oh lord help me before the cat get's it!!! (templatemonster)

I want the last 12 hours of my life back:cry:

I've installed zencart using fantastico and it works fine. I've downloaded the free zencart template from template monster and got that working as well....... well nearly....because the final proceedure is to write the ZENCART_SHORT sql file to my database, and this is the error that keeps being displayed:
Error

SQL query:
UPDATE configuration SET configuration_value =0 WHERE configuration_key = 'SHOW_FOOTER_IP';

MySQL said:
#1146 - Table 'special_zc1.configuration' doesn't exist

Now the strange thing is that I bought a script from mamboassistance.com that integrates oscommerce with joomla. When I run that script, I get thesame error at the end of the oscommerce installation:(

Can anybody walk me through with a solution? I've run fresh installs and also used wsftp and filezilla.

Thanks in anticipation.

Template monster SUX,

Ok now that I have that out of the way,

you need to run this using your sql updater inside zen cart admin

go to
admin-> tools -> sql updater.

then copy and paste the code in there,

you have a db prefix on the tables,
this process will add it for you

I see tools> install sql patches but not tools>sql updater?

Re: oh lord help me before the cat get's it!!! (templatemonster)

I don't think I did it right..

I pasted: UPDATE configuration SET configuration_value =0 WHERE configuration_key = 'SHOW_FOOTER_IP'; Into the query window and hit "send".

I went back to phpmyadmin and tried to import the file again but I get the same error.

Am I supposed to use the upload file form below the query window?

DO NOT USE PHPMYADMIN

you dont need to

if you use the sql patch updater in the admin-> tools menue that is where you enter your sql files

that is your ZEN CART phpmyadmin......

Re: oh lord help me before the cat get's it!!! (templatemonster)

Most of the templates from Template Monster are for Zen Cart 1.2.7, and those that are more modern are for Zen Cart 1.3.5 - and we're now on 1.3.7.

I suspect that the database updates you are trying to perform will not work because the database has changed since that free template was issued.

Merlin is correct - you should avoid Template Monster templates as you would the plague. The clue is in the word "Monster".

I was told by Template Monster that this will work with 1.3.7 and I'm getting the same error. What can be done to fix this database? I uploaded both the full and short versions and niether work. It's just a blank page below the header on the template.

To start off with - don't believe them.

Re: oh lord help me before the cat get's it!!! (templatemonster)

You guys are so vague with your answers. Instead of bashing them, offer support if you know how. Here's the fix from Template Monster:

"Due to the database file structure and the template structure we strongly recommend you to use the database without prefix. Otherwise you will have to edit the whole SQL file manually and change all the lines:

"UPDATE configuration SET...."

to

"UPDATE prefix_configuration SET...."

and all the lines:

"INSERT INTO layout_boxes ...."

to

"INSERT INTO prefix_layout_boxes ...."

Where you should use your real prefix instead of 'prefix_'. As you see it would be much better to reinstall your ZenCart without using the prefix."

No, it's much more fun bashing them :D

I will say I am amazed that you got a reply from them - their support must be improving. Normally once they've sold you a template you can email them as often as you like without ever getting a reply.

Seriously though - if people like myself bash them it is only because it is well earned. I like earning money as much as the next person, but it's very rare that I will take on a job that involves sorting out one of their templates (and I get plenty of requests to do just that).

Well at this point in time, I just need this working for business reasons. I'm stuck and pretty frustrated, however, they have been replying. I fixed this problem, but still nothing shows up... www.buddyclub2.com/store

Re: oh lord help me before the cat get's it!!! (templatemonster)

well according to a view source on your page all its loading is everything included in the headerWrapper and then dying....I would first try reloading the tpl_main_page.php in the common folder of your template.....if that doesn't fix it I would reload the whole template as there are probably files missing some parts

It shows up fine when the template is switched to the original ZenCart template though. It's something to do with their template.

Re: oh lord help me before the cat get's it!!! (templatemonster)

Well one thing you can try but it isnt a quick fix is especially if you are new to ZC.....

Download one of the Templates from here.....
Install it......
Then go thru your ENTIRE file structure to see what it put where......
Re-install your other template and see if it compares well......
Could be a simple thing such as:
One of the mods I added to my ZC needed a CUSTOM folder in a place where I didnt have one so it added a YOURTEMPLATE folder instead.....
Drove me nuts and all I had to do was rename the YOURTEMPLATE folder to CUSTOM and everything worked as it should

If you don't "got-it", then we will get it for you at www.Got-Its.com
