"Units in Stock" still showing...help?

Hi Zenners,

Problem - I don't want the line 'Units in Stock' to show on my product pages.
(I've managed to get it removed on the category listing pages, and everywhere else it may appear, yet on each individual product page, there it is!)

I've turned the switches to 0 in:
admin/configuration/product listing
admin/configuration/new listing
admin/configuration/featured listing
admin/configuration/all listing

I've also edited layouts in admin/product types to reflect the same, yet, still
the dern 'Units in Stock' appear on each individual product page.

Here's one of the URL's in question:

http://www.bonecholampworks.com/TheBeadShop/index.php?main_page=document_product_info&cPath=2_23&products_id=128

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!

Janice

Re: "Units in Stock" still showing...help?

admin>catalog>product types>product general>Show Quantity in Stock set to 0. well that took 20minutes to find. I'm tired.

Re: "Units in Stock" still showing...help?

Thanks Mike...

I'd try that - however...
Strangely enough - I don't have a 'product general' option available!!!
Under 'product types' I have:

Product - All Y
Product - Lampwork Beads Y Info
Document - General Y Info
Document - Product Y Info
Product - Free Shipping Y Info

I'm not quite sure where 'product general' went - I'd turn the switch if I could find it.
Any ideas?

Thanks for your time,
Janice

Re: "Units in Stock" still showing...help?

based on that order it looks like product general was renamed to product-all. Try the edit layout for that product type, if it doesn't work try the next product type.

Re: "Units in Stock" still showing...help?

Hi again,

Hmmm..yep, did that...
Have all switches for displaying quantity set to off (0)...
I'm finding alot regarding product general, and that the switch needs to be turned off in 'product general' - but that's a bit difficult when I can't find 'product general'!
(and, Oh, have I been looking!) ;)

Does anyone know if there's a way to fix this - example, bringing back the 'products general' type? Perhaps that's the solution?

Thanks in advance,
Janice

When you looked at the Catalog ... Product Types ...

Did you try to click on the button that reads:

EDIT LAYOUT

vs Edit?

Re: "Units in Stock" still showing...help?

Hi Linda & all,

Yep, did so! (twice even, just to be sure I didn't miss anything!)
Veree strange...

So now I'm wondering...
This is a clean install of version 1.3.5 - with databases imported.
When I began with Zen Cart, I had even less of a clue than I do now.
(PHP...whassat???)

I'm thinking I may have messed with something in the old databases, & the problem is being carried over.

I may try another install, then checking as I import each database...haven't quite decided yet.

If anyone has anymore ideas, I'd sure appreciate hearing them!

Thanks & Be well,
Janice

Have you upgraded the database?

Please do not PM for support issues: a private solution doesn't benefit the community.

Be careful with unsolicited advice via email or PM - Make sure the person you are talking to is a reliable source.

Re: "Units in Stock" still showing...help?

...Ack...
slaps forehead...
Now...why didn't I think of that???

Ok, backed up database & ran zcinstall to update database...
all went well, but still no 'products general'. :(

Do I need to update the config files too?
(I'm assuming yes, but thought I'd better not jump the gun!)

Thanks in advance,
Janice

Re: "Units in Stock" still showing...help?

Based on these renamed Product Types:

Product - All Y
Product - Lampwork Beads Y Info
Document - General Y Info
Document - Product Y Info
Product - Free Shipping Y Info

Did you change the purpose of Document General? If NO, change that back to not allowed to Add to Cart by clicking EDIT and uncheck the checkbox ...

Look in phpMyAdmin at the product_types table and browse it ...

What settings do you see? Defaults are:

type_id type_name type_handler type_master_type allow_add_to_cart default_image
1 Product - General product 1 Y
2 Product - Music product_music 1 Y
3 Document - General document_general 3 N
4 Document - Product document_product 3 Y
5 Product - Free Shipping product_free_shipping 1 Y

Re: "Units in Stock" still showing...help?

Hi again Linda,
(and, Thanks so much for your patience!):)

Hmmm...I'm starting to think I really messed up with my first installation of ZenCart!
(I was pretty confused, as us newbies usually are when faced with php...)

Currently my cart is currently a fresh install of 1.3.5 - which I imported the data into.
I also believe I renamed some categories back in the old cart from where the data came. (I didn't know any better at the time...)

I don't recall if I changed the purpose of document general or not, here's what I have:

type_id type_name type_handler type_master_type allow_add_to_cart default_image
1 Product All - product_all 1 Y
2 Product Lampwork Beads - product_lampworkbeads 1 Y
3 Document - General document_general 1 Y
4 Document - Product document_product 1 Y
5 Product - Free Shipping product_free_shipping 1 Y

I did go in & made the change you suggested - changed Document General to N
but it's not made any difference...that I can as of yet notice.

So - I guess what I'm asking now, is, should I start over (gasp) and perhaps not import categories.
Or, can I somehow change my categories back to their original settings?
I'd really like to do this correctly this time - and avoid the nasty mess my old shopping cart used to be - and I'd be willing to start over from scratch if it's necessary to have an efficient and easy to maintain cart!

What do you suggest, if I may ask?
Thanks & Be well,
Janice

Re: "Units in Stock" still showing...help?

Changing the name:
1 Product All - product_all 1 Y

Will cause a major issue ...

The code is keyed to the product type settings ... unless you re-write all the files, you are breaking it ...

That should read:
1 Product - General product 1 Y

Re: "Units in Stock" still showing...help?

Let's try that again ...

They should all have the default values:

type_id type_name type_handler type_master_type allow_add_to_cart default_image
1 Product - General product 1 Y
2 Product - Music product_music 1 Y
3 Document - General document_general 3 N
4 Document - Product document_product 3 Y
5 Product - Free Shipping product_free_shipping 1 Y

The ones you changed are breaking things ...

Re: "Units in Stock" still showing...help?

Hi,
I'm having the same problem. I have a fresh install of 1.3.5 and can't get rid of "Units in Stock" display. Also the option not to show quantity is not part of the product type. It's not a big deal but I don't want my customers to see my stock levels.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

There is no button EDIT LAYOUT that I can find in 1.3.5 in the admin section?

Thanks

You are most welcome and thanks for the update ...

It is always nice to know that solutions work for folks ... even if they do look a little odd with the patches of missing hair ... :lamo:
