Hi All,

Just a quick question about products on home page.
I have set up my main catagories to appear in the navcatswrapper as simple text this works just fine, i have now added images from the main categories in the main body of the page again these work fine. underneath these images i get random new products displayed. I have looked in the admin layout setting and index listing and turned off and on many different buttons but the only way i can get rid of them is to remove through the whole site with the Show Featured Products on Main Page - Category with Subcategories button.
I have set up the site with products showing at the bottom of the final category pages i have to leave them there or there is no way to get to the attribute and checkout.

Any help will be appreciated.

Peek in the Configuration ... Index Listing ...

There are several sets of settings for each of the Centerboxes depending on what level of display you are on ...

0 means OFF and any other value is the Sort Order for the Centerboxes within each set ...

To turn OFF the New Product Centerbox, set them each to 0 ...

Thanks for the quick reply.
I have been through all the options and im not sure if im missing something.
I either loose all product images throughout the whole site or there on the main page as well,
Is there another way or am i just being a simpleton?

Looks like you are displaying your Categories via an Always show in the Configuration ... Layout Settings ...

And then in the Configuration ... Index Listing ...

You have the New Products turned on ... where 0 is OFF and any other value is the Sort order of the centerboxes ...

Hi,

I saw the notes as to where to turn off the NEW PRODUCTS and want to delete/hide the products showing here http://pageallaboutit.com/order/ , but when I open /order/admin/index.php and /order/admin/configuration.php I do not see the line for NEW PRODUCTS to set to zero.

Where does it show exactly?

open your admin panel then:

admin -> configuration -> index listing -> the very first option is:

Show New Products on Main Page set this to 0

Thanks for the help; howeve, I must have an older version - it is green, but when I open the admin folder I have only backups, images & includes as subfolders then I have a lot of php page files.

Where is the configuration?

in the sub folder includes under admin I have folders that are named boxes, classes, extra_configures, functions, javascripts, languages and a few more, but no config folder.

Where should I look in the older version (or the updated version if that is the green admin area).

open your browser navigate to http://pageallaboutit.com/order/admin.

login

now click on the menu option "configuration"

scroll down to Index Listing

click on the very first option (Show New Products on Main Page)

set this option to 0

Whenever you see something in the forum such as:

go to admin -> whatever -> whatever

it is referring to the procedure outlined above.

I am kind of backwards as it would be easier for me if they say go to your ZenCart Admin Area...

The other way I just think it is needing to go to the shopping cart files...

It might be in the ZenCart Admin but I am having trouble finding how to make the ADD TO CART to appear as the last option instead above of all the elements that are created.

Is there a way to place it at the bottom of the page with the write a review?

Good Morning All

I may be missing something, but when i turn off Always show in the layout setting i lost the main categories images images as well.
When i turn OFF (0) the Show New Products on Main Page - Category with Subcategories i lose the product images (also used as a link to show attributes) on all my final pages. Is there a way of just turning off the new products displaying on my home page (/catalog)?
If there is can any this so it's not a global change and just applies to my main (/catalog) page?
I have left the Index listing settings As:-

Show New Products on Main Page 1

Show New Products on Main Page - Category with Subcategories 1

And all others to 0, apart from the columns per row, there all set as 3

And i Think the Layout settings are now correct.
If I turn OFF the Always Show Categories on Main Page i keep the new products and lose the main categories.

I hope this explains my problem a little better.

My Specials, Featured Products and New Products are all still showing on the home page and i want to turn them off.

Configuration>Index Listing>
They are set as follows:
Show New Products on Main Page 0
Show Featured Products on Main Page 0
Show Special Products on Main Page 0
Show Upcoming Products on Main Page 0

The only way i can get them to turn off is to set Configuration>Layout>Categories - Always show categories on Main Page to 0.

Is this correct? I want to show the categories, but not the specials, new products or featured products.

hi, i am using zencart 1.3.8 (i believe), and i am also trying to remove the "new products" box from my homepage. this thread keeps referring to "configuration -> index listings", but that is not an option in my configuration menu. there are options for each type of listing (featured, new, etc), but they only for affecting what is displayed in those listings, not whether to display the listings or not. the "configuration -> layout settings" option is where it would make sense, but i see no option there for enabling/disabling the display of the various listings. please advise on what i am missing?

Any idea where this can be turned off as I thought I had turned off all new product displays.
