I'm trying to achieve the same thing as Sharki (I've already tried PMing him/her to get some info), and I'm not looking to cross-post as I have already replied to http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?p=880981another thread[/quote], but it's not regarding user permissions, although they are tied together in terms of the end-result. I'm just hoping that someone here may still have this thread on a notifier and pop back in with any insight!
I have a ZC install and here are my required scenarios:
-
both registered and unregistered users must be able to browse the store with NO PRICES, add items to the cart and submit it as an estimate to get a call-back from the staff for a quote on their total
-
users can register but will not get authorized by defauly to see store prices, they must be approved by staff
-
authorized users must be able browse the store WITH PRICES, add items to the cart and submit the order as a PO
There is NO delivery as all items are pick-up in-store only.
I've done some hacking around to the core files and been able to figure out some of the items, but it's messy and upgrades (such as the 1.3.9b patch) require me to do a compare-and-merge so as to get the benefits of the update without losing any work I've already done.
For those who are wondering why I'm looking to do this ... it's a system I'm putting together for a client who operates a small nursery (garden) supply store and they don't want customers off the street being able to place orders (but they can generate a "shopping list" and quote for an estimate), whereas established business parteners (landscapers, gardeners) can make purchase orders which will be processed by the staff.
Any ideas / thoughts would be appreciated.
