I can't seem to add any attributes =?

I know I had problems before with attributes showing up on EVERYTHING. Someone helped me by turning it all off, but now I can't seem to get them to work.

Here's the product I'm working on: http://www.trueharttreasures.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=67&products_id=126. I'm trying to add options for two different finishes. I've gone into the attribute controller, added the finish name, added the value, then gone back and tried to insert it but I keep getting this message:> Error Attribute Option and Option Value Do NOT Match - Attribute was not added -

What am I doing incorrectly?

It sounds like you may have added a finish option value which doesn't belong to the finish option name. Are they displaying the same option names in the select boxes on the attribute controller page? The option names should be in the left box, and then repeated EXACTLY in the right box within [].

It may be easier to create a new option name, and then add new option values from scratch so you know that they are pairing correctly.

First, I apologize if my post should be a new thread, but I've been trying for an hour to post a new thread and no link to do that will show up. I am logged in.

OK. I am using version 1.3.7 of Zen Cart and Mac OSX4.11.
I have read and reread the turorial at:

I have done everything it says to do.

Here is the problem. I am trying to set the simplest possible attributes. Most of my items are one of a kind, so they don't need attributes, but I have a ton of shoes that will need a color attributt. All I need is color. Prices and weights will not change. I am not adding images for the color options. All the colors will be shown on the product page and they only have to select the color from a drop down.

I set up the option name "color" and set up all the available colors. Now I am in the attributes controller. I selected the category and the product. I chose the color, selected. I did not put anything into the prices and weights boxes.
I selected yes on "display only", left all the other flags set to no. I clicked the "insert" button. The page reloaded, but the page says in green print, "No Attributes Defined for Produce ID #83,etc."

I have repeated the process about 30 times with the same result.

Am I missing some important thing? Must I have an image for this to work?

beside choosing Option Name ( color ) , you also need to choose Your Option values ( red , green, black ,etc ) as well before inserting..

ZC will not insert those value if is not selected, even if you only have one option value in your controller.

I did select the value. It still says no attributes have been defined. It shows my color choices as the possible option values, but, when i select one for the product, nothing happens.

Where you are selecting RED, there is another box to the LEFT of it, which will have COLOR in it. This is the OPTION NAME. You must select both the OPTION NAME - COLOR, and teh OPTION VALUE - Red [Color]

Only if you select both of these will the attribute be added.

Thank you. I figured that out after much trial and error.Then I had to go out for a doctor appt. and couldn't work on it any longer. Some of the time I was selecting "color" and it would deselect, but anyway, that part is working, but now I'm having another problem, but I think I saw someone discussing it in another thread. I'll search to see if ther is a solution.
Now, when I go to the shopping page as a customer and select the color, ie.purple or whatever, I get a message that I have entered an invalid option and the item won't go into the cart. I installed the Stock by Attributes mod so it would calculate how many of each color I have available. I don't know whether the problem is with the mod or the regular zen functons. I will study it this evening when I have a chance to get back to working on my site. If I can't find the answer, I'll post here again.

I give up. I thought I saw a post yesterday with my problem, but I can't find it now. Here is what is happening.

I have set my options for color. I select a color (purple), click add one item to the cart. A yellow error box pops up with this message:
Please correct the following:
On the Option for: color You picked an Invalid Selection: Purple

It does not add the item to the cart. It is probably something simple I'm missing, but I can't figure out what. I would appreciate if anyone knows what causes this and how I can fix it, please.

I am using ZenCart 1.3.7 and have installed the Stock by Options mod.

Sounds like you marked the Attribute as Display Only and Display Only can only be Displayed and not selected ...

The first time I had them marked as display only. Then, as I explained, I went back and changed that to NO. That's when I got the second error.
However, in the tutorial or a thread referring to it, someone said we needed to mark it as display only in or else the cart would let people add the item to the cart even when it was sold out. I'm pretty confused about that, but I did go back and set the display only to no, but the problem didn't solve.

Do you have any other suggestions? I'm stumped. I have a lot of little shoes to list and I need those color options.

I did at first, but then I changed it. As I explained, I got the second error after I unmarked the attributes as "display only"

Can you think of anything that can cause that second error? It showed up on the shopping cart page.

When I go to the product you posted it all appears to be working fine ...

You have the Units set to 5 ... if you order 1 you are not ordering in Units of 5 so you get a warning ...

Maybe I am not understanding the units. I have a total of 5 of that style. 2 are clear, 2 are pink and one is purple. I set the quantity at 5 in the product description. In the Stock by Attributes I set the number of each color.
Where should I put the number of products? I'm not sure where I've set it wrong.

It looks like that was it. I changed the units to 1 and it fixed it, but I still don't understand how they are interpreting "units". I thought that was the total number I have to sell. Does "units" mean a minimum they need to order?

I buy a 6pack of Pepsi ... it comes in Units of 6 (6 cans being a six pack) ...

I want to sell Roses ... I want you to buy them by as many as you want but I want you to buy them by the dozen, the unit is 12 ...

I sell Widgets ... I want you to buy a Minimum of 8 in Units of 2 so you can only buy:
8, 10, 12, 14, 16, etc.

I sell widgets ... I want you to buy in Units of 3 up to a Maximum of 12, you can buy:
3, 6, 9 or 12

Does that help?

I haven't a clue what the Stock Attributes does, I can just tell you how the Minimum, Maximum and Units work in Zen Cart ...

Thank you SO much :hug:. I've been banging my head over this since yesterday. The stock by attributes mod lets one set how many are available in each attribute (color in my case) so that a customer can't buy more than I have to sell of each color.

I really appreciate all you gurus who help all of us newbies. Shopping carts are great, but what a learning curve.
