this all begs the next question as to who supports his software (of all kinds) that is being sold on his website??

of course i've read this - it's in the documentation - but it doesn't fit what i've been asking for.. i'm hoping there are other business owners out there who have migrated from another software to Zen Cart.. they'll know how it's done.. it's a must have - that's why i'm surprised there's no module out there for it.
Yes when you find that job you can move out of the basement
Yes Conor was so happy when he launch his new site. This is what he said to me and I know it off topic but I wanted to share.

In other news, when I do get to work, I'm finally getting things going
the way I want.. I spent Friday, Sat and Sun last week trying to
decide on four URIs for my new website.. that's it, just picking URIs!
Had to drink several glasses of Bailey's and eat lots of chocolate to
keep me awake, but on Sunday I finally made the last of the decisions
and things are well on track now. :)
Well, the above's not quite true I suppose! The reason "picking URIs"
was important is that they reflect the restructuring of Ceon, finally,
into the software company I want it to be, with Zen Cart simply being
a part of the general Ceon empire. Once I could decide on
restructuring format, the URIs became part of it (so I was really
picking them in a "roundabout" way).. anyway, who cares about the
URIs, main thing is Ceon's moving the right way at last... :)
Feeling good now because of what I've achieved, releasing a new
ceon.net for the first time since 2003/2004, moving sites into the
places they should be, bringing new automated version check/IP address
check systems online.. oh, oh, so pleased with Ceon being reborn..
finally my 14 year reboot has begun!
I've been working on Ceon Product Variants today and restructuring
things in my other modules during the week.. I am getting so close to
bringing everything together and getting all the module releases out..
great! Of course, if I didn't have to keep napping I'd have been done
weeks ago but well, that's life!
thanks for the notice on the banner.. and yes too many things to do.. it's rotated in so at least everyone won't see it.. i only put one product up to test the new zen cart at http://medievalclothing.co/. played around with the database tables like the instructions suggested and they do work like the documentation says but it still doesn't help me.. and yet the sales propaganda says that it works for migrations from old URL's.. but yet to find it..
Well then you need to explain something or else NO ONE is going to be able to help you.. Why exactly do you think that section of the documentation doesn't cover what you are trying to do?? It sounds EXACTLY like what you are trying to do. (and it sounds just like what lhungil described as one of your options..)
This is what that section of the readme says
The section goes on to explain how to setup the .htaccess file to do this with this module.. How is this DIFFERENT from what you have stated you are trying to do???Quote:
Modifying the rule to allow URI mappings to be used which end with a particular file extension (e.g. “.html”).
The example rewrite rule by default does not rewrite URIs ending with a 2 to 5 letter file extension, to avoid wasteful attempts by the later rules to check if image files, CSS files etc. should have their URIs rewritten, and for maximum compatibility with other software being used to run the site.
However, some stores may want to use particular extensions - for example “.html” or “.php” - at the end of its URIs, possibly to match up with advertising literature, or to re-map URIs from a previous site.
It's easy to let the Ceon URI Mapping module manage URIs with any file extension by making a simple change to the rewrite rule.
To add to this.. I just tried on a test site I had up and running with this module installed. I followed the instruction in the section of Conor's readme that I am referring to and entered "gc1041017.html" for my test product's URI and IT WORKED.. so please explain HOW this section of the documentation not help you achieve what you originally posted you are trying to accomplish??
and don't read any emotions into my posts, I'm simply asking for clarification..
if this section of the readme for this module doesn't do what you are trying to do then it's going to be difficult for ANYONE here to help you.. So some clarification might be necessary.. You might also want to post your .htaccess file too..
yes it does explain how to setup the htaccess file to do this with this module but i already CAN redirect all of my old URL's to the new ones using htaccess but it would require over 5000 statements for over 5000 pages - and that's just dumb.. and i can do that without using this module.. i thought this module had a feature that allowed you to enter your old URL in the product table, which would convert/redirect to the new URL that it creates.. that's is what would be useful.. I had a programmer do that for us a few years back when we were converting to the Sunshop store.. You put the old URL into the product table and then there is some process that checks that and shows the user the new URL.. that way the search engines don't delist all of your indexed pages. and yes 5000 301 redirects in the htaccess would accomplish that but not sure that's the best way to do it..
where did you enter 'gc1041017.html'????? i tried entering that in the zen_cri_uri_mappings table (as stated) in the 'alternate uri' field and '301' in the 'redirection_type_code' field and left the uri field to the 'pretty' url that this module creates.. that is supposed to redirect to medievalclothing.co/gc1041017.html - and yes it does but i get a 404 page.. plus that's backwards of what i want and need.. this effect is that the URL generated through CEON redirects to another URL.. i need the OLD URL to redirect to the new CEON generated URL..
I swear I am not trying to be difficult here, but it doesn't sound like you read this section or you are not understanding how to configure this to get to your end result.. no part of this section says ANYTHING about creating "5000 statements". You make ONE SMALL CHANGE to your .htaccess file and then all you need to do is enter the URI you want into the URI field on the product page.
Now since you have over 5000 URLs to bring over, this is probably not practical to do manually.. So the solution will be to create a SQL script to populate the URI table for this module. If you are handy enough with SQL you can create a SQL statement to populate the URI table for this module with your current store's URLs. There's a few ways to get a list of your current store's URLs. (Google WebMaster might have some tools to help you do this)
The Mapping Manager module will not help you with this task because you are bringing in URLs from a different shopping cart and not another Zen Cart re-writing module. From the Mapping Manager inferfaceSo the Mapping Manager cannot import URLs from a different shopping cart system.Quote:
Ceon URI Mappings Manager could not identify any other URI/SEO software in use for this store. At this time, only Ultimate SEO URLs, Simple SEO URLs or Magic SEO URLs can be identified.
Also if the Mapping Manager is the module you are trying to get help with we are really not allowed to discuss support issues/questions for commercial modules in details on this forum (the admins discourage this)
I manually edited the product and entered "gc1041017.html" in the URI field.

Specifying the current URI Mapping for a Product
Specifying the current URI mapping for a Product, for each language used by the store, is easily accomplished:
- Use Catalog > Categories/Products to navigate to the product the desired product is within.
- Click the (green) icon for “Edit” alongside the product's name or click the “New Product” button if adding a new product.
The URI mapping can be automatically generated using the store's URI mapping auto-generation settings:
- The URI mapping fields can be found at the bottom of the page.
- Simply tick the URI mapping auto-generation text box and click “Preview”.
- The URI mapping will then be generated using the full path to the current product and the name of the product. For stores with multiple languages, a URI mapping will be generated for each language, using the respective product names entered for each language.
- The auto-generated URI mappings for each language the store is using will be displayed below the product's description.
- Click “Update” to save the product's information, including its URI mapping(s).
we're getting closer here i think.. i just thing we're speaking 2 different 'languages'.. and my language of htaccess is very very limited and i may be missing the point there.. but after saying that, i think we're getting closer. the good thing is that our current database table for products HAS the URL hard coded into a field - so it can be extracted along with the product number.. but then i'm still unclear as to what needs to be done to the cri_uri_mappings table.. are you saying to put the OLD URL in the URI field and the NEW CEON one in the 'alternate_uri' field?? and then configure the htaccess as stated in the docs?? if this is the case, then where do i go to find someone to help me with this..
btw, i see where you might be a Mustang afficionado?? if so, did you check out my mustang site at http://mustangtraderonline.com. used to be our number #1 with over 20000 visitors per day - until Penguin..
there is NO URI field that shows when you edit a product.. there is a field called Products URL and a field called URI Mapping.. i entered gc1041017.html in the URI Mapping field and when i accessed the product sure enough it tried to find gc1041017.html but came up with a 404 page not found.
My message has been consistent.. I told you early on that the solution was likely in your .htaccess file, and what section of the documentation to get you on your way to your desired solution.. What you did not disclose fully was that you are attempting to use the Mapping Manager or updating the DB manually to accomplish your task. If that was clear early on all of us could have given you a better answer. (without the "living in your mother's basement" comment BTW..)
Now that said.. You need to make the changes to your .htaccess file as Conor specified in the readme file so that your .html URIs will work correctly.
THEN you will need to populate the ceon_uri_mappings table with your exported URIs. I suggest creating one manually so you see exactly what fields you need to populate. (the 'alternate_uri' field is NOT populated)
You will need to do some work to your exported URIs so that each new URI record is linked to the correct product ID. Now you may not need to worry about importing your category IDs and if you don't. then you can just configure this program to generate your categories in the format you want, then the Mapping Manager will take care of generating your category URIs. However you will probably want to import your category URIs too.. (using the same process as the products)
Hopefully this is enough to put you on the path to getting this done.. Good luck..
URI Mapping field = URI field..
and you are probably getting the 404 error because you have not updated the .htaccess file as per the instructions in the section I keep referring you to.. (sorry.. not trying to be a PITA, but this is a KEY part of accomplishing what you want)
it's just the standard htaccess that he recommends:
## BEGIN CEON URI MAPPING REWRITE RULE

so are so corrrect Keem-O-Sabe.. i updated the htaccess and now that's i've put the different pieces in place i think i got it.. so sorry to be a PITA here but i guess when you're a newbie, you ask dumb questions, hoping for smart answers.. so now it looks like i only have to put my OLD URL into the URI Mapping field and my new URL's will match my old ones. perfect.. thanks again..
not quite yet.. the product url's work good but the category ones - not so good.. no at all.. i uploaded all the products at http://medievalclothing.co and if you click on the category 'medieval clothing', i get another 404 not found page.. but if you go to a specific product such as http://medievalclothing.co/monksrobe.html - the link works.. is there something special about categories??
darn, i think i read it clearly.. i've attached a screenshot showing i entered the value of medieval-clothing.html in the right field.. the only part of the docs i didn't understand is 'Please Remember: URI mappings entered manually must be relative to the root of the site (“/”), and must be the full path to the category. E.g. “/category-one/subcategory-of-category-one”'
i used the / but don't understand the 'full path' part.. this category is at the root level.
Attachment 11844
Your .htaccess file is not sending URIs including alphanumbericals, a dash "-", and end with ".html" to index.php. You need to update your .htaccess file.
I tested adding the same category URI (/medieval-clothing.html), and had no issue.. (I of course did not tick the auto generate checkbox) I used the same suggested rule that Conor's documents suggest for URI's ending in ".html"..
Code:# Don't rewrite any URIs ending with a file extension (ending with .[xxxxx])
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !\.[a-zA-Z]{2,5}$ [OR]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} \.(html)$ [NC]
Yup, that should work using the "stock" CEON .htaccess file. I am not sure what is different in tyankee's file, but if you follow the link provided you will see a generic Apache 404 error message.
If you try typing in some other invalid links without a dash "-" you will see the Zen Cart 404 error message.
This indicates a high possibility tyankee's .htaccess file is not actually sending the request to Zen Cart when a dash "-" is in the URI.
huh?? did you read my post?? it sends the product ones fine - just not the category ones.. here's one it sends fine - http://medievalclothing.co/monksrobe.html - that one has html in it..

You need to rename your admin folder. The name you picked is too easy to guess / find and may be a large cause of the issues you are encountering. Please use a random sequence of letters and numbers.
**nods in agreement**
As a suggestion, I personally like to use this site to generate a random sequence of numbers that I use as a part of my client's admin folder name: http://www.random.org/passwords/. I append the sequence generated to the word(s) admin or control or manage to make up the admin directory name.
ie: managepL8uhGXQRd9htnPP or adminpL8uhGXQRd9htnPP
Not a joke, and to lhungil's credit he's trying to be subtle so as not to broadcast you admin folder name on the open forum.
So let me be more direct. The .htaccess file for this module has a directive that prevents the admin folder (or anything named similar to the admin folder) from being re-directed..
so using the example you provided, ("medieval-clothing.html)", and knowing the issue you are having it's pretty EASY to figure out what your admin URL is.. Is it clear now what the issue is?
if I could GUESS what your admin folder was ANYONE could.. So please follow the suggestions both lhungil and I provided on how to better name your admin folder.
You could post a seperate message on the forum that you are looking for professional help and see what responses you get.. you could check out the many free lance websites out there..
Not a joke. RewriteCond statements preceding a RewriteRule determine if the RewriteRule will run.
Go back and look at the list of RewriteCond statements in your .htaccess file. In the .htaccess file you posted you will see the following:
This line says "Do not rewrite any requests made to any URI which starts with /backend".Code:# Don't rewrite admin directory
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/backend [NC]
There are also some other RewriteCond statements in the .htaccess which may potentially impact other URLs you are using if they match and are thus excluded. You may wish to look through your URIs and make sure nothing else conflicts.
not sure exactly what you are saying here but you don't really think i would put the name of my admin section publicly in this forum, do you?? it is not 'backend' - that would be stupid.. i changed it for display purposes here.. and just because someone questions you, doesn't mean they are 'arguing' - where in the world did we become so sensitive as a nation/world.. we are searching for answers here - it's just that simple.
I've already been to your admin page.. so has lhungil.. I'm not going to post it.. but I'll be happy to post a screenprint if you are just INSISTING on proof.. We guessed it based on the issue you are having and the URI that you are having an issue with.. that's why we are telling you that if you change it that the issue you are having will go away.. You don't have to believe us, but instead of arguing why not try making the change we suggest..
again NOT arguing - why do you people insist this.. i'm just asking questions and digging for answers.. why so sensitive?? and why the need to 'talk down' or 'talk superior' when you are obviously dealing with a newbie here.. not very friendly i'd say (if i were the sensitive type).. and yes i just changed it.. and yes it now works.. but i have to ask - why was that so hard to tell me many posts ago - why just say change your admin name because it's conflicting with your htaccess - instead of 're-read the readme' when it's obvious i've read that many times now and didn't understand it.. and if your answer is you were worried about my sites security, you could have very easily PM'ed me.. that kind of stuff is NOT free advice - it's just fishing for clients..
The only sensitive person here has been you. countrycharm, lhungil and myself continued helping you despite the fact that you have not been terribly nice at all in many of your responses. There was no superior talk or talking down.. That's YOUR interpretation perhaps, but it's FAR from the truth.
You're welcome.. glad you got it all worked out..
Hard?? How about:
- Because we didn't have THE ANSWER at the tip of our fingertips.. (we can't see your store so we have to rely on the information you provide to help you)
- It was clear that you hadn't made the crucial change that's laid out in the readme to get your products working (which is why I repeatedly pointed you back to it and even told you WHERE you would find the answer)
- At one point you made the statement that the instructions in the readme weren't going to help you accomplish what you stated originally what you wanted to do, but never said why you thought this was the case (ultimately you made the change suggested which accomplished what you stated you were trying to do)
- You didn't mention upfront that you were trying to use the Mapping Manager program to generate your URIs.. (this is IMPORTANT information)
- We didn't know what your .htaccess file looked like (until countrycharm asked you to post it and only after you FINALLY made the changes that I repeatedly suggested).
- After posting your category issue and the results of your .htaccess, lhungil took a GUESS and figured out that your issue was because your category URI included part of your admin folder name. I confirmed his findings and we BOTH posted an answer and a recommendation for renaming your admin folder for you. (to which you posted a few argumentative responses before making the suggested changes)
What was so hard??? Seriously?????
For the record I don't come to this forum "fishing for clients", and invite you to show where in my 5 year history participating on this forum, contributing modules and support, and occasionally asking for help from others where this has EVER been my M.O.
Oh that's right..
You don't have time to read the forum. Meanwhile I'm living my mother's basement, and spending all day on this forum (apparently fishing for clients) while you are too busy making money..
Glad you got it all worked out.. So let me hop in my Supercharged Mustang and head back to my mother's basement..
Happy Zenning..
dealing with you is like going to the dentist and asking him why your teeth hurt and he responds 'look it up online'.. i'd gladly give you a testimonial stating i'd never hire you.. i got to the answers i needed by persistence in the face of mocking and deriding. sure hope others on other threads are not this bad but i'm sure they are not as i've been doing this since 1979 and learned that there are always a small percentage of know it alls, who couldn't teach a first grader how to tie their shoes.. and this does not pertain to ANYONE else who tried to help me - some advice was good, some not but at least not condescending..
Ouch.. that really hurts my feelings.. Guess I'll have to fish elsewhere.. http://www.zen-cart.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif
Because of course you were so well mannered through the process..
Uh huh.. okay..
Wanted to bump this post by Conor so folks know where to go to get the latest version of this module. This was never able to be uploaded to the downloads due to the filesize of the package.. Dunno how long Conor's site is gonna be up now that he's no longer with us.. I plan to contact the admins to see if they will work with me to get it uploaded to the free downloads section.. In the meantime the link above is still good..
Thank you!
I grabbed all of my current licensed modules from his site after his passing was announced for fear of when the site goes offline.
Not to sound insensitive or anything, but I was really looking forward to his Product Variants module.
If you are in contact with whomever is the caretaker of his estate, perhaps see if they are interested in releasing any code to the community?
Personally would like to see the Product Variants finished and expanded upon (if necessary, as his code was pretty all encompassing).
I know its the wrong/unrelated thread, but it was the only post I saw regarding it.
You're very welcome..
I have no direct connection with Conor's estate.. I too hope to see his work carried on and I too was looking forward to seeing his products variants module being released.. I was simply trying to be a good citizen here and doing what I know Conor would want done.. I was given a temporary limit increase to submit his last version. It should be available in a day or two.. Will update here when I get confirmation..
have something really strange happening not sure if it's related to this mod as it's been running fine. but I'm getting two pages for my reviews if I click on the reviews side box I get this page http://www.rvsolarsystems.co.uk/Free...w?reviews_id=1 which is fine and as it should be
fi I click on the read reviews link on the product page I get http://www.rvsolarsystems.co.uk/Free...roller/Reviews and it's all messed up. Any help appreciated
It looks like the URL are being generated correctly. One is pointing to a specific review, the other is pointing to the review listing page for a product. You will want to update your website's Zen Cart templates for "reviews". Specifically the one used to list all reviews for a specific product.
One Review Display: "tpl_product_reviews_info_default.php" URL: ".../Review?reviews_id=1"
Review Listing Display: "tpl_reviews_default.php" URL: ".../Reviews"
If you need help, I would recommend asking in a new thread, or contacting the person who created the templates used by your Zen Cart theme.
You can also edit the product info template or the sidebox template to make the link the same if desired.
thanks just took a look at the template on the zencarttemplatesdotinfo site and it's showing the same issue
Ceon URI has a history of playing nice with anything but poorly coded modules.. The issue on the review that's messed up (I assume you mean the code that displays under your image) is NOT caused by this module.
In your case your issue is because of the Zen Lightbox module.. I reported this issue a while back on the Zen Lightbox thread, and never got a GOOD answer to resolve it.. So I instead found and shared a decent workaround for the issue.. (Search the Zen Lightbox thread for my post)
Thanks Diva didn't think it was this mod as It's been running great I'll have a look at your work round but as I stated just above your post I went to the demo of this template and it's has the same problems. I went back to Clydes comstock template cause I really like it as it's uncluttered, think I might have to dump it and find another :censored: as Clydes no longer with us and there's no support.
DivaVocals++;
I suspect DivaVocals is correct about the cause of the text next to the image + the messed up link.
I'm not so sure about the missing "read review" link (usually appears on the right side of each shortened review entry). But as I've never used those two plugins together, I cannot give more than an opinion / guess. DivaVocals is more versed in those two than I am :)
The issue only happens when you have a model number associated with a product and are using Zen Lightbox...
You found my post on the Zen Lightbox thread???? Glad you found it helpful.. It's not the BEST/RIGHT fix, but it solves the issue, and my client was okay living without the model number displaying on this ONE page..
Hello,
I have an urgent problem if someone could assist please.
I am running 1.3.9h and have the latest URI mappings/manager installed. It works great but when trying to go to page 2 or next the category has been stripped out. You can see what I mean here http://www.mcas.com.au/motorcycle-helmets-road click on page 2 or next and the link is mcas.com.au/?page=2 instead of http://www.mcas.com.au/motorcycle-helmets-road/?page=2.
I dont know how long this has been happening but is critical to be fixed. I cant see any other issues that would cause this.
In absence of any other indicators, my assumption at this point, is that it is an issue with the seo module but as I say I have upgraded and the issue persists.
Hi Everyone
My site is http://www.glasspipehq.comI am running zencart 1.51, fresh manual install with zx slideshow, Product_Images_on_Invoice_Email_etc, image handler4, and export shipping information plugins installed and a highly customized template with PHP Version 5.3.14 on the server. Server OS: Linux 2.6.32-279.19.1.el6.x86_64, HTTP Server: Apache, MySQL 5.0.96
I installed the latest version of this plug-in on my store and have it working but I would like someone to confirm it is working correctly. in IE the links look like this
http://www.glasspipehq.com/economy-spoons and http://www.glasspipehq.com/index.php?main_page=contact_us
in firefox and chrome
http://www.glasspipehq.com/economy-spoons#.USILQFGgR8E and http://www.glasspipehq.com/index.php?main_page=contact_us#.USILYlGgR8E
Is it possible to hide the part of the link in red? and not show the #.random part on the end or is this the correct behavior?
Also I have installed this into a existing store (the link above) and manually enabled it in my categories but the products are not enabled. Am I going to have to enable each product individually also?
Thanks for your time.
Freecat
Not caused by this module at all.. that's the tracking/analytics code that the AddThis code you are using adds.. You need to go to your AddThis account and deactivate their tracking/analytics if you don't want this..
Yes, and the readme for this module covers this..
Thanks for the quick reply Diva
I would have never thought about the addthis code doing that but I just started using that recently. I did read the read me but was kind of hoping that someone had created a script or way to add the uri code to all products at once and save me a bit of time but oh well I don't have a lot of products posted yet so doing them manually will not be to bad.
Thanks again

an someone please help here.. not sure if the URI mapping url should be appending with what looks like random text but it is.. for example - http://www.swordsofhonor.com/roman-g...l#.USPk_2fRHSg has a URI setting of roman-gladius.html and it is putting that text at the end of it.. now the page still comes up if you type http://www.swordsofhonor.com/roman-gladius.html but it immediately appends it with that text in the URL bar..
This is a bit of a strange one, I know
Say I currently have two categories named 'United States' and 'United Kingdom' with some products duplicated in each category.
Using the Multisite add-on, and plenty of geo-targeting these products are then served to their respective countries' sub-domains.
Currently, only one country uses ceon mapping uri's with the other countries' duplicate products keeping the default zen url, like
us.mydomain.com/product1-url
gb.mydomain.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1111&products_id=2222
I'm toying with the idea of getting the duplicates in both countries to have the same uri mapping, like
us.mydomain.com/product1-url
gb.mydomain.com/product1-url
It IS possible to create duplicate uri's in the database but doing that 'breaks' both products = 'product not found"
No doubt CEON mapping is doing its best to resist these duplicate uri's but I wondered whether there was a way to successfully have two products with the same uri mapping?
A bit of digging and I see there's an $avoid_duplicates parameter that can be disabled, a good enough place to start some more digging.
Amazing what making a few posts will do to focus the mind.
Managed to successfully disable duplicates - now off to do testing, testing and more testing.
Hi, I'm having trouble with updating the URI's of my EZ-Pages (categories and products work fine). I've followed the instructions given to do this, but all EZ-pages are still using their original addresses. All but one are standard Zen Cart pages.
The links are used in the header, footer and sidebox of my shop here www.powdermonki.co.uk - none of the links within these three sections are hard-coded. I've searched for help within this thread but haven't found a suitable reply.
Also, can anyone tell me how to update the standard Zen Cart pages (shopping cart, shipping, account etc.)? Again, I haven't found any clear instructions.
Thanks for any advice,
Sarah
Sorry it's hard to tell which links you are specifically referring to, but in general the issue you describe would tend to indicate that your template is not using the right coding for links.
There are instructions in the configuration section of the readme that comes with this module which explains how to create URI's for other Zen Cart pages. The section in FAQs is headed: Specifying the current URI Mapping for any other Zen Cart page. The section in Features is headed: Ability to use Static URIs for any Zen Cart page
Both sections should give you a good idea of what is needed to add URIs for other pages.. If it isn't clear for you what to do, please help the community to help you by letting us know what part is unclear for you..
Hint to what might be at issue in your template:
and then there's this:
The point is, this issue is likely to be traced to your template.. If it isn't properly coded to retrieve links using the zen_href_link() function, that would be the cause of your issue.. and the EASY way to verify what I am saying is the truth is to change your template to the classic template and see if the issue persists.. (My guess is that it won't)
Hello fellow Zen Cart users i'm having a bit of a problem figuring out why my product rewrite keeps sending me to my homepage and not to the new product url. I have installed all the files correctly as i'm not getting any errors in installation check. This is the link of the current product that has the url rewrite http://qualityautowi.com//index.php?...&products_id=9 and it should say http://qualityautowi.com//Cars/2005-Toyota-Camry-XLE, but when you go to that link it takes me back to my homepage. I'm not sure why this is happening. I have checked my config file and not seeing any problem's. Also tried both .index and /.index in .htaccess file. My hosting does support url rewrite. I think Zen Lightbox maybe causing the problem, but i'm not sure. I hope someone can help me solve this problem. Thank you
Not sure why you think Zen Lightbox would create an issue with a re=write module (there's no relation between these modules), but I and many others have used Zen Lightbox with this module and have had no issues.. So the issues you are having is somewhere else in your site setup, and I would start by looking at your configure.php file. the double slashes in your URLs are indicative of incorrect values in your configure.php.. Once you resolve that issue (which is not related to this module as it is a Zen Cart setup issue you have), double check your install and make sure you haven't left out any required files..
Well I have read somewhere on this forum that Zen Lightbox may cause problem's with this module. Anyway I did fix the issue with the double slash, which is caused by Hostgator automatic Zen Cart set up. As far as the install I have checked a few different times. The only problem I see that maybe causing a problem is in the admin section under configuration Ceon Uri Mapping that page looks like this picture. See I did install this module then I unistalled this mod and I think that is why it's not showing any information on that page. I'm kinda stuck and would really like to get this module working. I do appreciate your help. I would be willing to pm ftp information so you can check to see any problem's that maybe happening. If you are ok with that.Quote:

What you read is erroneous, there is no issue that Zen Lightbox could/would cause with this module..
Your screenprint only indicates that the module is installed incorrectly which would explain why you are having issues.. If you've made a backup of your site prior to installing this (as is the recommended course), I suggest rolling back and starting over with installing this module..Quote:

Thank you for your response. I have gone through every file and found a file that was missing, but that didn't change anything for that page. I really am at a lost here. I switched the template to classic to see if there may be any template issues, but its doing the same thing. I was hoping to get this working soon. This is a very good addon.
You still have an installation error. Otherwise this would be a known issue for everyone.. Please take my suggestion and rollback your store to the state it was before you installed this module and please try your install again.. Please read through the install instructions again before you begin your re-install..
But it is utterly unnecessary. It will have zero influence on your SEO, and (as you are seeing) causes more problems than it solves.
If your intention is to get traction on page ranking, then go fish where the fish are. Today, the direction is the semantic web, where embedded microdata is going to be the key to good SERPS. Go take a look at schema.org, and pro web's blog on embedding "rich snippets" http://pro-webs.net/blog/2012/09/25/...org-microdata/.
Get your site back to core behaviour as DivaVocals advises, but avoid the temptation to follow the ignorant masses by trying to restore this module. Focus on getting to grips with what the future trends are in SEO.
Not everyone uses these modules for some perceived SEO boost.. Some people WANT pretty URLs, and there's no harm in installing this module for that purpose..
Please don't take this the wrong way, but I have to ask, is this SUPPORT THREAD really the right place to have the "re-writer's don't help SEO" discussion in response to someone's request for help??? I get that you feel strongly about these kinds of modules.. Just seems that responding to support requests with an off topic post is not the right way to approach this... Why not PM the OP??
The only "problems" the OP is having can be traced directly back to installation errors..
I agree that this module is not an SEO magic bullet.. but again, that's not the only reason folks use this miodule.. if one wants pretty URLs, there's no HARM in using this module..
Ignorant masses?? Wow.. **SMH** That's LOT harsh.. It's a LOT over the top to characterize anyone who uses this module as ignorant.. That characterization also tends to suggest that the original author of this module was also ignorant.. and Conor was NOTHING close to ignorant.. I do hope that I read this a lot harsher than you meant it..
My suggestion for the OP to restore his site was to give him a clean place to start his install over.. At the end of the day his issue is not caused by this module, but by his installation..
I really appreciate your information schoolboy....I will look into your information you provided. The only reason I was trying to get this to work is for seo ranking. So I'm guessing it's not worth fixing this problem. Well with that being said I'm going to remove this from my site. Thank you for your help.
My only question is why does it say on the add on page that it will improve your search engine ranking.
The problem is that you have somehow fouled up the install.. This module works flawlessly, and most problems can be traced back to installation errors (which I am positive is the case for your install)
Not a discussion that should be conducted on this support thread.. This is a support thread for the module, not the place to conduct yet another LONG SEO discussion and to debate the merits or non-merit of using an URL re-writer..) Thanks for your understanding..
I have removed all files from site and now i'm having a bit of a problem. My site is showing HTTP 500 Internal Server Error. My site is qualityautowi.com. I can still log into the back admin, but the front of the site is having problem's. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
There is a tutorial in here that will help you
http://www.zen-cart.com/content.php?...in-admin-pages
Usually an Internal 500 error is a faulty install as DIVA has pointed out.
Did you back your site up before doing any installs?
If not ask HG to help you (i doubt they will as they are too big for their bitches)
Did you remove the entries in your .htaccess file that are required for this module to work?? Sounds like the Ceon entries are still in place in your .htaccess file.. Rollback your store to the pre-install state, and you should be good to go..
Going forward you ALWAYS want to back up your store and the database before installing modules.. This way you have a fallback position when you have issues or want to uninstall.. Never install another module before fully testing that the module you have installed is installed correctly and is working completely as it should..
I'm not getting any information in my cache folder. It shouldn't give me any errors at all. Also I did remove the .htaccess file that was required for this module. Don't know why this would be a problem.
Did you uninstall the way the read me files tell you too, or did you just go and delete files. I use the paid for version of Ceon URI Mappings and Ceon Mappings Manager and it works perfectly. It takes a while to install as you HAVE TO use a program like WinMerge to compare code as some files have changes in them - you cannot just overwrite your files. You also have to follow the instructions very carefully regarding your .htaccess file - the module in admin actually gives you the code to put in there.
The module is great, works well and Conar did a fantastic job with the installation instructions, so my guess is you are just missing a step somewhere.
Have a look in your cache folder now and see if there are any log files in there - these would help pinpoint errors too.
Error logs for v1.5.1 are in the LOGS folder..
You do not remove the .htaccess file only the changes you made to it to support this module..
I am going to suggest again that you simply restore your site and the database to the state it was BEFORE you installed this module..
**nods in agreement**
I fixed it I guess it didn't overide some of the files. I hate when that happens. Thanks for your help.
Ok I completely backup site to previous version and reinstalled the add on again, but I'm not getting anywhere. Still the under configuration it is showing the same thing. I have installed this on my localhost and that page is showing. So im completely lost here. I don't know what i'm missing. I've never had this kind of a problem with other add ons. Anybody with better information of why this is not working will be greatly appreciated. This is the 3rd time trying to reinstall this and getting nowhere. Thank you Also I always backup the site everyweek and I am using WinMerge for all modified core files.
Did you restore the site files AND the database?? The issue with your install seems to indicate that the admin page registration got fouled up. Those entries are in the database, and there are files to support this as well. So either the database entries are incorrect or the definition pages that go along with those entries are missing from your installation.. You should restore the whole site including your DB, and try installing again.. If you still are having issues you may want to consider finding a professional resource and paying them to help you straighten out your install..
