From the demo I can't tell what version of Paypal OSComemrce is using - if selecting credit/debit card a popup screen comes up, like using Paypal Express.

I've had a look on the OSCommerce forums and can't find any mention of Paypal Commerce - there is an older thread talking about payment options to be included in the core installation for v4 but I don't see anything stating which platform it is running.

I'll note that the development of a payment module is a time-consuming process, between understanding the payment-provider's interface, coding and testing. When I'm requested to develop one, it's normally in the US$2000-4000 range, depending on the complexity.

So is there any movement on this at all then? or is it just going to be binned for UK/EU users of Zen Cart. If so it seems pretty pointless continuing with Zen Cart to be honest unless there is another solution.

Hi @Nick1973, how about raising a crowd funding event to cover the development cost for this new plug-in?

We first need to find out how much it is likely to cost and for that the developer involved would need to look at the Paypal link in the first post to see how much work is required. So we need to find a willing developer first, with Zen Cart experience.
It needs to be tested and ready to roll out by the start of October - the official switch over date the 3DS 2.1 is October 14th. I've no idea if this is long enough.

I contacted Paypal, hoping they would by now have something on the cards or at least a developer they could recommend.
First via the help pages on the developer portal. The answer I received is as follows.

Hi Gavin, I can see you are contacting us in relation to recommended web developers.
Unfortunately Gavin we wouldn't have any recommended web developers to integrate PayPal. If you are having any issues doing this though you can always contact PayPal's Merchant Technical Support team and they can help assist with the integration.

I understand you are having an issue with finding a shopping cart that is 3DS Compatible.
I can appreciate this issue is frustrating and I do apologize for any inconvenience.

You are correct, I didn't see any current documentation on Zen Cart that indicates that PayPal Commerce or PayPal Checkout with Smart Payment buttons was available at this time. PayPal Express Checkout (Which is Available on Zen Cart) is 3DS compatible. We made sure that PayPal Hosted pages were 3DS Compatible before the cut off. However, the card payments are Guest Checkout rather than Direct Credit Cards.

So Paypal themselves have no interest in supporting Zen Cart integration and recommend switching carts.
At this point it is so close to the cutoff date I don't even know if we have time to do that. I will spend this weekend installing an Opencart store and try out the demo migration process with Litextension.

Its a very big shame :-(. I don't really want to leave zencart, but I know customers do like to use their cards more than paypal.

I have enquiries in with two developers who claim to be Zen Cart experienced and payment gateway integration specialists.
I'm hoping to hear back soon with quotes/lead times.
