Problem with cell-padding in stylesheet of Responsive Tpl in v2.1

I have successfully upgraded our site from v1.5.7d to v2.1 but one bugbear remains. I have compared the stylesheets of both the old site and the new one and still cannot find the problem. What happens is that in the center column of the main page the text butts against the left and right of the column when the browser window is narrowed or when the site is viewed on a phone. I am using the Responsive Template. On the old site the cell-padding was consistent around the text whatever the view. What am I overlooking?

A link to the site with the issue would help. Viewing responsive_classic on a tablet layout looks ok-fine to me.

Thank you for your reply. The site is https://guerrapaintpigment.com If the browser window is narrowed - or viewed on a phone the text in the center column does not maintain cell-padding and butts into the left and right sides. Here is the site running 1.5.7d where this does not happen.

[/URL] I have tried melding the the previous responsive stylesheet to the one on the new site - but no luck.
Would appreciate any advice.

It looks like you've been inserting code rather than using the overrides provided.

This will give you problems down the road.

Take a look at https://docs.zen-cart.com/user/template/define_pages/ for the proper use.

Also, you might want to clone the template so that you have a backup/test bed when needed. https://www.zen-cart.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=2087

https://docs.zen-cart.com/user/template/basic_customizations/#changing-title---158-and-above will help you with the browser tag.

Also, https://favicomatic.com/ for the favicon. Get 'em all.

I think you'll find the padding works better when you use the standard methods. If not, let us know.

Re: Problem with cell-padding in stylesheet of Responsive Tpl in v2.1

Thank you. All this is good advice. I do actually use overrides, define_pages and have the habit (running linux servers for decades) of cloning every file I edit. Not sure what I did - except that I restored a previous edit - but the cellpadding is now working. When I discover what made it work I will share it here. Next up, installing the bootstrap template. Might make life easier in the long run.

Good news.

From what I could see, you took the basic define_main_page, commented out most of the code (and formatting), then dropped in your text without even labeling it a p tag.

Bootstrap is a good choice, but again, clone it immediately after installation and use the clone for your site.

I always use the Define Pages Editor and yes - I did forget to add the p tag when I transferred the text from the old site to the new one. Thanks for pointing that out. The simplest things are the ones that are easily overlooked.
