Square Payment Module Options

Has anyone come up with a Square payment module that works with the 2.X upgrade, or a workaround for the one that is being sold on this site?
We have gone back and forth with the developer, an exercise in futility, and it just doesn't work on our site.
In more than 10 years, our company has more than 40,000 unique sales generated on the Zen Cart platform, so we are fairly familiar with the workings of ZenCart. As tempting as it is to move to another, better supported, platform, we would prefer to figure out how to make the square module work in the 2.x version and hopefully beyond. If you had an issue that you were able to resolve, please let me know.

had you tried this https://www.zen-cart.com/showthread.php/228750-Square-WebPay-support-thread?p=1401721#post1401721

It currently works with my 2.2, I'm curious what doesn't work?
