EZ Pages customisation issue

Hello,

I'm having troubles customising my Ez Pages. Through

Tools > Define Pages Editor

I first selected the HTML test editor area, followed by the Contact Us page in the drop down menu. I typed 'Contact Us' in bold and on the next line 'I am testing the contact us ez pages file' and when I look at the result on my web page;

http://qnecomputing.com.au/index.php?main_page=contact_us

The result is

<p><strong>Contact Us</strong></p><p>I am testing the contact us ez pages file</p>

I've tried using different browsers and searching here through the faq, but haven't been able to find a solution to my problem.

adem.i:

zencart version: 1.3.9g
That was a bug in that version.
Upgrade to the latest version and that problem will go away.

Re: EZ Pages customisation issue

It's documented in the Zen Cart files:

  1. Download the v1.3.9h zip file by using the download link on the home page of zen-cart.com
  2. Unzip it
  3. Go into the /docs/ folder you just extracted, and view the Changelog for v1.3.9h by double-clicking it. It'll open in your browser.
  4. Look at the list of changed files, and replace those files on your site with the ones from the folders you just extracted. If you had customized any of those specific files, redo your customizations in them.
  5. Consider reading the What's New for v1.3.9h also in the /docs/ folder, since it tells you how to upgrade and what's changed between versions.

Oh, and be sure to make a COMPLETE backup of all your site files and database before you begin. Use your FTP program for backing up the files, and phpMyAdmin for your database: https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=103

There's lotsa info on these essential skills if you look for it.

Re: EZ Pages customisation issue

Thanks for your quick response. I modified each of the files listed in the following file:

changelog-v1-3-9h.html

I just have one concern though... I wasn't quite sure what to do with this line

/zc_install/ ... assume all of /zc_install/ has changed

I was pretty worried that the modifications performed on my site (i didn't do them), would disappear if i was to extract the contents within zc_install and over rite the includes folder (classes, functions, modules etc).

Re: EZ Pages customisation issue

None of the zc_install folders/files are needed after installation or upgrading is finished, and none of them directly overwrite files outside of /zc_install/; they only cause other files to be modified if you RUN zc_install. As you have already replaced the changed files, you should be done and can delete the whole /zc_install/ folder.

Re: EZ Pages customisation issue

Statements like this:

define ('DIR_FS_SERVER', 'whatever');

They all get customized to your cart location when you install, and if a stock version replaced your custom version, it would fail to work.

Re: EZ Pages customisation issue

adem,
zen cart version 139h, for security reasons you have to change the admin folder name and then edit the two configure.php to match..

What does "not able to access" look like?
Are you getting "page not found"?
Are you getting "please rename your admin folder"?
Are you getting a blank page? https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=82
Are you getting a login screen but being told the password is wrong?
etc

Re: EZ Pages customisation issue

@haredo, I changed the admin folder name to 'ademcpanel' (i know i'll probably have to change it again later since i posted this in the forum), and made the following changes within configure.php

define('DIR_WS_ADMIN', '/ademcpanel/');

define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_ADMIN', '/ademcpanel/');

define('DIR_FS_ADMIN', '/home/users/web/b378/ipg.qnecomputingcomau/ademcpanel/')

Re: EZ Pages customisation issue

A quick search of the Tutorials/FAQ section for "500 internal server error" brings up this article: https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=63 ... which addresses many factors including the likely case of having certain files set to 777 permissions contrary to most hosting server security rules.

Sorry the service representative gave me the wrong link. I found them..

The first 1/3 of the text (the only legible part);

Re: EZ Pages customisation issue

So, the first two lines of that are relevant, and reveal that someone is clicking a link from this thread to access your admin which points to "/admin", and your server is 301 redirecting that to "/admin/" where it encounters the 500 error.
Unfortunately the logs they're sharing with you are not showing the details of the error itself. It only shows that it's occurring.

As I said previously, most likely you've got files set with too high permissions and the server is denying access because of that.

Re: EZ Pages customisation issue

I just went into my file manager, permission was set to 755.

%%BBCODE_CODE_0%%

I tried enabling all permissions and receive the following error

The server encountered an unexpected condition which prevented it from fulfilling the request.
The script had an error or it did not produce any output. If there was an error, you should be able to see it in the error log.

So then i reset them back to 755 and was receiving the same http 500 error.

Apart from the 'ademcpanel' file permissions, are there any more i need to change?

Re: EZ Pages customisation issue

I'm not sure if this is completely related, but i read somewhere that in versions 1.3.9x, a debuggers is located within the installation and all debug files are located in the 'cache' folder. The latest txt file has the following error
