Hi there,
How can I have a set of categories show depending on what category/product is being viewed?
Can it be done with this mod?
Thanks
Are you looking for the same functionality described in post 1575 above?
Will test the solution you posted for post 1575. Just wondering though, apart from showing the subcategories for the selected category, can we still keep showing what we currently have on the left hand side just below the subcategories? Looking for the same effect as in "circuitcity dot com".
All the best
The circuitcity.com setup is exactly what that post is talking about. What do you currently have on the left hand side?
By the way, re: post 1590, I have tested the functionality for having links replaced by foreground or background images, change on hover and highlight when current. This will be in v2.8; ask if you want to try it out now. The main holdup on v2.8 now is a seemingly intractable IE7 bug that will not let image-replaced categories lose the list-item indent. Nobody seems to have found a solution to it, just workarounds that won't work here.
I see what you mean about circuitcity - you have to go down another level to have the full set of categories display there. I helped someone a while ago with a setup similar to that (adi2009).
Hello,
At the moment, we have a different set of categories on the left hand side (Popular Brands etc.)
We need this to keep showing when no "top category" is selected so we are using the following setting:
define('CAT_BOX_ACTIVE_LEVEL', '2|0|1');//show only active cats, to first subcat level
The problem with this is that it also shows the "top categories" on the left sidebox. Is there any way to hide them?
We cant change the "active" setting to 0 or 1 as the doing so hides the "popular brands" categories.
And im not sure what you mean about going down another level to have the full set of categories to show below.
Do we need to install ChCategories?
Thanks
The full set of categories is only displayed on the circuitcity site when you go deeper than the first subcategories you get from the dropdown menu.
If you don't want other than top categories displaying in the sidebox outside of the active tree, you don't need chcategories. On the other hand, using chcategories can get you two sideboxes, one for top cats and one for the current tree. CSS can hide the unwanted levels in each sidebox, or you can code a special "case" for the active/level control function as I have shown here several times for different situations.
Hi! I've installed this mod.
Good!
I've a problem.
this is my uncollapsed menu:
CATEGORY ONE
|_SUB CATEGORY
|__SUB-SUB CATEGORY
then...
I wish that the word "category one" had a background (for example black, and now I've resolved with
"define ('CAT_BOX_HEADING_65','0|1|||category one|1');//no list break - divider and text heading - style 2)
but the word "category one" now is not clickable!
How can I do?
sorry for my bad english!!!!!![]()
