Re: PayPal (7) couldn't connect to host

Hello. I'm hosted by 1and1 and this same issue occurred this morning several times. Haven't made any changes to the site in months.

Any instructions for 1and1 users? My Curl status is set to fals.

Re: PayPal (7) couldn't connect to host

If the problem is intermittent, then you really need to talk to your host and find out what is happening with your server.

Re: PayPal (7) couldn't connect to host

This problem isn't intermittent at all. It stopped working this morning and hasn't worked since. This has never happened before.

I called 1and1 this morning and they said they were going to work on it and get back to me. After several hours I didn't hear from them so I called back and I'm on the phone with them now. I've lost 26 possible orders now and still counting.

Exactly. It's a 1and1 server configuration problem.

I've heard almost as many bad things about 1and1 as Godaddy.

Re: PayPal (7) couldn't connect to host

Party Craze:

hosted by Crazy Domains i spoke with the host about this issue they say its not there end.Of course that's what they'd say.
But, the problem is between their server and PayPal. So they need to get involved with fixing it.

Use this CURL testing tool and report back the results:
http://www.zen-cart.com/showthread.php?65680-PayPal-Communications-Response-Testing-Tools&p=434187#post434187

That link also contains more explanation about the cause of (7) errors.

Also get your host to do a traceroute from your server to PayPal's server (the paypal server name is in the results shown by the curl test described in the link above) and have them give you the results. Post the traceroute results here.

Re: PayPal (7) couldn't connect to host

Results came back OK? Curl Test Below

IPNCHECK.PHP - Version 1.3.9

CURL RESPONSE RECEIVED - Communications OKAY
IPN TESTING - Response Received via CURL -- COMMUNICATIONS OKAY

IPN TESTING - Confirmation/Validation response with fsockopen(): FSOCKOPEN() RESPONSE RECEIVED - Communications OKAY

Default method likely to be used for communications is: CURL, with the fallback method being FSOCKOPEN if possible.

Script finished.

Re: PayPal (7) couldn't connect to host

That was the ipncheck.php script. It tests communications for IPN traffic, not for Express Checkout.

What about the curltester.php script? That script tests communications used by Express Checkout and Website Payments Pro.

Re: PayPal (7) couldn't connect to host

Your host needs to fix that problem. Give them that link and the output.

Seriously? Are you saying they're refusing to fix the server communication problem that "suddenly" happened on their servers out-of-the-blue?
