I have a question regarding this mod.
I have a 3 languages store, so when the sitemap is genarated, links like these accour, displaying the lang ID as well:

or

Any suggestions?

But as far as I know its meant to do that otherwise anyone visiting your site might not have the right language and not understand?

I did a closer inspection inside the .xml Looks like the script generates links to a specific product for each language defined. So, each product is indexed 3 times (in my case)
I thought it was an error.
However, Google accepted the xml, so I'm happy !

Ummm... has this been updated for 1.3?
I installed it, ran the SQL patch, changed permissions, & nothing showed up in Admin / Tools.
No errors, no feedback, nothing.
Any ideas?

It's work normally in 1.3.0.1
A quick note -- you might want to revise the 'readme.txt' file.
It advises the user to:
"3. Go to admin>tools>Google XML Sitemap;"
when it actually appears in "Admin > Configuration > Google XML Sitemap."
I just didn't see it when I looked as directed. Once I found it, it seems to be working very nicely; thank you for an extremely useful mod.

Thanks for getting back to me.
Well, I re-unzipped the files & re-copied them to my site, & now all is working fine. Got a 'Google XML Sitemap' entry in both the 'Configuration' and 'Tools' menus, the .xml files seem to be generated properly, & all is right with the world.
Go figure. Probably operator error on my part somewhere. I'm just glad it's working.
For the record, I'm running Zen Cart 1.3.0.1, with (I believe) all of the current bug-fixes applied.
The mod is identified as: "// $Id: googlesitemap.php admin page,v 1.0 8/11/2005 bhakala AT pc-productions DOT net".
The set-up is Mac OS X 10.4, Apache/1.3.33 (Darwin) PHP/5.1.2 & MySQL 4.0.21 Complete by Server Logistics.

Thanks Andrew, I will take a look. It seems kind of strange though considering that when I added the USER TRACKING mod I used the Install SQL Patches and it worked perfect. Thanks for the input and I will check it out.

A dummy question:
Google sitemapAdmin has generated three XMLs: sitemapcategories.xml, sitemapindex.xml, sitemapproducts.xml. Do I need to upload all three xmls to google, or just load sitemapindex.xml?

I get this error once starting step-1 to create the sitemap after 30 seconds:

Got the contrib loaded and all seems to be working except I'm having trouble getting verified by Google. I chose verification by HTML file and get the following from Google:
We've detected that your 404 (file not found) error page returns a status of 200 (OK) in the header.
I do not have a custom 404 file and I'm not sure what to do from here. :blush:

Your hosting company may have that set for you. For example GoDaddy hosting includes a html file named "missing.html" in your root folder that is used for 404 errors. They also let you configure how you want to handle 404's. (Default missing.html page, custom page you define, or your homepage "www.mydomain.com"). You host may have something configured like this that Google Sitemaps doesnt like.
Another thing to check is that you named the file exactly what Google wants. For example if you use .htm instead of .html it won't find it. Also if your host is case-sensitive make sure you have it in the correct upper or lower case.

I got everything works for this Google Sitemap. My question is what are the value of Priority as listed in the sitemapcategories.xml and sitemapproducts.xml? Some link has value of 1.0, 0.1, 0.5 as below. Can we change these priority?

Hi - I'm having trouble crossing the finish line with this module. I believe that I've properly followed the steps and indeed Google XML SiteMap has been added to both my Admin/Configuration & Admin/Tools. Admin/Configuration seems to be operating as it should. However, when I click on Tools/Google XML Sitemap I get a HTTP 404 - File not found.
As I understand it, this may be corrected by changing my permissions to 777. I've attempted to do this, but as soon as I make the change from 666 to 777 it reverts back to 666.
Also, I read in one of these threads about uploading the XML files to Google. :blink: Am I supposed to upload directly to Google? I was under the impression that we were to just upload all files to the store directory, putting the individual files in the appropriate folders (either Admin or Include) and leaving the loose files, such as the XML files, loose.
(Boy does that sound convoluted. I hope it makes sense to someone)

You will need to create your account with google and register your sitemaps. You can do this by following this link. https://www.google.com/accounts/Serv...Fhl%3Den&hl=en
You will need to set your information up on the google side. Google will need to know what your website is and what type of files you are submitting. You will also need to verify your website with google. They will have you place an html file in your root directory. Google will search for this file. Once it finds it, you will be verified.
Once you have the google portion of your website setup, it is as simple as just creating the file and telling google that they are ready. (Google Sitemap Admin) will do this for you if properly configed.

I know this may seem somewhat basic, but please check your admin directory and verify that it has a file named googlesitemap.php.
If it does, I would consider walking through the simple installation instructions again and check to verify that all the included files were uploaded properly. If it doesnt, you need this file and missed it during installation.
Can you verify that the SQL was updated? Did you complete step #2 of the installation which statedQuote:

As you obviously suspected, I did indeed neglect to add the googlesitemap.php to the admin. Duhhh :laugh:
However, when I go to create my sitemap in Step 1: I receive this error:

As stated above, on this end, when I go to create my sitemap in Admin/Tools/Google XML Sitemap: I receive this error:

I would upload the entire sitemap contrib again. Since the initial file was misplaced, I suspect the others weren't installed in the proper directory.

C-Panel is a server side client control panel, it works like the control panel in windows works,
it controls everything you can do in your account.

i have installed this contribution, it works without any problems in the meaning that i receive no error messages, also all xml files are being created smootly.
however when i checked created xml files i found that data are not correct.
here is an example of product data listing in sitemapproducts.xml file:

that listing leads to an empty page at my website because of incorrect separator ";" - there should by "&".
my categories in sitemapcategories.xml file are generated by the same wrong way ...
any ideas why the xml files are being created incorrectly?

Hi guys.
Wonderful tool this Google Sitemap Admin. However, I got it to work on a smaller site with some 500 products, but not on a site with some 20.000 products.
1. I added the sql patch and made the xml files 777, but it still does nothing.
2. I tried making the limit of number of links and size bigger, but to no avail.
I can tell the php is doing something, i.e. making the query and working, since it takes quite a while before the "Done" pops up in the window. However the "Done-page" is blank and the xml files are still 0 size.
Any suggestions?

I guess that means no. I just don't think I can handle updating Zencart right now. Does anyone have a copy that will be compatible with 1.27 ?
I installed it and got the sql to go in fine.. Now when I go into admin/configurations and click on sitemap xml i get the following errror:

I researched and found that it could be because something isnt bracketted correctly closing something.. here is line 245.. I dont know whats missing?

Well I installed it on my other site and it worked just fine.. Actually it works on my other site when I generate the site map.. I just cant go into the configuration file in the first drop down menu, but it seems to work. now to see if google accepts them...

What permissions do you have set on those files? They need to be 755 or 777 depending on your server setup.
On the generated pages, in the top of page, an alert show me that the page don't have a stylesheet; http://www.100asa.it/sitemapindex.xml generate a few row.

I set product change frequency by 'monthly', and categories change frequency by 'weekly'.
What will happen if I forgot to update the page?

And also, on main homepage, There is the 'new products of this month' that is dynamicly change everytime when customers visit the web. 'Will google count this as an updated page?' Or do I have to update the main page manualy?

I have looked around quite a bit and have not seen reference to this problem. Everything works great at admin. I have run the upgraded sql from post #17 which added "google xml sitemap" to the configuration tab. and everything seems to go great. I create the files and zencart tells me that the files have been created sucessfully. I ping google and get a message that says " Your Sitemap has been successfully added to our list of Sitemaps to crawl." At google sitemaps it says pending and then comes up with the error "Unsupported file format
Your Sitemap does not appear to be in a supported format. Please ensure it meets our Sitemap guidelines and resubmit." Does anyone know about this, or if I have missed it can you point me to a thread that explores this error.

I am getting the following error message when trying to install the sql patch. I am running version 1.3.5. Any help would be great.

Yes I did add this contrib to my 1.2.7 site but never used it. When I upgraded recently, I built 1.3.5 from scratch, with no mod carry overs (its all a blur right now, but that's how I remember it) then went to 1.3.6, but always used the original 1.27 DB. So maybe the DB must have made these admin changes or I need to see if I accidentally moved over some files.
So then I must conclude that there is no built in google sitemap.
And does that mean I am out of luck for my ez-pages and html pages?

Why would you want to include your ez-pages and html pages anyway? Googlebot will index them.
I guess it is my lack of understanding how the sitemap and google works. I was thinking that some of these pages would be changed more often and I would like to update to them as soon as possible.
So if one is regularly indexed, what is the real purpose to send sitemap of anything to google?:huh:
Hello! I am having trouble with this module. I have my zencart in the folder of /catalog/, and have my homepage redirected to /catalog/. The site is www.bridgecampus.com
Google web crawl gives the error of 'robots.txt unreachable'. When I check the robot.txt analysis, it shows following:
This site is not located at the top level for the domain. A robots.txt file is only valid when located in the highest-level directory and applies to all directories within the domain. The robots.txt file that applies to your site (if one exists) is located at http://bridgecampus.com/robots.txt.
I search the forum, but no one reported the same problem before. But I do think there should be many of us having zencart installed in a folder rather than the root. So I am really confused. What should I look for?

At the moment your shopping cart sits here: http://bridgecampus.com/catalog/, and from what I am reading from you below either you don't have a robots.txt file, or it is located somewhere within the /catalog/ folder, instead of your main directory.
Your robots.txt file should sit in the top level folder, which is one up from /catalog/
Does this make sense?
As the error (and quantum) says, you need your robots.txt file at the top level of your site - ie. above the /catalog folder.

According to your explaination, it seems that there should be a robots.txt file which I can move to the web root and it will solve this problem. I can't find this contribution. Where can I download it? I saw the attachment to this thread but this can't be the whole deal? All links that I found in other threads are not working.
