Welcome email not sent with COWOA, fast & easy checkout, easy signup/login mods

i am using v1.3.8

all emails work fine except for my welcome email for new accounts. it does not get sent to customer. i get an admin copy but customer receives nothing.

i don't rcv any error mssgs and they do not show up in email archiver. only the admin copies show.

i have searched forums thoroughly and can't find a solution or even a hint as to where my problem may reside.

i have seen lots of people that want this turned off and i am wishing mine worked! i had hoped following one of those threads would lead me to something but that didn't happen.

any ideas?

what i don't understand is why all other emails work. order confirmation, account changes, if i send from admin, etc. they all work except the welcome mssg.

so i don't believe it can be that setting since it would affect all other mssgs.

I suspect it's likely related to a bug introduced by one of the many addons you've apparently installed, since at least 2 of them deal with the create-account process specifically: http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/search.php?do=finduser&u=72649

but i would not say "many" i have installed 2. Fast Easy Checkout and Easy Sign Up and Login.

You've discussed COWOA and Easy Signup, of which both muddle with the standard create-account process.

I would suggest setting up another store in another folder+database with no customizations, and test all the functions there. Then see whether those emails are sent correctly. That'll show you where problems likely lie. Then take appropriate action to resolve any problems that could be tied to addons you've installed.

Or you could start uninstalling things ... but a new install is always cleaner and is a purer test.

i have been considering your suggestion already and was trying to avoid that. i have indeed had several issues installing those 2 add-ons but i have managed to solve all of them but this one. i was hoping someone could point me in the right direction as far as what code to be looking for etc...

i am suppose to have this new cart posted Friday and going backwards did not sound conducive to that.

You could try reading the support threads for those addons and see whether the problems you're experiencing have been discussed there, and possible resolutions.
But, I'd be inclined to start a new FTP upload (to different folder) while reading, just for peace of mind.

i have read the forums at Numinix and there is nothing there to help me. i have posted my problem in the forum and hope to get an answer but....u know how that goes.

i will most likely follow your suggestions just to try to move forward. this is the last big hurdle i have to clear to get posted friday.

Did you ever figure this out? I seem to be having similar issues. I can do Tools>Send Mail just fine. But my order conformation, welcome email and admin email do not work.. Have linkpoint in debug mode and do get those emails. Turned linkpoint off debug but still no email.

Same here. Installed the mod this afternoon. Yesterday i have checked if customers received email. They did. it was completely working. Today, no email. All works well, but no welcome email is sent.

Please anyone that has a clue, report this here. Couple people that are having this problem with this mod.

I installed it last week in a clean Zencart installation, and had the same problem. I didn't have time then to mess with it, so I wiped out the Zencart installation and started over.

Since there aren't any (that I can find) posts about this in the mod's support thread, I'm assuming it's a bug that slipped in when the FEC and COWOA were merged to create the latest version.

Currently numinix replied to me that they are looking into this problem.
God knows how long this will take.

same problem here - ZC1.3.8a, latest FEC 1.31 and ESL installed. No account confirmation or order confirmation emails sent out. Email can be manually sent from admin without problems so email setup is fine. Will post anything I find out.....

Update...
I guessed the problem had something to do with create_account.php from the FEC ESL install (includes>modules>YOUR TEMPLATE>create_account.php). Had a look at the code but couldn't figure out the problem.
However, I just deleted the file so the system reverts back to the original create_account.php in includes>modules and my account confirmation email and order confirmation email is now working fine.
It doesn't seem to have affected anything else but that may just be to do with my particular setup. I was lucky you might be to....

It's not a real fix but it will do me until someone figures it all out.

Try comparing an older version of the mod with the new one, you should see the differences. I am using an older version of this mod (before it was merged with COWOA) and have no issues with the email

Just a note, COWOA doesn't send account confirmation emails since they are checking out without an account. The admin will still receive the email, though. We use these emails to track which are COWOA and which are true accounts, it's easy for us to see this since we don't offer the sign up discount coupon, the COWOA email still has that paragraph in it while the regular account emails do not.

Numinix was supposed to come up with a solution last week.

I also have the problem of Welcome emails not being sent (and all other emails working fine), but mine used to work for a while after installing FEC with COWOA and ESL. It somehow got messed up after I tinkered with the Newsletter option...it's been a month now and I still haven't figured it out.

2. You said "welcome emails not being sent". Are you sure they're not sent? Or just that they don't seem to arrive? There's a huge difference. Try enabling the Email Archiving feature, and use the Email Archive Manager addon to see whether the emails are actually sent or not. If they're sent without error, they'll show in the archive. And, after they leave Zen Cart the actual delivery is up to the mail servers ... so any non-delivery should be tracked down at the mailserver level, perhaps in conjunction with your hosting company.
