NO HTML email send (1.3.8)

I have configured ZEN Cart to send HTML emails.
When I send an email to a (test) customer who has described to receive HTML mail only text is send.

When I check the database email_archive tabel the field HTML email is empty.

The software is installed as a fresh installation at the following server:

HTTP Server: Apache/2.2.3 (Debian) PHP/5.2.5-0.dotdeb.2 with Suhosin-Patch mod_ssl/2.2.3 OpenSSL/0.9.8c
MySQL 5.0.51a-7.dotdeb.1-log

Any suggestions are welcome.

Re: NO HTML email send (1.3.8)

Make sure that you have set up in the Configuration ... Email Options ...

Use MIME HTML When Sending Emails
Send e-mails in HTML format

true
false

and set that to true ...

Re: NO HTML email send (1.3.8)

The strange thing is that I already had that options set to true:

Use MIME HTML When Sending Emails true
Send E-Mails true
Email Archiving Active? true

And still no html email is send or field html email is filled in in the archive table.

The test customer has the HTML option active.

Maybe an add-on module has changed something.
I will compare the email functions to check this and let you know.

Re: NO HTML email send (1.3.8)

Is the system able to find your /email/*.html template files? Do they contain anything?
What language are you trying to send these emails in?

Re: NO HTML email send (1.3.8)

Sorry for my late response.
The problem was as you suggested to language directory (NL) who was missing in the email directory.

Thanks!!

Re: NO HTML email send (1.3.8)

Hi, I am having a similar problem, all settings in Configuration --> Email Options are right, and there are html files in the /email/ folder, but any emails sent out are only in text, not html.

When you say "Is the system able to find your /email/*.html template files? Do they contain anything" - how do I check this? The HTML email files are in the /email/ folder, but do I need to check somewhere that other files are pointing to this directory?

Cheers
Graeme

I have the same problem. It would be nice if someone could just explain what they did to fix it step by step, insted of just saying that they have fixed it.. :P:cool::blink::lookaroun

  1. Every time someone writes "I have the same problem", I cringe, because in almost every case if I go back and read the preceding dialog, there are multiple issues discussed. And, usually when asking for clarification it's proven that the so called "same" issue is actually not the same.
So, instead of complaining that people aren't writing detailed fixes, perhaps you could raise the bar and actually post the details of your problem instead.
And, in the future, if your problem isn't exactly the same as the overall theme of the entire preceding dialog, maybe it would be best to start another new thread with the details of your new problem, thus helping prevent the thread-hijacking problem that causes disjointed discussions by keeping different topics separated.

Wel.. I understand what you mean, but in this case the problem, is exacly the same! Newsletters are not send as html. When I sent as html it just sends out an blanc email. Someone said something about a language code, so if someone could tell me what they did to fix this problem I would be very gratfull. I still stand by my upiniun abouw. When someone get a problem fixed, please help all the others that will search for the same answer, by explaining what you did to fix it. It saves everyone so much time. :smartalec:

Good day to you too.

As you can see, your post did not indicate which of the many aspects of the problem as discussed earlier in this thread exactly describes your particular problem.

And ... in fact ... your problem is NOT exactly the same:

Anna.S:

Wel.. I understand what you mean, but in this case the problem, is exacly the same! Newsletters are not send as html. When I sent as html it just sends out an blanc email. No, that is NOT the same. You are only talking about newsletters. The other people didn't mention newsletters at all. They were referring to any emails, not just newsletters.
There's a big difference there. If the problem is related ONLY to newsletters, maybe you have a problem with just a bad file which handles newsletter mailings. But if your problem is related to all emails, then the problem is likely in a different part of the code. That's why it's important to be specific.
Anna.S:

Someone said something about a language code, so if someone could tell me what they did to fix this problem I would be very gratfull.
The FAQ articles I linked to earlier explain the additional language folder required for sending in alternate languages.

It would also be useful to know more information about your site:
List all your settings in Admin->Configuration->Email Options (but not the password, if any)
And list all the languages you have in your store.
And which version of Zen Cart
And list all the addons you've got in your site.
And anything else that might help explain exactly what symptoms you are suffering from.

Then maybe we can help you further.

Many thanks Dr Byte for these guidelines, which shine like the light at the end of a long tunnel of mind-numbing searching.

However, I am trying to test all the various emails through my localhost, and so far all attempts have failed. I have no idea what is wrong, whether it is Zen Cart, xampp or my Thunderbird email setup, all of which are in latest release.

I have installed Email Archiver, and even it is not making a record of all the emails that I send.

A similar guideline, troubleshoot or just general advice for localhost setup would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

Almost certainly a result of not having a working mailserver application on your localhost PC.
Save yourself the major headaches of running a mailserver on localhost and just do your email tests on a real live webserver.
Otherwise you may as well sign yourself up for a crash course on running your own webserver/mailserver business and add that responsibility to your business portfolio ... or else find a good supplier of hair replacement services.

Re: NO HTML email send (1.3.8)

Hi, my cart was not sending HTML email too, the cofiguration for email from the admin side was ok, customers had selected html email preferences, but only Text emails was sent.
until i found this thread. Here is what i did to send out HTML emails:
as earlier said in this thread there is a folder in the root off your Zencart
https://www.mysite.com/ZenCart/email - wich cotains the .html email templates, these are for english only
if you have other languages then it should look like this
https://www.mysite.com/ZenCart/email/ = english/master
https://www.mysite.com/ZenCart/email/fr/ = french
https://www.mysite.com/ZenCart/email/de/ = german
https://www.mysite.com/ZenCart/email/es/ = spanish
https://www.mysite.com/ZenCart/email/ro/ = romanian

I simply created a new folder in https://www.mysite.com/ZenCart/email called " ro " as this is my default language and copyied in that the files from https://www.mysite.com/ZenCart/email
and it worked, hope this helps others to
Thank you, Zoli.

Re: NO HTML email send (1.3.8)

I am relatively new to Zencart and am trying to implement html emails. I thought I would start with the order confirmation email and go from there.

My email settings are:
E-Mail Transport Method - PHP
E-Mail Linefeeds - LF
Use MIME HTML When Sending Emails - true
Send E-Mails - true
Email Archiving Active? - true

In my store/email/ folder I have added a new language for our website, which we use throughout our language folders, and i have copied the standard zencart email_template_order_status.html file into that folder (along with the header.jpg file). I haven't actually played with the html yet so it's just the standard zencart html and header image.

I have checked that my test user is set to accept html emails.

And i have read the link to the trouble shooting page!

Yet i am only getting text order confirmation emails when i place a dummy order.

Can anyone help me?
