Can't log in to admin...

This started last night, and I still haven't been able to log in to my store admin area all day.

Not sure what's going on...

Re: Can't log in to admin...

Khopek,

Did you rename the "admin" folder? Then you would need to update your shop/includes/configure.php and shop/admin/includes/configure.php files. Maybe a good idea to look at these files for a start.

Good Luck,

Goshawk

Re: Can't log in to admin...

I'm having the exact same issue. I checked the FAQ's and tried the one from this article:

https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=2

But when I did I got this error message in MySQL:

SQL query:

DELETE FROM admin WHERE admin_name = 'Admin'

MySQL said: Documentation
#1146 - Table 'U7009361.admin' doesn't exist

Now...this is a pre-install (auto install) from my host. It was on their server. All I had to do was click "Install Zencart" from a button in my admin panel and it installed. It was working fine the other night with no probs.

Re: Can't log in to admin...

I have this store running already on this server in another location, and again on another website on this same host. It's just this newest version of Zencart that seems to be kicking my butt

Re: Can't log in to admin...

I haven't tried this yet, but I can't get in AT ALL. I have tried resending the password 3 times and everytime I just get a message saying invaild username or password. My website was working perfectly until a week ago when it suddenly decided not to let me log in. :shocking:

Re: Can't log in to admin...

Perhaps you can go into your MySQL database, and look at your username/password.

Re: Can't log in to admin...

There's a lot of help on these boards, but everyone seems to think that each person on here knows how to work with databases :) I figured this out the other night on my own...I'm by no means a MySQL guru, but this worked.

First log into your host and do whatever you need to get to phpMyadmin.

Once you're in there, click on the "zen_admin" in the left column

This opens up that table within the database. You should now see some values there in the right column.

Click and put a checkmark next to admin_pass and then go to the top and click on the Browse tab

Now you'll see the admin name, id, email and an encrypted password.

Click on the pencil to the left of these

Now these fields are open for you to redo. I didn't really have any luck changing my admin name, but the email and pass worked fine.

To change the password...simply erase and change that long encrypted password and then go to the immediate left to that drop down field that says Function. Scroll down and choose MD5, then click on the "Go" button at the bottom.

And you've just changed your admin password. Try to log in like that and see if it works.

Re: Can't log in to admin...

I'm so glad you put step by step instruction on how to do this. It really helps. :smile:

Unfortunately, I still cannot login. Here is what it says in my database:

admin_id admin_name admin_email admin_pass admin_level
1 (name) (email) (encrypted password) 0

I changed the password, but when I try to login, it still gives me the invalid username or password error. I don't even know if the admin id or level are right.

This is getting so frustrating....I'm going to back up everything just in case I have to reinstall zencart. ugh. :shocking:

Also, the username that is supposed to be used to login, I have not seen in here....

Re: Can't log in to admin...

Did you make sure to change that "Function" dropdown to MD5? Use the username "admin" and the new pass that you put in there

Re: Can't log in to admin...

yes I did change the Function dropdown to MD5. I also tried using username admin. Still doesn't work.

I have tried everything I can think of...

My original admin username, my name, my store email, and now tried just admin.

Re: Can't log in to admin...

I was wondering if that might be it, BUT still can't log in.

This is so weird.

Everything worked perfect until a few days ago.

Re: Can't log in to admin...

Look at your database ...

Is the database table via phpMyAdmin called admin or does it have a prefix?

NOTE: if it has a prefix so do all the tables ...

If the table is called admin uses the following:

DROP TABLE IF EXISTS admin;
CREATE TABLE admin (
admin_id int(11) NOT NULL auto_increment,
admin_name varchar(32) NOT NULL default '',
admin_email varchar(96) NOT NULL default '',
admin_pass varchar(40) NOT NULL default '',
admin_level tinyint(1) NOT NULL default '1',
PRIMARY KEY (admin_id),
KEY idx_admin_name_zen (admin_name),
KEY idx_admin_email_zen (admin_email)
) TYPE=MyISAM;
INSERT INTO admin VALUES (1, 'Admin', 'admin@localhost', '351683ea4e19efe34874b501fdbf9792:9b', 1);

If the admin has a prefix such as zen_admin then use the following where the admin is changed to zen_admin or whatever your prefix is:

DROP TABLE IF EXISTS zen_admin;
CREATE TABLE zen_admin (
admin_id int(11) NOT NULL auto_increment,
admin_name varchar(32) NOT NULL default '',
admin_email varchar(96) NOT NULL default '',
admin_pass varchar(40) NOT NULL default '',
admin_level tinyint(1) NOT NULL default '1',
PRIMARY KEY (admin_id),
KEY idx_admin_name_zen (admin_name),
KEY idx_admin_email_zen (admin_email)
) TYPE=MyISAM;
INSERT INTO zen_admin VALUES (1, 'Admin', 'admin@localhost', '351683ea4e19efe34874b501fdbf9792:9b', 1);

Your login is now:
Username: Admin
Password: admin

Those are case sensative ...

Then go to the Tools ... Admin Settings ... and reset your email and password once you get in ...

Re: Can't log in to admin...

In phpMyAdmin ... find your database ... then click on the SQL link at the top ...

You can past the correct commands that would match your database table name in there ...

NOTE: backups are a wonderful thing before making changes ...

nm I figured out where to do SQL queries... AND it let me login. YAY.

Do you know what caused it to freak out in the first place?

Re: Can't log in to admin...

Something caused the initial issue and then I think you had multiple records or bad data that would not let you fix it ...

The code I gave you removed the admin table, rebuilt it and put in a valid login ...

Be sure that you now go change your Admin password and email address ...

Then log out ... close your browser ... clear your cache and ensure that you can get in with a new browser session ... :smile:
