Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
I just installed Zen 1.3.9c and I am trying to get admin profiles to work. After installing it, the "edit permissions" option was nowhere to be seen, so I manually did the patches. After doing the patches, I now have the option to edit permissions, but the logo is not showing, and whenever I push "edit permissions" I get "page not found" and for some weird reason, in my URL, i get : ....admin/FILENAME_ADMIN_CONTROL.php?adminID=1
My zen version is 1.3.9c
The version of admin profiles is 1.0.7.1
I am using the "cold steel" template
I have also installed the following add-ons: Image Handler 2, Sales Report, Admin Activity Report, and Paypal Verified Sidebox.
Here is the link to my site: www.angelbabyscraps.com/store
I would appreciate any help I can get with this issue.

If the logo to which you refer is the icon then its absence together with the FILENAME_ADMIN_CONTROL text showing shows that you are missing (or have put in the wrong place) at least some of the files used
by Admin Profiles.
I recommend retracing your steps and in particular checking that all the files listed in step 2 (I believe) of the installation instructions are where they are supposed to be and have been updated by your installation. Some of them won't be, and that usually means all of them aren't.
I'm not sure that Admin Profiles 1.0.7.1 will work effectively with Zen Cart 1.3.9c. Or more precisely it probably will work, but will likely undo some of the Zen Cart upgrades.
There is an unreleased beta version for 1.3.9 linked to earlier in this thread which is specifically reformulated for 1.3.9, and is therefore less likely to have problems. But that is a beta and should only be used for test and development sites at this time.

Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
I would be interested in beta. Thanks for your input, I am pretty new to all of this, if its not obvious LOL. I may have put the files in the wrong place, I was a little distracted while I was installing.
If you would be willing to let me test the beta, I would really appreciate it. Thanks a bunch!

Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
You're very welcome to test the beta. There's a link to it in post #994.

Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
Thanks for helping me locate that. I just downloaded and will start the install. I will be back if I have any other issues, but hopefully it will work LOL

Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
HI all,
I've installed this module 1.0.7.1 on a ZenCart version 1.3.8a French one
All seems good ... except that some entries of some menu are not Displayed
I've noticed that the label of those entries contains some specific caracters :
Paramètres des attributs
Configuration du Thème ...
So could we override this functions if the admin logged in is the id=1 ?
How can I solve this malfunction ?
Thanks for your help

Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
Hi,
I've installed another module Sales Report
I've followed the README to add the specific part of code to be compliant with the Admin Profiles rules.
May be I've missed something, because the entry into the Menu is present even if the admin user logged in don't have access to this sales report module.
Did I've missed something ?
Thanks for your help.

Normally at the bottom of admin profiles, you'll find check boxes which you have to activate hence granting you access to these modules

I put out a beta version back in May (see post #994) but haven't had enough (read any) feedback to give me enough confidence to make that a formal release.

Hi Kuroi,
Thank you for your reply. Would the actual version 1.0.7.1 be compatible with Zencart 1.3.9D though? Since I've updated to Zencart 1.3.9D.

Except the fact that the ZC 1.3.8a french version seems to change the name of label into the database, so some natif label, comes into the third party, because of accent into their label name.

I don't really follow what you are trying to say. Assuming that you've installed the modules correctly that their language files properly in the correct folder, with correct definitions for your language, e.g. été would be été - è would be è ect. I hope that is what you are talking about.

Yes, BUT I've installed the package 1.3.8.a French, and I think that into the Admin part, the main menus are in french, and some Name are whith some é and the display is correct.
But some "Native" entries comes into the other modules, and when I check this entry and save the new settings, this one is not checked.
I think that this is due to the accent on entries.
I'd like to solve this trouble.
Thanks for your help pascal

Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
My zen cart is Version 1.3.0.1 I have an issue with my admin permission in the Tools/admin setting. I check them all, when I return it's not saved and it says
"Sorry, your security clearance does not allow you to access this resource.
Please contact your site administrator if you believe this to be incorrect.
Sorry for any inconvenience."
there are some add on s I installed like google analytics, email archiver,... and the box infront of them stays unchecked.
I also installed the security patch and rename my admin folder name. I 'm not sure if this name change has anything to do with it.
any Help would be great.

I don't recommend it. Although not tested in the wild, I have more confidence in the beta version which fixes a security vulnerability.

This is to do with installing the security patch. There was a special release of Admin Profiles 1.0.7.1 to make it compatible with the security patch, but I wouldn't recommend installing that on a 1.3.0.1 Zen cart (or at all really, see my previous post).
1.3.0.1 is very old and installing the security patch and renaming the admin is probably going to achieve little more than a false sense of security. You really need to be planning and executing an upgrade to a more recent version.

I'm having problems changing the manufacturers URL in 1.3.9d. Try as I might URL's don't seem to be saved when I try from the manufacturers screen in admin.
I'm testing out the beta admin profiles.. was wondering if anyone else had this same effect. Trying to locate the cause of the problem.

This ended up being unrelated.
Been using admin profiles beta for about a month now.. I haven't had any problems at all and my other admins love it.
One thing that was confusing. When I initially went to set up my profile I went into the permissions page as super admin and started clicking check all for my account so I could give total access. Hit save.. then logged in as myself. I didn't see anything at all.
Turns out there are check boxes for each top level menu. Those are unaffected by the check all boxes. Had to go in and click all those then I got my menus.
Maybe a "Grant all Permission" button at the top that really does check everything?

Admin Profiles controls access to pages. It makes no attempt and offers no tools for getting involved with the contents of those pages.

Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
I am using Zen Cart 1.3.9d, and I installed Admin Profiles 1.0.7.1 and I previously had installed the Moku Book Product Type v4.
Now, I don't have access to modify the Extras - Book Authors, etc. I get an error:
"Sorry, your security clearance does not allow you to access this resource. Please contact your site administrator if you believe this to be incorrect. Sorry for any inconvenience."
Maybe this issue is been posted before but this thread has 103 pages already. Please, help me. I need the Product Type Books more than the Admin Profile, but to use it is almost required. I have few people that will be entering data in the store and I don't want them to touch any other settings but the Catalog section. Any idea/help will be greatly appreciated. :(

Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
Did you give yourself permission to access to the new pages via the admin > tools > admin settings page?
-
Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
Thanks Kuroi.
The first time I set up the permissions, those sections were not listed on the Admin Settings section. But, after I read Kuroi's post I went back to check the Admin settings and I realized that the Books options were there now. After I enabled the new sections, I went to check the Extras Books options again and I realized again that I did not have access to some of them. I went back to Admin Settings and the sections that I did have access to were there now. Bottom line: Some sections or mods will not appear in the Admin Settings until you try to use them and get the permission error. So then they will appear in the Admin Settings. I am giving all the details so other zenners can try it too. Thanks. :clap:

Admin Profiles is a bolt on to the core Zen Cart structure, so it has to feed off scraps of information. Provided the box files are amended to its structure, it can recognbise new pages, but has no way of knowing about subpages until somebody tries to access them. Then it can auto-insert them. But it's appropriate that it doesn't just allow access until that access is explicitly granted.

Zen Cart 1.3.8a
I have installed and went through the install steps (The best that I could understand) and just can't see the icon in my admin area. I edited the english.php file and ran the patches....
I have spent 2 hours going back through and double checking and just at a loss of what could be wrong....
I am supposed to have the "admin" folder in the root directory correct???
(Pulling hair out screaming for help....)
-
Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
It sounds as though you didn't do the patches to admin.php.
-
Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
I carefully installed the Admin Profiles mod. I've spent a couple of hours re-checking all the files and re-checking Patches 1-3.
When I click Admin/Tools/Admin Settings I get a white screen with this:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '-', expecting T_STRING or T_VARIABLE or '$' in /home/content/44/6378844/html/admin/admin.php on line 317
admin/admin.php line 317 just contains: <tr> it looks to me.
Next, I had the bright idea to remove all of the empty lines, thus altering the numbering to only lines of code. Frontpage has no tool for this. Very tedious, and when I got done there were only 298 lines total! So much for that!
If this was old fashioned html I'd have a shot. PHP is a different story. Can anybody give me a clue as to what I should be looking for? ...and where?
Thanks!
-
Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
@abosch
Two issues. I haven't been near FrontPage for a many years time, so this may be unfair, but it used to be really bad even for html editing as it added stuff of its own to files that didn't more often than not got int he way. It was even worse for PHP editing as the stuff it added could break PHP. I'd hope all these years later it had gotten better, but maybe not.
Also, if you changed your lines, but the error is still reported on the same one, that suggests that your changes aren't actually getting to your web server.
I'd recommend starting again on the admin.php file, but using a good text or code editor (NotePad++ is free and very good).
-
Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
I got my issue resolved. Found an extra character and missing } in admin.php.
I usually use Crimson Editor for working with the files. I just dusted off Front Page because I wanted to navigate the line numbers.
Thanks for your response.

It should be, as long as you patch the files rather than using the 1.3.8 version provided.
There was a 1.3.9 version a while ago with extensive rewriting, so released as a beta, but there was very little interest, so it wasn't taken any further.

Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
Installing the 1.3.8 patch files on a 1.3.7 Zen Cart is a bad idea. However, that's not your immediate problem. The problem is that you haven't actually installed admin profiles, but rather a slightly dodgy offshoot, the name of which escapes me at the moment, but which is discussed earlier in this thread, but not supported here (or as far as I know anywhere).

Just to let you know I have installed the new version for 1.3.9 (admin_profiles_v1_1_0) on a test server and it seems to be playing the game just fine. I'll keep you in touch if there are any problems.
Not sure if you're going to support this or not. Frustrating I am sure not to have feedback.

Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
Kuroi,
Regarding v1_1_0.
In line 229ish of the functions/admin_profiles.php file it reads:
Code:
{ // remove adminID for users with cookies off, wherever it appears in the URL
$page = str_replace('?zenAdminID=' . (int)$_GET['zenAdminID'], '', $page);
$page = str_replace('&zenAdminID=' . (int)$_GET['zenAdminID'], '', $page);
I suspect that the (int) is a typo.

Admin Profiles Will Not Save Changes
Hello Kuroi,
I had a problem with my admin profile module. I just installed the google analytics module into my zen cart, then I went to the menu tools/admin setting to set the permission for that module.
The google analytics module is there and I could tick the module box, but it the system will not save the changes. Everytime the “Save Changes” button was clicked, system just direct me to the admin home page and did not save the changes. Actually besides google analytics, I have coupon restrict & email export module that I could configure since admin profile module does not save the changes.
Please kindly help.
Below is the version of system I am currently using.
Zen Cart ver 1.3.7.1
Database Patch level 1.3.7.1
Admin profiles ver 1.0.6
I have never upgraded my Zen cart
Kind regards,
Jimmy

Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
Hi Jimmy
I suspect that you have installed the Zen Cart security patch that added additional requirements to form handling, for which Admin Profiles needed tweaking.
Two options:
- Upgrade to a latter and more secure version of Zen Cart and use a version of Admin Profiles that has these changes built in.
- Do a comparison of Admin Profiles versions 1.0.7 and 1.0.7.1 and retrofit the changes between them to your version.
-
Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
Dear Kuroi,
Thanks for your prompt response. I will look at the options and try one accordingly. Again, thanks for your help.

Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
Hi Kuroi, I've installed this mod and it's awesome....no issues installing it here so far *knock on wood* lol
I do have a question though...please forgive me if it has been asked and answered, I did do a search :blink:
When I create a test admin user and restrict what they can access, they can still see customer and order information on the initial admin index page. If they click the links there they'll get the permissions denied message, but I would prefer them not to be able to see customer/order information if I haven't assigned them permissions to that area.
Is there a way to restrict certain info from showing dependant on permissions?
Lissa

Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
@LissaE
I know this has been covered before and am pretty certain that it's in this thread, though way back. Nearer the beginning than the current position.
In outline the solution is to wrap if statements around each of those blocks in the admin.php page to show them only if the logged in admin is in a list of those allowed to see them. So slightly tangential to Admin Profiles but using a approach with some elements in common.
-
Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
lol I figured it prolly had and I am just not putting in the right search terms LOL I will start from the beginning of the thread and hopefully find it (not sure what if statements to use LOL)
Thanx :D

Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
Hello Kuroi,
On regards with my query to you early this week (see Quote). I just remembered that last year I received a notice from Zen Cart advising that there is a security problem in admin area and asked the user to change the admin directory name. Therefore, I have changed the directory name. everything was running OK but admin profile.
Does this changes effect admin profile module? if so, what rectification should be done. please kindly advise. Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards,
Jimmy

Admin Profiles works from within your admin, so moving it makes no difference.
My hypothesis as to the cause of your problems remains as before and the options for fixing it are therefore the same.

Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
Hello
Have you got any feedback on the Beta release? I don't see it in the official upgrade and just want to make sure it's safe to install on a live site, just finished upgrading to 1.39 this weekend and having issues with the master admin login, trying to debug the issue (it is not related to this module, I am able to login in fine with 1.39 on the test server, just the live site is giving me hard time).
I am going through all the modules installed on the site and see if there were any new updates for 1.39 compatibility or security related releases so I am starting with this mod.
-
Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
Thanks for the great contrib!
Some third party contribs, such as Image Handeler, I had to mod the box file, others I didn't have to do any thing.
What determines if a third party contrib can be detected and added automatically by Admin Profiles?
Thanks! :clap:

OK, I think I figured it out. If you have third party contribs and don't want the link to show under a given menu for a given user, you will need to mod the box file for that contrib. Otherwise, it seems you don't need to mod the box file.
From my understanding, the box file mod only needs to be made if you wish to NOT show the link under a given menu for a given user. :flex:

It worked fine during our testing and on the two live sites that are running it. The only person who responded during beta testing, also had no problems with it. Haven't moved it forward since with so little interest, there doesn't seem like much point!

If we're talking about the main, rather than beta version, then if a third party contrib has a box file, it should be amended to the Admin Profiles approach.
Auto-detection is intended as a fallback rather than a substitite, and editing the file yourself offers the benefits of instant recognition, greater security and appropriate locating of pages on the Admin profiles pages.

Just installed the "beta" version 1.1.0 in Zen Cart 1.3.9f and it works perfectly. I hope the author continues to support it. Great contribution that is super easy to install and use.

Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
remove all of the '(int)' and do not leave the parentheses. It only effects you if you have cookies off anyway so is a pretty minor thing that wouldn't effect many people.

Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
Is this mod working in the latest 1.3.9h ZC ?
The mod requires some changes to files in:
admin/includes/box/* files.
example: admin/includes/box/catalog_dhtml.php
I wasn't confident with number of changes required.
I'm upgrading from 1.3.8a.

For anyone looking for 1.1.0 Beta, it's post 994, not 944. Or better yet
Download Admin Profiles v1.1.0 Beta for use with Zen-cart 1.3.9x
That should make it a little easier to find.
@kuroi: why not officially release this as an update to the plugin, after fixing the (int) typo referenced in post #1044
... with the appropriate warnings about being a Beta version?
Making this easier for people to find, might provide you with more feedback on the new version. Right now the beta version is buried deep within a very long thread.
I think this is a highly valuable plugin and was one of the things that helped me decide to use zen-cart. (I think this belongs as part of the zen-cart core)

Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
Quick question.
I am going through the files for the beta version (1.1.0) of AP and found the following.
The following files have no ending ?>
admin_profiles_data.php
admin_profiles.php
init_admin_auth.php
Is that by design or does it need to be added?
Thanks,
Rick

Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
I submitted an update, version 1.1.1, based on Kuroi's beta 1.1.0 which should be available soon. It is compatible with Zen Cart 1.3.9h. I suggest waiting for the update to be posted, if you're using 1.3.9h.

Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
What are the differences/changes?
-
Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
Will this mod allow users to be restricted so that the only thing they can do is view products? Not even edit or anything? I have a client who just wants to be able to allow her suppliers to login and view stock levels.
Thanks!

Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
The 1.1.1 version includes various changes in the install instructions, which includes files that need to be manually patched and corrected instructions for that, and a correction to a file (which was requested by an earlier post in this forum). I have it installed and working correctly on various 1.3.9h stores.
The mod lets you select what you want each admin to be able to see and access. It's fairly comprehensive.
If you're in a hurry, send a message to me with your email address and I can send you the zip file.

Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
The updated version is now posted. Again, I don't take credit for Kuroi's work, just wanted to get the new version posted for others, plus make the minor tweaks to ensure compatibility with 1.3.9h.
-
Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
I just installed the updated version, but every page in the admin is now blank, including the login screen. I'm not sure what the problem is? I installed on 1.3.9g.
-
Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
OK, the blank page only happens on certain pages. I don't know them all yet, but for example, it happens every time I try to clean the admin activity log. It also happens every time I try to save new user permissions. I checked the error log and this is the error whenever there is a blank page:

Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
It also happens whenever I add a new user. When I click Save, a blank screen comes up. If I go back and then refresh, the new user was created.
-
Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
OK, I fixed it. I apologize, somehow some blank lines got in some of the other files in the admin/includes/functions directory. I can't understand how it happened, but it all seems to be working now!

Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
Danielle,
Was there a problem with the updated contribution that you needed to correct? If so, please post the resolution.
-
Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
No, I explained in my previous post what the issue was. It was not the mod.

Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
Has anyone else had any problems running Apsona ShopAdmin and Admin Profiles with V1.3.9h? I have no problems with V1.3.8a.
On a stock install with only Admin Profiles and Apsona installed I get the following error:
Quote:
1064 You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'apsona_index');'' at line 1
in:
[SELECT id FROM zen_admin_files WHERE page = '#" title="Apsona ShopAdmin - opens in new window" onclick="apsona_showPopup('apsona_index');']
If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.
I started my post in the Apsona thread ( http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showpo...&postcount=155 ) but they have confirmed this is probably an Admin Profiles issue so thought I transfer the thread here. This was the reply from Apsona:
Quote:
I'm not sure I fully understand the way admin profiles works, but the SQL is definitely incorrect. The admin profiles add-on should be checking for the page named apsona_index.php, but instead it is page named this:
Code:
#" title="Apsona ShopAdmin - opens in new window" onclick="apsona_showPopup('apsona_index');
To me this seems like an error in the way the admin profiles add-on was configured. I am aware of some other folks on this forum that have used admin profiles in conjunction with ShopAdmin, so I hope one of them can help.
The file that causes this issue is /includes/boxes/extra_boxes/apsona_app_tools_dhtml.php
PHP Code:
<script type="text/javascript">
var apsonaWindow = null;
function apsona_showPopup (url) {
var win = window.open (url, "apsona");
if (!win) {
alert ("Your browser seems to be blocking popup windows.\nPlease change its settings to enable popups.");
return null;
}
apsonaWindow = win;
try { win.focus(); } catch (e) { /* Sometimes IE throws a security exception here, so I'm forced to ignore it. */ }
return win;
}
</script>
<?php
$za_contents[] = array('text' => "Apsona ShopAdmin", 'link' => '#" title="Apsona ShopAdmin - opens in new window" onclick="apsona_showPopup(\'apsona_index.php\');');
?>
If I delete it all functionality returns except I obviously don't have the Apson Menu under Tools. I can however access Apson by manually browsing to www.mydomain.com/admin/apsona_index.php
Hopefully someone can help me.:smile:

Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
Hi guys!
I installed admin_profiles 1.1.1 on the german version of zen cart 1.3.9. All the basic functions seem to work. But within the Configuration function list (in the admin backend) I find all links in german and english. Not within the tools, extras, etc. only within configuration.
What can I do to see only the german links in there?
Regards
Andy

Yes, I ran into the same exact error. Thanks for the information on deleting the apsona_app_tools_dhtml.php
At least I can access my Admin now, if not directly access Apsona....can get to it round about....but would be nice to fine how to fix this error.
One other thing, on the Admin Settings panel, I get the "permissions" icon twice, not sure why...
-
Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
I have the same issue with apsona and admin profiles... but cant even access apsona manually by apsona_index.php , I get denied permission... any fix for this?
-
Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
Had to uninstall this mod.. Too much denied access to third party software.. There needs to be some adjustments made to allow things otherwise an awesome mod if you do not need to install anything else.
-
Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
Yes, you need to go into your TOOLS>Admin Settings, and select the P icon (for permissions) for you user login.
Then, make sure you select all the menus/tools/mods that you want your logon to have access too! (It's the purpose of this mod to allow you to set what permissions/access each admin logon has access too, as part of that, you have to make sure you give your "master" admin access to everything!)
For the Apsona access, you need to make sure you have checked/selected the following:
salemaker info
salemaker popup
apsona index
Once you have given yourself permission to these contributions, then you should be able to input that address into your browser address bar, and it should take you to the Apsona module.

Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
Thanks, but also other mods like amazon mod doesnt work show up in the admin menu at all... Hopefully there will be a fix so that you can use things without typing in specific locations. Although this mod is awesome for security/control of other admin users.

Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
Simple way to restrict access within pages
e.g stats on the main page
Get the admin id's that you want to allow access to the content
Insert above
The first <div class="reportBox"> about line 80
<?php if ($_SESSION['admin_id = 1,2,4,']) { ?>
Insert below the second closing </div> around line 167
<?php } else { ?> Insert any Content here you want to show to restrited access<?php } ?>
It's simple but it works, hope it helps
Cheers

Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
ZC Version: 1.3.9h
Upgraded from 1.3.8a to latest; all working perfectly, then tried to upgrade Admin Profiles and all I get are white pages. Have checked the code for white space, syntax errors etc and I can't see why or how it's happening...any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
Peek in the /cache directory and it should show debug logs to indicate where the problems may be ...
If you see no error logs then make sure the /cache directory is writable ...
-
Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
No error logs and directory was 777, so went for uninstall/reinstall and it's now working great.

Re: Admin Profiles Support Thread
Hi,
I tried to install Admin Profiles and CEON URI Mapping. The problem is that you can't access CEON module in the Admin panel if you have Admin Profiles installed.
Do you know the way how to fix this problem?
Thanks.

You may not have allowed Admin to show you CEON. Try going into Admin and checking (often at the bottom of the page) access to CEON. I do not know if that is it but people often forget to give themselves access to new programs.

Thanks a lot. It was in permission screen for main admin account. I was sure that for main admin everything is switched on by default. So, it's working now.
