Image issue going further than image size

I was told by some zen cart users that the cause for the product images in the pop up window (enlarged images) was due to the file size of the image being too large. I have decreased one image to see if that make any difference and it has not changed in any way. IT still shows the image as a small image size when clicking to enlarge. Dimensions in window are exactly the same as the small image. I have also installed the image handler as suggested and have resulted in no changes whatsoever. IT shows that it is installed and functioning within the admin area, but, no results on the customer end. Is there anyone who has experienced this issue?

Typically, you would have 3 sizes of the same image. Small image
(myimage.jpg) would be in your images folder. Medium image
(myimage_MED.jpg) would be in the images/medium folder. Large image
(myimage_LRG.jpg) would be in the images/large folder.

You might also check what the image size settings are in Admin/Configuration/Images.

Thanks, but I have covered all of this. None of my other site owners have had to deal with the _med and large image folders and all of their images display correctly. Why isnt this site? Ive gone thru the dimensions... and tried changing things but that isnt making any difference in the popup image either.

You might try increasing this:

Image - Product Listing Width 100
Image - Product Listing Height 80

to 150/120.

Did as you suggested but getting the same dimensions as the small image size. 100/80

Product listing size is set to 150/120

Can anyone else offer any suggestions?
I have tried overwriting files thinking something may have not uploaded correctly...

Your images are distorted because the images sizes are set to fixed dimensions, both height and width, and if your images are not the same ratio they will appear distorted.
To remedy this situation, open your Admin and point your cursor to Configuration on the menu bar. Chose Images from the dropdown list and click on it. On this page is a list of the various image sizes, choose the image size you wish to edit and set one of the dimensions to 0. Make sure you also set the following two options: Calculate Image Size = true and Use Proportional Images on Products and Categories =1. This will alow your images to be resized according to their own proportions.

Changing one size to 0 causes a flat line image...

None of these have helped at all... :frusty:

Also, why is the background showing in the enlarged image popup window?

Please note that I am just making notes of what I have tried so that maybe SOMEONE can help me figure out the problem. ..

When I try changing the small image width and height to 0 and 0 in the admin/configuration/images section, no image at all shows for the thumbnail image OR the enlarge image.

Switch your small images zoom on to yes as its currently set to off in Image Handler.

Thanks, but that didnt make any difference at all. It almost seems as if the program isnt associating IH or anything but the small images to the products. Because any other changes that I make have absolutely no effect on the image at all.

Thanks, I do have that uploaded. And the problem was there BEFORE the image handler was uploaded. So, I beieve it is something different than that. But I do have someone who at least has the images enlarging now.

ok, l have the solution to the images on the main product info .To increase the size, just try with this settings...in your admin - configuration - images.Scroll down Product Info - Image Width 330
Product Info - Image Height 300 Try with these settings... Should work.... no need for image handler:)

You are not using Image handler, there is no trace of it on your site

Image Handler
-- is an add-on, that will automatically create all 3 size images that are required by zencart
-- By default if you haven't created small and medium images, zencart will serve the large image and let the browser resize it, this obviously leads to slooooww webpages as for every thumbnail displayed on the site the full large image is downloaded then resized, Image handler automates this and creates small and medium images from the large image on the server and zencart will serve those instead, so if a small image is required a small image will be downloaded.

I am biased as i have worked on bits of image handler, and works fine 99% of problems are caused by people not reading instructions, but the support thread is full of really helpful people, who will help provided you actually try

I have not tried any image add on module from what i can tell.
So i must have been using the default method of displaying images since I never made different sizes.
I just assumed they already were being resized for me.

Is there anyway to jumpstart or reinstall the default image handler so I can see the images the way they were before this server move?

The images were being displayed correctly before I moved my .com site to my subdomain.
The dbase was moved ok but these images never looked the same.

I will also check out the image handler add on and maybe this will correctly my images.

Have you changed anytyhing in the last few minutes as the popup images were working correctly a second ago and now they are not

I did, I changed small image width to 0 and then made sure the other 2 settings were set and the images appeared as a thin li ne. Then i changed the width to 150 and I enlarge pop up image is still small thumbnail. I was farting around in there so that is why you probably couldnt enlarge. It should pop open now.
