Death and Taxes

Now the every major online outlet is charging state and local sales taxes, what are you guys doing for your sites? I am not doing anything but my home state right now. But we sell a couple of hundred dollars a month right now. I did a bit of research and found that almost 25% of my customers are from that DREADED state of California. I know that California will go after you for sales tax collection.

Any thoughts from the US based crowd?

Re: Death and Taxes

It's a non-issue for most zen cart users since the vast majority are too small to qualify for out of state tax thresholds. Most states either have a yearly $ sales or number of sales to the state, and they are fairly generous. That "dreaded" state you mention is actually one of the more generous, you have to do over $500,000 to CA per year before you have to collect sales tax if you are outside of CA. So I think you (and just about everyone reading this post) are safe.

Zen Cart and it's community are the best!!

Thanks! I have seen some limits as low at 40 transactions/$40,000 was I was concerned. Does anyone know of a master list for the states that is current after wayfair?
