USPS shipping module stopped working 9/9

Version 1.3.8a

USPS module was working fine until today and now it's giving error :

"We are unable to find a USPS shipping quote suitable for your mailing address and the shipping methods we typically use.
If you prefer to use USPS as your shipping method, please contact us for assistance.
(Please check that your Zip Code is entered correctly.)"

or the page is timing out and not loading.
I've removed it for now and the page is at least loading with the flat rate shipping i've turned on.

I've tried uninstalling & removing and reinstalling it fresh and it's still not working. I've searched all over the forums and Addons and can't find help with this.

Yep that was the first thing i did and it didn't work.

I uninstalled, deleted then downloaded the Jan 2nd version, uploaded it and installed it.
still didn't work.

What is the Weight?

What is the Ship From?

What is the Ship To?

What are the settings in the Configuration ... Shipping/Packaging ...

What are the settings if you go to Modules ... Shipping ... and click on USPS in the right hand panel?

most packages are less than 2lbs

This error was showing for my zip code and every other zip code that tried I mad multiple customers email me with this issue.

Do you have UPS installed? If not, can you install it just to see if that one is working?

What is the Ship to Address that you are using?

Could you go to the Tools ... Developers Tool Kit ... and in the bottom input box enter:
USPS GXG Envelopes

select the Catalog from the dropdown and click Search ...

What comes up?

I installed UPS and it works fine no problems.

Do you have any other Shipping Modules installed?

If so, do you use Sort Orders on 1 or more of these?

If so, be sure to set a Unique Sort Order on each of your shipping modules ...

Nope, usps was the only one (until now when it's disabled and I have flat rate turned on).

The only changes i've made recently were to sales tax and that doesn't have anything to do with shipping. No files were changed or moved on the server.

I think zen cart is trying to play a cruel joke on me. I just reinstalled it and it's now working....:|

I am starting to wonder if your hosting provider is having issues with the USPS server ...

Have you contacted them to see if there are issues with the USPS server from them or with a port being closed?

I'm going to call them right now. I'll let you know how it turns out.
