Re: Your Shopping Cart is empty.

I also use bluehost. This is the problem and how to fix it.
log in to your bluehost control panel and open the ftp manager. You need to edit the public_html/php.ini file.

Open the php.ini file and find the line that contains "registered_globals off"
change the off value to on.

This should fix the problem!

Bluehost claims that I must have edited this value but I know I did not and the fact you have the same host and problem, I think it's them.

Okay I dont see this file in my public html at all. According to what I know is that Zen cart can function with register global set OFF. Because setting register global to on has security isues

Check your includes/configure.php file and admin/includes/configure.php file - and make sure that for http_server they actually have your domain name and not just http://localhost

Thanks for the reply. After the conversations I had with blueHost, the RegisterGlobal was turned off , so I had them turn it on. and things are working now. But I wonder during the installation it says that you can turn it OFF is that right?

Re: Your Shopping Cart is empty.

Zen Cart is written to work with Register Globals 'on' or 'off'. I'm not 100% sure of the polcy with regard to add-ons to Zen Cart - whether they have to be register globals compatible or not.

Re: Your Shopping Cart is empty.

Stock Zen works with register_globals set to off, and that is really how you should run your site. Adding products is part of the core, and so shouldn't be affected by this setting. Are you running an older version? Do you have any non-aesthetic customizations to the catalog side concerning the shopping cart or products?

Re: Your Shopping Cart is empty.

Then based on the feedback from your fellow bluehost-ers, I would recommend you contact the company and ask about the issue. We know for a fact that the program does not require register_globals to be on, so it's probably a server setup issue.

Re: Your Shopping Cart is empty.

I am experiencing this problem now and I am using Opensourcehost, which is a ZC certified host. I contacted them and am awaiting a response.

Aside from the "Your Shopping Cart is Empty" screen after adding a product to the cart, I see that my error log is loaded up with entries stating "File does not exist:" on each page that anyone visits. However, these pages are visible and they do load when I go to view them. Tracking log indicates visitors are seeing the pages as well.

I had set globals off in .htaccess a while ago and things had been working. The problem just arose today for some reason.

Ok so my host doesn't know what the deal is. Anyone have any clue as to what this could be?

Truely I dont know what was wrong. But all I know is the the hosting company has changed the server sittings somehow. All I have done is I asked my refund and told them that I will move my website somewhere else and then they went back and changed to the old settings and everything worked okay.

Re: Your Shopping Cart is empty.

What are your session settings?

Default settings are:

Title Value
Session Directory /home/username/public_html/catalog/cache
Cookie Domain True
Force Cookie Use False
Check SSL Session ID False
Check User Agent False
Check IP Address False
Prevent Spider Sessions True
Recreate Session True
IP to Host Conversion Status true

Some sites do need Recreate Session set to False ...
