File upload with progress bar

Hi, will 160 have a progress bar for the file upload attribute? Nearly every other cart software has one now. People have been asking for this feature for over 9 years.

Can any of the tech boffins comment on this question please?

OK 310 views and no response. Opencart is so looking good right now. Will someone just tell me if there are plans for a decent file upload process in this release as and when it happens.

Re: File upload with progress bar

An upload progress meter requires a number of dependencies, based on what exactly your needs are.
There's a lot of context missing related to your specific needs, including but not limited to:

  • number of uploads
  • size of files being uploaded
  • PHP version
  • all javascript scripts already used on the page (ie: adding a vueJS component might conflict heavily with a bunch of jQuery plugins you're using)
  • etc
  • etc
  • etc

In short, even if someone were to answer "yes" to your question of "will there be a progress bar for uploads?", how can anyone know whether it will meet your needs?

Re: File upload with progress bar

Thanks for the info. All the cart really needs is some sort of animation to be seen when customers upload an image so as they know something is happening rather than just waiting with no indication that the upload is taking place.

There was a work around to this using the "on click" to show an animated gif, but this does not work on the later versions.

Just a simple standard behaviour of showing something moving, even if it is just a cog wheel, would be much better than nothing.

Where can this workaround be found? may be it can be "repaired", so it will work again.

Re: File upload with progress bar

Thanks for looking.

There really should be something that moves whilst a file is being uploaded built in as standard. but even better would be something like the one here https://a3printing.co.uk/a3-photo-prints.php
