Database Structure Differences?

I've noticed some database structure differences between zc v155f (updated to v157) and straight v157. The differences are summarized below:

  1. Table admin_activity_log column: gzpost mediumblob NOT NULL in updated db, gzpost mediumblob in straight db
  2. Many tables: default charset utf8 in updated db, utf8mb4 in straight db
  3. Table admin_activity_log key: idx_severity_zen in updated db, not present in straight db
  4. Table expages_content key: ez_pages in updated db, idx_expages_content in straight db
  5. Table media_manager key: idx_media_name_zen (media_name) in updated db, ...(media_name (191)) in straight db
  6. Table whos_online key: idx_last_page_url_zen (last_page_url) in updated db, ...(last_page_url (191)) in straight db
Are these structure differences important? Should the update to v157 db be modified to match the straight v157 db? Note that these differences are in the db structure, not data.

Although I posted this under Mac Server installation, these differences should be present in all similar db updates, regardless of server.

TIA,
Dave

Re: Database Structure Differences?

I can explain #2. The default character-set for a new database is now utf8mb4. On the upgrade, your database's character-set was unchanged (utf8).

You can use this converter when you're ready to convert your data to utf8mb4: https://github.com/zencart/utf8mb4-converter
