Default Limiting number of newsletter emails sent per hour?

    Hi Gang!

My host wouldn't let me send more than 170 emails per hour so, sending a newsletter to all my customers (over 2,000) using my ZenCart admin utility (Newsletter and Product Notifications Manager) that sends it all at once would be not for use.

I did it once and my host blocked my email for an hour (JOY!)

So wondering if there is a more advanced newsletter addon that will let me schedule a certain number of emails at a time?

    thank you!

This is advertising and a business expense

Why does one think that "unlimited" mailing is included with a hosting package??

If you were using the US mail to send a news letter it would not be free and one has to weigh the cost against the benefit

Use a mass mailing service like constant contact or mailchimp

They actually will make you look much more professional by using their attractivbe html email templates

You might want to take a peek at PHPList, it'll do what you want it to with throttling the emails. There's an email address export add on for Zen Cart to extract the email addresses and PHPList has a file import function.

    Thanks Kobra:
Yes, that makes sense. But since I am fairly a small guy with a reduced amount of subscribers for now, by default I would look into solutions that are more economical, go from there once the numbers grow and see the need for an pro mailing system.

Ted: Thanks a lot! I am installing that right now. I also looked into DAD Mail but they won't let you import existing and already subscribed emails.

    Thanks for the help!!

MailChimp and Constant Contact (see Recommended Resources link at top of this page) allow importing existing subscribers.

I know that mailchimp is FREE for up to 500 users/contacts
So you can use a "Pro" looking system economically right now
