Contact Us not working, receiving alert messages even though all fields filled in

The Contact Us feature is not working. All the fields are filled out correctly, but I just receive alerts that that they are not filled out correctly, and of course, no email is sent.

Error Sorry, is your name correct? Our system requires a minimum of 2 characters. Please try again.
Error Sorry, is your subject correct? Our system requires a minimum of 2 characters. Please try again.
Error Sorry, my system does not understand your email address. Please try again.

I have an SSL certificate installed on my site. Does this have any bearing on this issue? If so, what would I have to change to make the Contact Us form work?

Re: Contact Us not working, receiving alert messages even though all fields filled in

My guess - your template files have been modified and it doesn't post the data it should (field names expected by the header_php.php file). Try switching to the default "classic" template and see if the form gets sent. If it does, then you need to double check your includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/templates/tpl_contact_us_default.php file.

EDIT - it's got nothing to do with your SSL certificate...

I tried it in the classic version, and I'm still getting the same error messages... I'm at a loss, because I haven't changed any of these files associated with the Contact Us form since installing zen cart.

Re: Contact Us not working, receiving alert messages even though all fields filled in

You've apparently installed either a template or a plugin that makes modifications to the contact_us page; the out-of-box Zen Cart functionality does not include a ***subject ***for the contact_us form.

The fact that the issue occurs on both your customized and the default template implies that the processing error is in the page's header processing (/includes/modules/pages/contact_us/header_php.php).

Here is a link to my site: https://shop.atomicorchard.com/

I actually didn't install any plugins besides the template or change anything in those contact us files... I'm not sure how it got messed up...

Yeah, that's Anne's template and her template files come with the subject line included (but the header_php.php has it covered).

Can you try disabling SSL for starters? It shouldn't have any affect, but still...

Oh, one more thing - it seems that your includes/configure.php has an extra slash. Please check the HTTP_SERVER and HTTPS_SERVER lines and remove any trailing slashes.

You know, I noticed that too and was wondering why it was giving me the extra slash. However, the HTTP_SERVER lines aren't the cause, as this is how they exist:

define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://shop.atomicorchard.com');
define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://shop.atomicorchard.com');

define('ENABLE_SSL', 'true');

So that didn't work....still incredibly baffled.

Re: Contact Us not working, receiving alert messages even though all fields filled in

Me again. I just looked around your site and it is defn not making the URL's correctly. It did this:

https://shop.atomicorchard.com//index.php?main_page=about_us

When I hovered over about us, it looked ok but when I selected it it changed to that.

Can you post your configure.php up to the database information? I think you might want to fix this problem first.

I don't believe I've touched the CATALOG...so perhaps I need to change something? and this is the includes/configure.php file, correct?

define('DIR_WS_CATALOG', '/');
define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG', '/');

.
.
.
.
.
(and then later down...)

define('DIR_FS_CATALOG', '/home/content/a/t/o/atomicorchard/html/shop/');

Anything in htaccess? What is the root directory of your sub domain ( if I'm using the correct terminology?)

Re: Contact Us not working, receiving alert messages even though all fields filled in

lruskauff:

Also, did u try it without Ssl? Just to see? I think someone suggested it but I didn't see an answer.

Which htaccess file? There are a few in Zen cart, and I have one in place for SSL.

Here is the htaccess from the Includes folder:

@copyright Copyright 2003-2010 Zen Cart Development Team

@license http://www.zen-cart.com/license/2_0.txt GNU Public License V2.0

@version $Id: .htaccess 18695 2011-05-04 05:24:19Z drbyte $

This is used with Apache WebServers

The following blocks direct HTTP requests to all filetypes in this directory recursively, except certain approved exceptions

It also prevents the ability of any scripts to run. No type of script, be it PHP, PERL or whatever, can normally be executed if ExecCGI is disabled.

Will also prevent people from seeing what is in the dir. and any sub-directories

For this to work, you must include either 'All' or at least: 'Limit' and 'Indexes' parameters to the AllowOverride configuration in your apache/conf/httpd.conf file.

Additionally, if you want the added protection offered by the OPTIONS directive below, you'll need to add 'Options' to the AllowOverride list, if 'All' is not specified.

Example:

#<Directory "/usr/local/apache/htdocs">

AllowOverride Limit Options Indexes

#</Directory>
###############################

deny everything

<FilesMatch ".*">
Order Allow,Deny
Deny from all
</FilesMatch>

but now allow just certain necessary files:

<FilesMatch ".*.(js|JS|css|CSS|jpg|JPG|gif|GIF|png|PNG|swf|SWF|xsl|XSL)$">
Order Allow,Deny
Allow from all
</FilesMatch>

IndexIgnore /

NOTE: If you want even greater security to prevent hackers from running scripts in this folder, uncomment the following line (if your hosting company will allow you to use OPTIONS):

OPTIONS -Indexes -ExecCGI

Hmm....how do you turn of SSL easily? I attempted to, but it messed up the whole site, so I reverted back to SSL. I may not have edited the file correctly though, as I just did it quickly. I'll have to go back and read through the instructions on converting it back tomorrow.

Re: Contact Us not working, receiving alert messages even though all fields filled in

To disable SSL, edit includes/configure.php and change

 define('ENABLE_SSL', 'true');

to

 define('ENABLE_SSL', 'false');

htaccess was gonna be my next question. You posted the one from includes directory, but that not the one we need. Please post the one in your shop directory (store root) as this is probably where some redirects are happening. Do you have any additional URL rewriting plugins installed? What type of server is this, linux, win or mac?

And if there is not an htaccess in the "shop" directory, how about the directory above that?
