Anyone interested in the auction mod?

Hi all,

I have the auction mod fairly stable and will actually be using it on my website starting April 1st.

I was wondering how many others were interested in this mod?

If you are, please post your info here and I will send you a copy of the work I have done. Post the following:
Link to your website and what products you would use the auction mod for.

I will plan on sending the copies out April 16, 2007 after I have had a run with it for two weeks.

I am not releasing it openly due to the fact I do not have time to answer questions and not even remotely familier with coding this.

Anyone interesting in helping with codeing this as well please post your interest here.

Thanks

Re: Anyone interested in the auction mod?

I am not releasing it openly due to the fact I do not have time to answer questions and not even remotely familier with coding this. Why not release it publicly and let the community help with it instead of leaving it all on your own shoulders if you're not comfortable with supporting it solo ?

If it's not released publicly, it can only get as good or as popular as you make it to be. If you share it, its popularity can grow.

Just a thought.

I agree with Dr. Byte. It would be a pretty cool add-on for lots of sites and the community is just the place for it to develop and grow.

Re: Anyone interested in the auction mod?

I've seen alot of excitement of this mod way back to 1.2 and I wish I could say I have all the bugs worked out, but I can't. The files in this thing effect almost every aspect of the shop from the database to the simplest file such as previous / next. I don't have a problem putting it out there but I don't think anyone has even looked at what I've done with it. I even got the emails to work.
(I think) I could use a tester just for that.

My recommendation is, register at my site and take a look at the auctions I have open at the moment and see what I have done with it. Most of you may not like it, maybe you will.

Take a look and if there enough interest I'll be glad to put it out there and work with everyone, but at the moment I don't think many are interest.

Anyone who wishes to register at my site please feel free to create a "test" account. But please put TEST as the first name.

Re: Anyone interested in the auction mod?

Looks promising so far, just a few small issues as well as a few defines etc.

Would like to see what you have done to get everything to this point.

Re: Anyone interested in the auction mod?

Thanks,

Yea the defines are the last thing I'm worried about at the moment. I could use a tester that is willing to use a valid email so I know I'm not getting the administration emails....HTML and TEXT.....Thanks for looking!

Did you happen to look at "MY ACCOUNT" when you were at the site?

Re: Anyone interested in the auction mod?

I went to your site to look at the auction, registered and still didn't see anything. I would like to try out the auction mod either in a test or to install it. My intention is to use it to sell items for games, I have an auction site, rpg-auction.com but would like to use this for a slightly different purpose. Please let me know if I can get a copy of it, email me at "spitt1 at gmail.com"

Re: Anyone interested in the auction mod?

Looks like an interesting MOD. However, two odd things I just discovered.

1 - Multiple languages folder under the languages folder.
2 - Are all the customized template files really affected for this or only some ? If only some, perhaps clearing the unaffected files should help to simplify the integration process. :wink2:

3 - Is there an official topic for this MOD under the 'All other contributions' section of this forum ? :lookaroun

Re: Anyone interested in the auction mod?

Hello all,
I installed this MOD, and all went well. Now, during testing I'm getting "Internal Server Error" using port 80, and a Warning message that information can be accessed, and this is on an HTTPS page.
Also, it took my bid, but I wasn't able to pay, I guess that's what I needed port 80 for.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Re: Anyone interested in the auction mod?

After more testing I'm finding that the Buy Now price isn't working.

Is anyone else seeing these issues?

Re: Anyone interested in the auction mod?

After replacing tpl_login_default.php with my original file I'm only getting the one Security Message that Secure, and Non Secure items are loading on this page. Plus I'm not getting the emails now. I'm pretty sure the code that generated the emails was in the tpl_login_default.php file, and I'll have to do a compare to see whats missing. All and all it's running pretty good now, and once I get rid of that pesky security message I'll be happy with this mod. Fixing the emails should be just a matter of moving the email code from one file to another.

Re: Anyone interested in the auction mod?

Have you tried uploading the MOD again? Making sure your FTP program is set to "Overwrite" existing files. I did a view source on your page, and one of mine, and one difference is I'm calling this gif file, and your's is not:

"image" src="includes/templates/template_default/buttons/english/auction_buy_it_now.gif"

Maybe it didn't make it during the upload.
Mine seems to be working O.K. It sends out two types of emails, one if you are out bid, and the other if you are the winner. The problem now is that the winning bidder email is dated the day before it goes out. Strange. Also, if you login using the "login to Bid" button the page switches to HTTPS, and gives a warning that non secure items are being loaded. That doesn't happen if you login using the login icon up top.
Hope this helps.
