Autofill city and state from postal code or zip code

I keep hoping /expecting a plug-in or vanilla update that allows for the city and state of a customer's address to be auto-populated once the zip code (or international postal code) is entered. Does anyone see this coming or is it too difficult for the benefit?

Thanks,

Matt

Re: Autofill city and state from postal code or zip code

I have been working on a plugin that makes use of google to fill in the address. It is about 95% ready. I'll PM you the url for the demo site later tonight, or tomorrow morning.

Great to hear. I will be happy to help beta-test. Thank you for seeing that need and addressing it.

:censored: I just found out Google has turned the lookup service in to a payed service. So I guess This has to be shelved until I have a customer willing to pay for the development, because I can not test it anymore.

Thus ever is the fate of such things. There are plenty of ways to do this but you have to pay.

It's not that I do not want to pay, but google is very good in not making it easy to find what the price is, and I do not like being surprised at the end of the month.

FWIW, I've been using the ZipCodeAPI (https://www.zipcodeapi.com/API) for a couple of clients; it works quite well.

Is that only US adressesa, or worldwide? I can not seem to find a clear answer to that.> lat9:

Looks like it's US-only:(
