Breadcrumb Issue in Google Rich Results - ALL pages

v1.5.7b php 7.3 responsive_classic template Super Data plugin (mprough) CEON URI Mapping 5.0.0

Google is not finding or recognizing breadcrumbs across any product in my site and hence in Google Search Console under Rich Results, Products and Reviews are not showing any data - so according to Google I have no valid products or reviews elegible for Rich Results. As indicated above I have Super Data (structured data plugin by mprough) and CEON URI Mapping plugin installed - these are the same versions I had installed in my v1.5.5f version before upgrading and products and product reviews were registering in search console (only products with reviews but that is normal)

Error;

Not all markup is eligible for rich results - Fix these issues to make the page eligible for relevant rich results in Google Search.
Breadcrumbs
a) Missing field "position"
b) Either "name" or "item.name" should be specified

The includes/init_includes/init_add_crumbs.php is modified with merge of CEON URI Mapping modification - and the breadcrumbs code in includes/templates/mytemplate/common/main_page.php is per the original 1.5.7b fileset.

** note: the issue existed before I merged CEON file so subsequent to merge there is no change in errors.

example of html of 1 product as it shows in Google Structured Data Tester - this code format is consistent with many products (and articles) tested - as suggested it appears to be every page.

<!-- bof  breadcrumb -->
    <div id="navBreadCrumb">  <span vocab="http://schema.org/" typeof="BreadcrumbList"><span property="itemListElement" typeof="ListItem"><a href="https://www.dazzlerscliponearrings.com.au/">Home</a></span></span> <i class="fa fa-angle-right"></i>
  <span property="itemListElement" typeof="ListItem"><a property="item" typeof="WebPage" href="https://www.dazzlerscliponearrings.com.au/all-clip-on-earrings-c-1"><span property="name">ALL Clip On Earrings</span></a></span> <i class="fa fa-angle-right"></i>
Clip On Earrings Fabulous Gold & Silver Ammolite Fossil Design
</div>
<!-- eof breadcrumb -->

If someone could put me on the right track to getting this sorted I would appreciate it.

cheers,
Mike

(the issue is reported in different Google searches with some suggested fixes but they seem 'complicated')

Re: Breadcrumb Issue in Google Rich Results - ALL pages

I'm going to skip addressing other issues with information posted in the above for a moment.

The real question as to the importance of those other things is if the software to provide the missing information modifies the includes/init_includes/init_breadcrumbs.php file or if there are/were any other modifications to that specific file away from the default version of that specific file.

Thanks MC - so I need to go back to square one - my description was OK in my head but in reflection it was inaccurate and somewhat misleading in its context.

Google can see the breadcrumbs (as indicated above in the posted code from structured data tester) so the code is visible to the crawler but Google is reporting errors in every case and hence all products, reviews, articles etc are not qualifying for Rich Results.

The problem lies in data missing from the breadcrumbs that Google now requires.

The errors reported are;
a) Missing field "position" - [apparently i.e. the position of the item order]
b) Either "name" or "item.name" should be specified - [apparently i.e. "books"or "shoes" for example]

This apparently is the requirement by Google for Breadcrumbs - https://developers.google.com/search/docs/data-types/breadcrumb

So I apologize for not explaining things better in the original post (should have slept on it first :smile:)

cheers,
Mike

Re: Breadcrumb Issue in Google Rich Results - ALL pages

I suspect this is dealt with, in my revised version of this plugin in my Github.
