 10,205.3 KB!! And you have 8 more images of this similar size on your Home Page.........oh......and 3 more loaded in the sidebox. It's nice to have a detailed product image, but 800 x 600 maximum should suffice.

You should definitely install Image Handler 2 to help optimize your images.

Reducing the file size of the images did not fix it. I am expecting something at Step 2 Payment Method along with the Check/Money Order choice which says PayPal and clicking on it would take me to PayPals site, and then once completed return me to my site.

Yes, but not NEARLY enough. IH2 will help you tremendously with this.........this is GREAT advice, and I'm sure anyone here will agree with me...........especially if the look at your site and your image sizes.

Have you tried using the PayPal Express Checkout? Better for you.......same for your customers.

Thank you for the tip, I have installed image handler and will work further on the images as their size would defiantly impact site anyway. Then test again.

Nice addition IH2, saved me much work, but did not resolve the problem. I am going to try the PayPal express now and see what happens. I really appreciate all the help thus far. I have been trying to get this working for 3 or more weeks as time permitted and was ready to give it up. Todays assistance has been most appreciated and gives me hope that I can get this working so I can possible get some sales eventually.

And it's not installed on your site. If you installed the files, you also need to go to Admin>Tools>Image Handler 2>admin. Then click install. If you done that, then something is wrong with it, as it's not working.
