    Default Forwarding from old shop to new?

    I recently created new web shop, http://nonelectronics.com/catalog, based on an old shop, http://nonfinite.org/catalog.

    I want anyone following a link to old products at nonfinite.org/catalog to automatically forward to the same product at nonelectronics.com/catalog.

    Is this possible? If so, how do I implement this change?

    If it isn't, is there at least some way I can have all pages from the old shop forward to the nonelectronics main page, nonelectronics.com?

    Two ways, the first is BEST and most efficient!

    1. Have your DNS provider Forward all requests from domain 1 to domain 2
    2. A temporary solution would be to create an index.html or default.html and place it in your document root with something like this

    Code:
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">
    <html>
    <head>
    <title>nonelectronics.com/</title>
    <meta http-equiv="REFRESH" content="0;url=http://www.nonelectronics.com/catalog"></HEAD>
    <BODY>
    If our new site does not load in 5 seconds <a href="http://www.nonelectronics.com/catalog"> Please Click Here </a>!
    </BODY>
    </HTML>
    adapt it as you need to work for you. It's the REFRESH tag that does all the work for you and most 21st Century browsers will auto re-direct. Search engines may just forget you though.

    The DNS change is still your best bet.

    I see you already did option 2, now try option 1

    Here is a suggestion
    PHP Code:
    <?php
    // index.php on old site
    // Get the requested page and redirect to new site url

    header('HTTP/1.1 301 Moved Permanently');

    header('Location: http://nonelectronics.com/catalog/'.basename($_SERVER['REQUEST_URI']));

    ?>

    The issue with option 1 would be that non-shop portions of nonfinite.org would go to dead space at nonelectronics.com...

    Is it possible to forward just http://nonfinite.org/catalog/xxx urls to it's counterpart, http://nonfinite.org/catalog/xxx, or is it all or nothing? For example, nonfinite.org/gallery takes you to nonelectronics.com/gallery = bad.

    Is this needed on every page of the old cart? Or where does this go? Sorry for my ignorance.

    Put this portion in the index.php which should be placed where ever the old cart was placed.
    I no longer provide installation support on forum for all my modules. However, if there are real bugs with the modules please feel free to contact me

    I am moving our site from /shop/ to the root, and trying this 301 redirect method. I renamed the old ZC index.php to index.php.zc137.bak, and put this file in as index.php:
    PHP Code:
    <?php

    // index.php on old site
    // Get the requested page and redirect to new site url
    // from skipwater - modified by gjh42 20081212

    header('HTTP/1.1 301 Moved Permanently');

    header('Location: http://www.futurelics.com/'.basename($_SERVER['REQUEST_URI']));

    ?>
    Firefox is giving an error that "the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete".

    The old address is http://www.futurelics.com/shop/
    and the new is http://www.futurelics.com/

    Any ideas why this is not working?
