Date formatting ..I mean really?

[Note: remember to include site URL, ZC version, list of plugins, PHP version, etc ... read the Posting Tips shown above for information to include in your post here. And, remove this comment before actually posting!]

After installing 1.5.6a it was really dissapointed to see that there were still no easy way changing date and other measurement units / formats.
To make chages not only I had to edit language files but also change (YYYY-MM-DD) in all the collect_info.php scattered all around the place.

Why can't we a menu where we can customise 'UNITS'

   Date Format dd/mm/YYYY verses YYYY/dd/mm
   Change lbs to kg
   Inches to cm
USD to and other Currency format

Re: Date formatting ..I mean really?

So why not think of a better/easier way to do it, write the code and make a PR on github. Then your frustration will be gone with the next release

Like you I am an Aussie and I only sell to Australia so it can be done.
I tried it a few years ago with 1.39 but then got lazy as I knew all the places that needed fixing
So it isn't really an issue for me, takes only a few minutes to fix them all.

I always wondered how far you would / could / need to go with this.
If you were selling worldwide would you customise the date for different customers countries on the fly.
Like how you might customise the currency for the customer
Americans of course don't understand our dates and are always confused? :D

Re: Date formatting ..I mean really?

So why not think of a better/easier way to do it

I have been using Zen Cart over ten years and am comfortable to modify my own cart and sometimes to share those mods if I think they are robust enough.
I follow the threads on Github and the discussions over minor changes get so technical/nit-picking that the idea of submitting any of my hacks for core inclusion does not feel realistic in terms of the quality required.

Since this particular change is a pretty basic requirement, I assume it is a non-trivial fix or would have been done long ago.
So, while I am sure many would like to contribute to the progress of Zen Cart, very few have the time to investigate and attempt to code this, fewer have the confidence to so, and even fewer the actual ability.

... and those who do are completely unmoved by snide requests titled "I mean really" that talk about how "dissapointed" (sic) they are by Zen Cart.
