SEO Ultimate URLs Question

Hi all, ive installed the above and seemed to go fine. Admin and Main site both still work which is always a bonus for me!

However the ultimate urls isnt working. Not sure ive updated the .htaccess right. Can someone take a look?

Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /climax-creation.com/

From Ultimate SEO URLs

RewriteRule ^(.)-p-(.).html$ index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
RewriteRule ^(.)-c-(.).html$ index.php?main_page=index&cPath=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
RewriteRule ^(.)-m-([0-9]+).html$ index.php?main_page=index&manufacturers_id=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
RewriteRule ^(.
)-pi-([0-9]+).html$ index.php?main_page=popup_image&pID=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
RewriteRule ^(.)-pr-([0-9]+).html$ index.php?main_page=product_reviews&products_id=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
RewriteRule ^(.
)-pri-([0-9]+).html$ index.php?main_page=product_reviews_info&products_id=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]

Not sure ive got the Rewrite base right. Ive uploaded all of the appropriate files, ive put this .htaccess in root folder, and thats all ive done and believe that should be it, but obviously not!

Can someone point me in the right direction? Many thanks!

Re: SEO Ultimate URLs Question

This is part of the problem:

RewriteBase /climax-creation.com/

this part of the htaccess code is only if you have your site in a folder other than the root: i.e. climax-creation.com/shop

Re: SEO Ultimate URLs Question

Thank you for your quick reply. Climax-creation.com is my homepage, which then links to http://www.climax-creation.com/zen-cart-v1.3.0.2-full-fileset/index.php which is where my zen cart store is.

What do i need to put instead of my inital try?

Many thanks again :lookaroun

Re: SEO Ultimate URLs Question

Well, if that is the folder you plan on having the website in, your code would like this:

RewriteBase /zen-cart-v1.3.0.2-full-fileset/

Although for obvious reasons, I would consider renaming that folder to something different like 'shop', or moving everything into the root file.

Re: SEO Ultimate URLs Question

Many thanks for the advice. I have tried renaming the file zen-cart-v1.3.0.2-full-fileset to shop but when i go to https://www.climax-creation.com/shop/index.php or www.climax-creation/shop i get the following message:

Not Found

The requested URL /shop/zc_install/index.php was not found on this server.

Any ideas? :lamo:

Re: SEO Ultimate URLs Question

If you change your Zen Cart directory, then you will also have to update the application configure.php files to reflect that.

Re: SEO Ultimate URLs Question

Hi

I seem to have a similar problem. I have installed the add on as instructed in the README. But I do not see the SEO-URL under CONFIGURATION in the admin.

I trible checked and dont see anything I did wrong. My zen cart site is https://www.ftabonus.com so I changed the /shop/ to /ftabonus.com/ to become:
RewriteBase /ftabonus.com/

Am I correct? How come I still do not see the SEO-URL under CONFIGURATION in the admin??

Pl. help.

Thnak you very much.

Re: SEO Ultimate URLs Question

You can compare your settings with these default ones.

Enable SEO URLs? true
Add cPath to product URLs? false
Add category parent to begining of URLs? true
Filter Short Words 0
Output W3C valid URLs (parameter string)? true
Enable SEO cache to save queries? true
Enable product cache? true
Enable categories cache? true
Enable manufacturers cache? true
Enable articles cache? true
Enable information cache? true
Enable automatic redirects? true
Choose URL Rewrite Type Rewrite
Enter special character conversions
Remove all non-alphanumeric characters? false
Reset SEO URLs Cache false
Enter pages to allow rewrite index, product_info, products_new, products_all, featured_products, specials, contact_us, conditions, privacy, reviews, shippinginfo, faqs_all, site_map, gv_faq, discount_coupon, page, page_2, page_3, page_4, shopping_cart

Could also be something else in your .htaccess file causing problems as I notice your 404 pages open in a new Browser window, which is not the norm.

Re: SEO Ultimate URLs Question

Yes, I checked, except the last one in the last choice, shopping_cart
was missing, which I put it in but it still gives me the 404 error.

Regarding the .htaccess file
I only erased /shop/ as you suggested before, and it is currently as shown below:

NOTE: Replace /shop/ with the relative web path of your catalog in the "Rewrite Base" line below:

Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /

From Ultimate SEO URLs

RewriteRule ^(.)-p-(.).html$ index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
RewriteRule ^(.)-c-(.).html$ index.php?main_page=index&cPath=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
RewriteRule ^(.)-m-([0-9]+).html$ index.php?main_page=index&manufacturers_id=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
RewriteRule ^(.
)-pi-([0-9]+).html$ index.php?main_page=popup_image&pID=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
RewriteRule ^(.)-pr-([0-9]+).html$ index.php?main_page=product_reviews&products_id=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
RewriteRule ^(.
)-pri-([0-9]+).html$ index.php?main_page=product_reviews_info&products_id=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]

For Open Operations Info Manager

RewriteRule ^(.*)-i-([0-9]+).html$ index.php?main_page=info_manager&pages_id=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]

For dreamscape's News & Articles Manager

RewriteRule ^news/?$ index.php?main_page=news&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
RewriteRule ^news/rss.xml$ index.php?main_page=news_rss&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
RewriteRule ^news/archive/?$ index.php?main_page=news_archive&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
RewriteRule ^news/([0-9]{4})-([0-9]{2})-([0-9]{2}).html$ index.php?main_page=news&date=$1-$2-$3&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
RewriteRule ^news/archive/([0-9]{4})-([0-9]{2}).html$ index.php?main_page=news_archive&date=$1-$2&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
RewriteRule ^news/(.)-a-([0-9]+)-comments.html$ index.php?main_page=news_comments&article_id=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
RewriteRule ^news/(.
)-a-([0-9]+).html$ index.php?main_page=news_article&article_id=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]

All other pages

Don't rewrite real files or directories

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f [NC]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*).html$ index.php?main_page=$1&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
