Hi.
I just installed the Sitemap XML v.2 module. I think everything is fine, but the "sitemap.xml" in the root folder is empty. With other websites I've designed, this is usually full, or has something in it. I would think that this file in the rootfolder would have code that points to the xml files in the in the "sitemap" folder? There's is no document tree or code that points to these other xml files.

I am a bit confused by this instruction:
"You can specify the location of the Sitemap using a robots.txt file. To do this, simply add the following line:
Sitemap: http://<your_shop_url>/sitemapindex.xml
This directive is independent of the user-agent line, so it doesn't matter where you place it in your file.
If you have a Sitemap index file, you can include the location of just that file. You don't need to list
each individual Sitemap listed in the index file"
This url points to my site's site map and not the index of the sitemaps (sitemap.xml) which I think is what we need to give to Google, right?

And in the original plugin contribution, there's English and Russian but the /includes/languages/english/sitemapxml.php doesn't differ from the /includes/languages/russian/sitemapxml.php

I have used this plugin for a lot fo time and it works perfectly.
I wonder if now it shuold be updated for the rich sniippets.
It seems to me that there is a conflict between thw data google collects on his own about rich sippets and the data google find in the sitempaproduct file.
I may be worng but after updating the sitemap product the rich snippets data disappaered.

Since I am on godaddy, they have kind of a wizard that sets the time to run, so I assume that the 0 5 * * * is unnecessary for me, my currernt command line is:

Thanks for the reply. I don't use SEO URL/image urls or IH. It does about 16,000 urls but that is about half. Maybe have a option to split sitemap into 10,000 urls then it reloads to avoid the timeout or maybe use the code in big dump http://www.ozerov.de/bigdump/ that breaks it into parts on the file and reloads so timeouts can be avoided. It won't put as much stress on larger servers also as I guess some people run the cron frequently. I can't really afford to upgrade again so would a donation help to get this feature added and if so how much?

I tried mysql for duplicates and turning it to false but no luck. I decided to time a forced sitemap and the script seems to stop after about 8 seconds. I guess there is mysql limits (connection time and memory) that I am reaching. I don't have access to change these. I'll think i'll stick with the products I have in the sitemap and save up for a vps.

I installed Xampp locally and imported the database. I then find and replace localhost with my url and ftp up the xml. Worked great.

OR possible to keep same priority for category, and same priority for products?

I just ran a check on my site map using http://validator.w3.org it came up with the following:

I have the mod running on my 1.5.0 shop however i'm constantly getting emails (via the email on 404 mod) that search engines reached a page-not-found page, and it is when they are trying to find the sitemap,
Here is one of the emails i get (this one is from bing bot)

How can I support UTF8 symbols in the sitemaps?
Currently I have installed Ultimate SEO (latest version) and it's working fine with cyrillic symbols at first sight.
When I try to make sitemap the indexed link is something like that: Свещ-Уют-p-183.html
It opens just fine but the link stays that way in the browser and probably google will have problems with it?
Do I have to manually make all files from this contribution UTF8?

It's a common practice to have cyrillic symbols in the links (when you copy/paste they copy/paste as encoded) but when you follow the link it get 'readable' for the user in their browser address bar.
My problem is that in the sitemap it doesn't get the proper link (the encoded version you pasted above) but some hieroglyphs as I pasted in my first post in the thread. If I follow that link the proper page opens but the address is still the same (it doesn't change neither to cyrillic or encoded version of the link).

I installed the latest version on 1.50 and when I go to Tools/Sitemap XML I copied and pasted the link in both Firefox and Chrome ( I wanted to make sure it was working properly) and on Firefox I get this error:

In a matter of 20 minutes your store will be crawled from your desktop and there will be sitemap generated for every link on your website. Then you just have to upload the sitemap, that geositecrawler saved to your desktop, to your site, and maybe make a note in your robots.txt if you feel energetic.
It's free, so there is nothing in this for me except the good feeling that I may have helped someone.

Forget about issue 1 I have now understande that I need to use the button view to view the file content.
Issue 2 in now limited to the configuration page ( I think the cache was driving me crazy about the tools page.)
In the config page, sme of the def are missing and I see things like TEXT_CONFIGURATION_TITLE_SITEMAPXML_DIR_WS instead of the definition.

That is a difficult one to answer. Nobody can tell the search engines *what* to index. They have their own algorithms and rules for figuring out what they will include and won't include, or how much of a site they will include. These rules change frequently and are not made public. in addition, there are issues such as the age of the information, the overall importance the search engines have assigned to your site, the crawl frequency the search engines have set for your site, etc. How many pages of your site are indexed, and which pages those are can vary from search engine to search engine and from week to week even in one search engine. Yeah, it's complicated. What you can do is make sure that the pages are listed in the XML sitemap for the site, and make sure the pages have good content and valid, search engine (and user) friendly markup, and the search engines will get them indexed.Quote:

I am running zencart v 1.3.9f. I have followed all the instructions as directed. After completion when I got the sitemap url which I fed to google, bing... I get this error message:

I get this a 404 not found message.
