An Exclusive or "Buy Out" Attribute

Hi,

I have a Zen cart selling stock photos. I have used the mod in this post: http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=176758

the mod forces a decrement of the stock levels for downloadable items sold.

I am thinking of introducing a new attribute for an exclusive license which would be equivalent to a buy out. This can only happen if there are no other instances of that product previously sold.

A check would need to be made that current stock level = original stock level so that the "Exclusive" Attribute can display. After an exclusive purchase the stock level would have to be reduced to zero to prevent further sales.

How difficult would this be?

As most of your items will be downloadable, you can incorporate in the admin the stock tracking but also allow purchase if stock is less than one

Make them all a stock of one

Then you will need to add code - - if/else - - to check if stock is no longer one - - meaning that someone has purchased it one or more times and the exclusive is no longer viable

I would start with includes/classes/shopping_cart.php

As this is not an overrideable file - - maintain an original and comment your additions

Yes, I think the logic is fairly straightforward but it will take some time to work my way through the code.

In fact any nominal amount of stock should work - providing the key test is against that starting number and no other.
