Setting up multiple website to one Paypal account

So, I'm almost there. I have added a second email address to my PayPal account, I have set two custom payment pages for each site and set in the payment mod setting on each site. Everything works fine but when I place an order on the secondary site, the paypal receipt sent to the customer has the primary sites email and web address all over it!

Is there a way to customise this bit? My customers will be completely confused with this.

I spoke to PayPal "support" but they seem useless and have no idea even how to set up the custom payment pages so getting no where fast with them.

Has anyone ever set this up so each business is completely custom and seperated??

Cheers
Phil

Re: Setting up multiple website to one Paypal account

Save yourself a lot of time and effort by having two bank accounts. One for each business. This will make your accounting easier. If you have two businesses then you should really keep their financials seperate from one another. Two banks, two PayPal accounts, two sets of accounts, two seperate entities. It won't cost you any extra this way.

It can be done your way but why? Makes no sense to do it your way at all.

Re: Setting up multiple website to one Paypal account

Two bank charges, two accountant bills etc etc

My websites sell pretty much the same types of products otherwise I would seperate.

You say it can be done, do you mind advising how?

Thanks

Re: Setting up multiple website to one Paypal account

Far as I know, if you use a single Paypal account for multiple stores, you're stuck with a single site name on the customer receipt for all. Only thing you can do is use a more genereric name for your company and let the customer know on the checkout payment page what they'll be seeing.

Suggest that you then create a "generic" account
Such as
domain1.com
domain2.com

PayPal
holding company that owns both

Place some explanation about who the bill will reference
holding_co.com

Re: Setting up multiple website to one Paypal account

I did find this link
https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=p/sell/multiple_emails-outside

It says about selecting the email and I wonder if it adds an extra hidden feild to the PayPal button to specify the email? Or do you think that is the same as putting the secondary email in the admin settings?

Hadn't tried yet, I thought maybe it might just mean what email the payment confirmation goes to, but that happens when I just set the secondary email on the second sites admin settings.

Might have a loom at the button, see what hidden feild it adds then compare it to the HTML code zen cart uses. If different might try hard coding it see if it makes a difference?

Re: Setting up multiple website to one Paypal account

Just inspecting the recipes a bit closer. Very weird

The confirmation sent to me, to my secondary email says "payment sent to [my secondary email]"

The receipt sent to customer says "Payment sent to [my primary email]"

Grr

Re: Setting up multiple website to one Paypal account

Have you done this step at PayPal??

Remember, you can always add and confirm a new email address to your account by going to the Profile subtab and clicking on the 'Email' link in the "Account Information" column.

Re: Setting up multiple website to one Paypal account

Try this plugin "MultiSite"

if you are using the version 1.5 its not compatible to that version yet.

I hope this helps.

Think your missing the point there a bit. The problem is getting PayPal configured correctly not the way zen cart works

Re: Setting up multiple website to one Paypal account

PayPal doesn't handle multiple business identities from a single PayPal account.
Their confirmation emails will show your main business account identity, regardless of which store your customer makes their purchase from.

This is standard behavior with payment gateway providers. It's very rare for them to operate differently.

Re: Setting up multiple website to one Paypal account

That article talks about receiving payments, not about branding or controlling how PayPal responds back to the customer.

The closest you might be able to get to that is by specifying your desired email address and pagestyle. After that it's out of Zen Cart's control, and entirely up to PayPal. If you need further help with getting PayPal to do what you desire, you'll have to continue negotiating with them.
