Backup MySql not visible in Tools menu

I have installed Backup MySql to exact specs and it will not show up in the Tools menu. I deleted the entire ZC and updated to ZC 1.51 and reinstalled everything, and still nothing. I search the entire forum for an answer and nothing works.
I use Blue Host and they seem to support everything that is required. So after 3 days now I have not been able to get this plugin to show up. What am I missing?

Re: Backup MySql not visible in Tools menu

Which "version" of the plugin did you install?
If you used the version designed for v1.3.x, then it won't show up on v1.5.x

Re: Backup MySql not visible in Tools menu

There are a few files and folders in the zip. What exactly did you do with each of them?

Re: Backup MySql not visible in Tools menu

According to the instructions I did a direct transfer of the Includes folder into my Includes folder (under the main admin) and also transferred the single file, backup_mysql, into my main admin folder.

Re: Backup MySql not visible in Tools menu

For the version designed for v1.5.1:

Basic plugin instructions:

  1. the files must be copied into place
  2. then you must login to your admin. This activates the built-in auto-install of menu capability.

Basic admin menu instructions:
3. then if the user account you logged into isn't the one with SuperUser privileges, you'll need to login as whoever has SuperUser privileges, then go to the Admin Access Management menu, go to the Admin Profiles screen, and grant access to other profiles as desired.

Re: Backup MySql not visible in Tools menu

The files are copied into the exact location on my server where they are supposed to be. I'll be happy to send a print screen if that helps.
I've logged into my admin several times and checked the Tools menu and nothing is there.
I have SuperUser status in my user account. There are no other profiles under User Profile.
Your written instructions have been very easy to follow; don't know why it's not showing up in my Tools menu.

Re: Backup MySql not visible in Tools menu

You have another forum thread talking about identical symptoms with another plugin.

Maybe you've installed yet another plugin that's broken the menu system? Something designed for an older version?

Re: Backup MySql not visible in Tools menu

I did a clean install of ZC 1.51 and and added the latest version, 1.5 of Backup MySql right away. I had done this previously and had the same results. That's why I deleted everything off my server and started fresh, even re-naming and re-installing my data files. I also changed my Core FTP program to the commercial WS FTP in case there was a glitch there. I'm short of contacting my hosting company, but usually there response is it's a software problem.

Re: Backup MySql not visible in Tools menu

Just remembered. I did install Backup_zc 1.1 first. No entry in Tools menu. Then I installed Backup MySql. Also no entry in Tools menu.

Re: Backup MySql not visible in Tools menu

Yes I have my admin account set to super user. I have tried to logout and log back in but it still doesn't show up in tools. I installed a plugin the other day and had to run a SQL patch. For some reason it seems like auto install is not doing anything when I login.

Re: Backup MySql not visible in Tools menu

OK. This is all I can do.
I went ahead and spoke to Blue Host Customer Service. As I suspected there was nothing they could do. It was a software issue, they told me.

I found out that Blue Host has Simple Scripts, and they allow you to install Zen Cart directly from their server. Great! No way I can mess up if they do it. So I reinstalled Zen Cart directly through Blue Host. They only had version 1.50 so I installed it. Checked it. It came up fine. I did not upgrade to vs 1.51. I immediately installed backup_zc_v1.1 according to its instructions. I then logged back into admin, Tools menu, and it was not there. I then installed backup_mysql_plugin_v1-5 and went through the same cycle. And it was not in the Tools menu. I didn't even bother trying to install chaddro-EasyPopulate-4.0-f4314dc.

I've done everything under the sun, according to the instructions you gave me; and have spent an awful lot of time, and nothing works.
If none of these work when the Zen Cart 1.50 is loaded by the hosting company then something is really amiss either in the plugins themselves or the instructions.

Re: Backup MySql not visible in Tools menu

Make sure that you are copying, from the addon, the directories:
/includes

to your directory:
/your_secret_admin_dir/includes

and the file:
backup_mysql.php

to your:
/your_secret_admin_dir/backup_mysql.php

I mention to check this as I just did a quick install and was not really paying attention ... and I goobered and copied it to my Catalog (store) /includes and main directory ... silly me ... I write the code and should not make this silly goober user errors ...

Re: Backup MySql not visible in Tools menu

Dog-blasted! It worked. All this time, just like you, I was putting the files in the main direction and its Includes folder, instead of the Catalog (store) directory. You're a real chum! Thanks!!! :D

Re: Backup MySql not visible in Tools menu

That worked great! Thank you so much! I will remember that for next time if something like this happens again.

Re: Backup MySql not visible in Tools menu

Until I did that ... and thought gads what a klutz I am ... did it occure to me how easy it was to make that mistake as the directory name was so specifically spelled out to help us all not make that error ... we blew right past it until it failed ... and I knew the thing loaded in the simplest way, as DrByte wrote the thing for us mentally challenged coders and users alike ...

Re: Backup MySql not visible in Tools menu

I'm just happy to have it working.
And much thanks to Ajeh recognizing the problem right off.

Appreciate your work, DrByte. Looking forward to making good use of your plugins. :D
