HOW customizable are these templates?

I'm looking at this one: http://(sorry, site offline)/138/index.php?main_page=index&template_dir=zencart_zen

However, my husband has said that he would like to have "boxes" that surround the catagories, etc. such as in this one: http://(sorry, site offline)/138/index.php?main_page=index&template_dir=mostlygrey

Use the one you are looking at and after it is installed edit the css/stylesheet.css file for it and find this and add what is highlighted

They're very customizable.

And to see that I go where? I am in Admin. Looked at Tools and Template Selection, but didn't see any of that on there now for the current template:huh:

Do you have Zen Cart unzipped on your computer (not on your website)? If not, you can download it and unzip it. It doesn't have to be able to run. It helps if you can see the folder/file structure.

The templates follow the same folder/file structure.

If you don't have an FTP client, Filezilla is a good free one.

A tip - if your host uses CPanel (or maybe if they don't), I usually upload the Zencart zip file to whatever folder I want Zencart in on the server, then go to the CPanel File Manager and select the zip file and click on Extract in the top menu. Much faster than uploading all the files after unzipping on your local computer, and no corrupted files.

Ok, it's all there. I've downloaded the FileZilla and the ZenCart so it's now on my computer. I still don't know where to go to see the FTP though. I'm sorry:blush:

Oh goodness! So I was supposed to somehow download those into my hosting place? This is going to be too much for me, I just know it:(

I haven't used Filezilla in a while, but at the top of the page after you run it, there should be input boxes for:

site: (the url of your site without the www)

user name
password (These will be the same as your hosting account Cpanel or other control panel user name and password).

If those are right, connect and you'll see your local files in one window, and your remote (site) files in the other, similar to Windows Explorer. You can drag and drop between the two.

Usually (but not always) the 'root' directory of your cart will be public_html

This stuff is easy (I do it) once you grasp the big picture and do it a few times.

Apparently I downloaded the FileZilla, but I didn't run it. See....I told you I was new at this:blush: Did that now, and I am in my hosting control panel, in the file manager. I see the public_html. I see a bunch of other stuff too.

Are what you telling me, is that I need to get zen cart to this place as well? If so, can you walk me through that?

You don't need to upload Zen Cart to your server. Just unzip it on your local drive. You already have Zen Cart up and running on your website.
