Some people were using install guides meant for ver 1.3 with ver 1.4. Readme included with module install files contains install instructions. Suggest you too read a few pages back before you install anything.. In fact I say this frequently.. You should ALWAYS read through the support thread for ANY mod before installing it to get a sense of the issues and common error, etc if they exist..

Search this thread (not the whole forum) for Kiddo) and the threads referencing her fix will easily be located..

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
I had read through a lot of the posts but must have missed where it gave the Numinix version. Quite funny that I search on "latest install guide/instructions" in this thread, but people kept saying they used "this version of Numinix". Anyway, all good got the install instructions and found Kiddo's Fixes.

Thanks for your reply DivaVocals!

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
DivaVocals - I have read through all the installation directions from Numinix and the comments below. I was going to install the mod directly from zen-cart mods or the author's site (both look identical), but these directions say to download their version. I see that you commented to Numinix about combining the modules to include the sideboxes. Do you know if they did? I did not see a response back to you. And, if they didn't, do you know will it be safe to use the zen-cart mod but with these directions. I want to be sure I do it right the first time, since I see so many people having problems. Thanks!

As far as I am aware, the Numinix embedding solution is ONLY available from the Numinix website..

BTW, I wasn't asking Numinix to combine his embedding solution with my WOZ sideboxes only solution.. That would be up to Numinix if he decided to do that.. I was instead laying out MY plan to combine the Numnix embedding solution with my WOZ sideboxes only solution to get feedback on my plan.. I was hoping to work on testing this plan this past weekend, but the holiday and a catastrophic failure of my primary PC stopped my efforts.. So nope, I haven't tried it yet, but in theory it should work..

Just so we're clear, you seem to be mixing apples and oranges here with regards to the links you posted..
- Kiddo's fix is ONLY for WOZ v1.3.
- Numinix's blog embedding solution is a COMPLETELY separate blog embedding method from WOZ..
- My WOZ sidebox only solution takes the WOZ code and strips out all of the blog embedding code so that ONLY the sideboxes from this mod can be used..
-
Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
Yeah, I figured out later that Kiddos fix was not to be used with me doing Numinix's integration files. I tried to delete my comments on here after realizing this, but I didn't see a delete button?!?
I finished installing Numinix's but get the empty blank page like others were reporting for http://animalsuperstore.com/zenpro/i...main_page=blog. Unfortunately, when those users finally fixed it, they didn't post a solution, just that they fixed and asked about another problem. His site for leaving comments is errorring right now too :no: And, I guess this support thread is for Hira's mod.

Re-check your install.. Seems like everyone using the Numnix solution has success first go round with it..

Yep.. You should post a question for Numinix regarding his solution on his blog or forum.. I imagine any error on his site will be resolved in short order..

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
First time posters have to be approved.
If you ever get a blank page, use the strict error reporting feature of Zen Cart. This is regardless of the module or page.

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
Kburner it's, #1087! I missed it too! That's the problem with so many threads, pages, mods. I really did some research and took a lot of time trying to find the best mod, best documentation, and best desired method for my site, yet still could not find all the info. And, would be nice if managed better all in on place. Got to say Misty and especially Diva have put some good stuff together I see. Wish I saw this info in the beginning that Diva outlined. Either way, it seems like I did pick the best which is the Numinix solution so was happy to read her comments with great recommendations on it. Wish every mod was listed in Zen-Cart mods and they all included: Rating, comments, demo store, installation docs (including anyone that created another one), and comparison of what the new mod has over the older ones. Wishful thinking I guess, but would save people so much more time with running through hundreds of forums all over the place.
Diva - I did go over my install a few times and my .htaccess configuration. But, I will try to take this up with Numinix from here on out so no worries! Thanks for all your help with these mods. Especially since Hira rarely supports, so it's nice to have someone help. And Misty as well! :D
Numinix - If comments need to be approved, I still don't see my comments from yesterday (I also emailed you to let you know about your site and threw in my problem as well). I got a blank page when I submitted my comment so it never said it needed to be approved?!? Damn blank pages again. lol. My username there is azdolfan. How long on average does it take to appear for first time? Once I can get in touch, I'll get off this thread.
Thanks to all!

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
1) Numinix Mod for Wordpress Integration http://www.numinix.com/blog/2009/09/...n-cart-1-3-8a/
I fixed the Numinix issue!
Problem: Blank Page
Install Directions: Directions in step 3 -
Open includes/wordpress_page.php and change
require('../wordpress/wp-blog-header.php');
To use your wordpress folder name that you chose previously. If your Zen Cart folder is in the root, remove “../”.
Solution: I removed ".." and not "../".
Otherwise this mod was a breeze other than the CSS work I will need to do later. Note: Strict Error Reporting did not display anything, but Enable Error Logging did and helped me resolve.
2) WordPress Theme Generator http://www.yvoschaap.com/wpthemegen/
Was a breeze as well but did get errors when loading in WordPress...
"Warning: fopen(/home/content/c/s/l/cslakans/html/zenpro/wordpress/wp-content/themes/WPThemeGen070110/style.css) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/content/c/s/l/cslakans/html/zenpro/wordpress/wp-includes/functions.php on line 3598
Warning: fread(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /home/content/c/s/l/cslakans/html/zenpro/wordpress/wp-includes/functions.php on line 3601
Warning: fclose(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /home/content/c/s/l/cslakans/html/zenpro/wordpress/wp-includes/functions.php on line 3604
The active theme is broken. Reverting to the default theme"
However, after it doesn't activate if you say activate again it does. And all seems well?!?
I removed the right sidebox in WP and the blog fell into place. Still need some CSS work tho. Later I did read DivaVocals thread about this program which made me realize I didn't remove from all the files needed. Thanks again DV! http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showpo...postcount=1034
So I was feeling all warm and fuzzy inside at this point and now on to....
3) WordPress On ZenCart - Sideboxes Only Edition v1.0.zip http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showpo...postcount=1036
Didn't go as well as the others....I had to remove it and my blog is still not there. And, when loaded and sidebox enabled, my pages would never finish loading.
Some of the problems I ran into....
Directions #2: In your ZenCart configure.php (includes/configure.php) around line 40 is the direct path to your store. Since you are putting WordPress in it's own directory, as in "blog", all you would have to do in your wordpress-config.php file is add the path to ZC and then add "blog/" at the end.
Problem: Numinix had us rename the blog directory to Wordpress so my ABSPATH ending up be wrong. I had this:
(/home/content/c/s/l/cslakans/html/zenpro/blog//wp-includes/classes.php)
Resolved: changed blog to wordpress and took out the extra "/"
Problem: Got "there doesn't seem to be a wp-config.php file".
This one a little harder to troubleshoot since it calls text by WP to help you create a wp-config.php file and so it didn't register with my enable error logging. But, figured it out and then when I did, found a lot more instances of this thoughout files....
(/home/content/c/s/l/cslakans/html/zenpro/wordpresswp-content/themes/default/sidebar.php)
Resolved: Changed files to (ABSPATH.'/wp-content.php') With the "/" before file! Note this example not for wp-config.php but was the quickest that I got from my error log. Point being it happens to about 4 different files and in about 8 different places.
Once I got those all fixed my page finally was loading, however, it would never finish loading my pages. I turned off the sidebox and it helped load the pages faster however, at some point I lost my blog. I renamed all the files in this mod as to revert back and my blog is still not there anymore. Does load faster but still not the same! Whoa is me! Tho I'm on Godaddy servers, so who knows they could be having ANOTHER spike in overload!
Sorry, so long but wanted to leave info to others of problems I ran into and resolved. Also, the wp sidebox only mod had readme notes saying it hasn't been tested with Numinix's integration, but should work. So wanted to give feed back there.
My missing in action blog on my site: http://animalsuperstore.com/zenpro/i...main_page=blog
Note: I only started learning code and zen carts in the last 2 months, so I'm still learning it all. Bare with me! :P

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
Thanks for trying Misty! lol Nothing worse than dealing with code problems on a server that decides to not respond at times. :frusty:
I've actually been on the phone with Godaddy last couple of days and talked about their grid hosting servers that don't have resource and overload problems (so they say). But will need to backup and import everything first. I bought a 3 year hosting plan with them so not sure about moving?!? But their servers were inconsistent spikes and this loading problem is consistent since loading the last mod. And, that was about 4 hours ago.
Is there anyone out there that has installed the Numinix mod and the WordPress On ZenCart - Sideboxes Only Edition together? Maybe not anything to do with them integrated, but heard they both work fine apart?!? And, can't figure out why it's still acting this way after renaming all of the WP sidebox only edition's files so it's no longer seen?!?
-
Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
It's loading in seconds now and nothing done! Freakn Godaddy! I didn't know they had servers that work better with certain applications like Zen Carts?!? Still have no blog and sidebar though! Would feel really better if I at least had my blog since renaming the files.

I really appreciate the DETAILED posts.. (so much more helpful for others than "it doesn't work":smile:)
As I said, my WOZ sideboxes only solution had not been tested with Numinix's solution, and I surmised that in THEORY it looked like it MIGHT work.. I finally have some time so I'll test this weekend and post my results too.. So I'll let you know if my results vary, and what I did if they do..

So here's the results of my Day 2 testing..
Recap:
This is a vanilla install of Zen Cart v 1.3.8a with WOZ v 1.301. (http://zen138blog2.overthehillweb.com/)
Results with the WOZ sidebox positioned on the left side:
- ANY blog posts dated AFTER the initial blog posts will throw the "Sorry, no posts matched your criteria." error.
- New posts will appear in the "Recent Posts" lists, but do not appear on the main blog pages, or the category and archive listings.
Results with the WOZ sidebox positioned on the right side:
Oddly if I move the WOZ sidebox to the right side, then these issues no longer occurred.
Conclusion:
Clearly WOZ behaves differently (correctly) depending on WHERE you position the sidebox. I've tested some theories having to do with the position of the sidebar in the WordPress template, but that netted no different result whatsoever. I’ve NO explanation for this bizarre behavior..

This sounds like just what I want. Please give me more detail about how you did this. my head is spinning from all the info in this thread. also, my current blog is on blogspot (google) would love to keep it that way but I am flexable if it means tieing all together. also can you share the site address so I can see how it looks.

While EZ pages could do this, my client was having a difficult time grasping how to add content using EZ Pages, and then adding links to the EZ page in her sideboxes. I needed to give her an easier method for adding content. Plus a nice bonus is that WordPress has built in content archiving features which means my client doesn't have to keep coming to me to create content archives for her. Now she can add pages to her heart's content..
The WOZ sideboxes make the blog content easily available from ZenCart and the regularly refreshed blog content probably has the added bonus of improving her SE rankings.. Though I'm not embedding the blog in ZenCart, I used WP links along with the WOZ sideboxes to tie the two together (very nicelyI'm sure her blog has driven traffic to her website.

Can't use this mod with Blogspot blogs. This module is meant for WordPress blogs hosted on your webserver only (as opposed to WordPress blogs hosted on WordPress.com)..
Information about my WOZ sideboxes only solution is posted several times in this support thread.. Suggest you read through this thread to get some background on how it works and some of the "issues" that have been discovered.. You might want to start back at page 108 to get the full picture of this mod as well suggestions for other blog linking/embedding options including testing information..
As you read through you will see that there is lots of details and summary posts which include referential links (including links to the WOZ sideboxes only solution you are inquiring about). Also you will want to read through the WOZ readme files to get a better understanding of what this mod does.
HTH..

Yes and yes.. Also as I stated in my earlier post (
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showpo...postcount=1076) I am using the latest version of WordPress (v2.9)
My conclusion is this:
WOZ v1.4 is buggy and simply does not work. NO ONE should be using this module unless you are ready and able to troubleshoot and correct the issues with this module yourself
MY Recommendations???:
Here's a thread that discusses all the various blog embedding options.
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=144224
Frankly the only thing I will probably continue to use from this module are the sideboxes. Even if v1.3 works, it falls to hell in a handbasket when I apply any SEO module to it.. I know that the key to the conflicts with WOZ and SEO modules lies in the code that is in the WOZ configuration file. (I'm just not sure what the correction to the code should be)
I will continue to monitor this thread, and try testing things here and there, but frankly IMO there are BETTER methods for embedding blogs that don't require this much hammering to work. I wish Hira could help, but sadly that doesn't seem to be a reality.

Problem with installation
I just installed WordPress via a SimpleScript to a directory ("blog") at the root level within my Zen-Cart. It installed perfectly and I followed instructions in regard to the ZC implementation. The blog is working (www.db8zone.com/blog) but my storefront has disappeared. PLEASE HELP - I haven't modified any other files. Is this due to a database error of some kind? WordPress is not using the same database as ZC. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
I am using the latest version of Zen Cart and the latest version of WOZ. I have read through the entire forum extensively, and there seems to be a lot of conflicting information and even some technical help for related mods that does not apply to WOZ.
My website is: http://www.OurCollegeTown.net
The blog address is: http://www.ourcollegetown.net/BearZone/
I have the mod installed and the sidebar shows up correctly on the zen cart website. However, whenever any of the links are clicked, I get blank pages.
The links appear as: http://www.ourcollegetown.net/?p=156
Is this the correct format of the links? I noticed that on the websites that work, the links sometimes carry a different prefix: ?main_page=wordpress&p=3
However, on my site, even http://www.ourcollegetown.net/?main_page=wordpress shows a blank page.
I have the following code in my html_header file:
PHP Code:

<?php if ( is_singular() ) wp_enqueue_script( 'comment-reply' ); ?>
<?php woz_wp_head(); ?>
<!-- for woz EOF -->
I have the following in my Wordpress-config file:
PHP Code:
$woz_install=0;
if (ABSPATH != NULL && file_exists(ABSPATH . 'wp-config.php')) {
$woz_install = 1;
define('WP_USE_THEMES', true);
$wp_did_header = true;
require_once(ABSPATH . 'wp-config.php');
wp();
$i = strlen(DIR_WS_CATALOG);
$req = substr($_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'],$i,1);

$_GET['main_page'] = FILENAME_WORDPRESS;
}
if(is_feed()){
gzip_compression();
require_once(ABSPATH . WPINC . '/template-loader.php');
exit();
}
}
?>
Do you have any idea of how to get the content to show up? I have already tried Kiddos fix, and not noticed any difference. I have since uninstalled it.

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
If you read through the support thread you will see that the general consensus on ver 1.4 of WOZ (the latest version) is as follows: It doesn't work, and no one has a clue how to get it to work..:smile:

I have the mod installed and the sidebar shows up correctly on the zen cart website. However, whenever any of the links are clicked, I get blank pages.
The links appear as:

Is this the correct format of the links? I noticed that on the websites that work, the links sometimes carry a different prefix: ?main_page=wordpress&p=3

Should be using latest version of zencart, and VERSION 1.3 of WOZ,
with kiddo's fix...this setup is outlined in this thread,

Thanks. Just so that I am clear, when downgrading to 3.1, I only have to change the zen cart files, not the WP ones as well?

I would remove all the WOZ 1.4 folders/files first, then replace those with WOZ 1.3
Might want to back up whole site and databases BEFORE
carrying out this exercise.
:wink:

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
Ok, moved over to 3.1. I am now getting the ABSPATH error. I am using the same path as before which allowed it to work with 4.0. Am I supposed to be using a different path now? Can something else cause this error?

Yes, removed the header info. I got the impression from reading other's posts that it was possible to use different directories and get them working. Is that just wrong? And, if so, is there an easy way to export and then import 100+ blog entries?

Not necessarily, just that personally have never achieved that format...
so if you wish to go down that road, then a zencart user who has will have to supply info for you.

Problem with Sidebox Only Edition
I loaded numinix wordpress integration with the blog in the wordpress directory and everything worked fine. I then loaded the sidebox only edition. The sideboxes seem to work fine but now the blog just returns "Not Found Sorry, but you are looking for something that isn't here." I rechecked the installation several times and everything is loaded per the instructions. The website is located at http://classwebsitebuilder.com/blog
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
Ok, I have followed your advice and removed WOZ 4.0 and downgraded to 3.1. Unfortunately, I am back to the same problem and have blank pages again.
My site is: http://www.OurCollegeTown.net
Wordpress is: http://www.OurCollegeTown.net/BearZone
I have kiddos script up and running.
Interestingly, the post titles do show up on the blank pages.

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
I deleted all 1.4 woz and loaded V1.3 and WOZ sidebox. I did change as per Josh instructions. I did see the WP at www.burnerbooks.com/blog at one time. Now, lost my wp page and admin...
I found my wp page, but not admin at: www.burnerbooks.com/?main_page=wordpress
And it has my site to the left of it all bunched together.
My includes/extra_config/word_press.config
define('ABSPATH','/home/xxxxx/public_html/blog/');
How do I get WP without my site? I just want my website to link to it.
And how do I find WP admin?:frusty::frusty:
Thanks, Kim

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
I am still running into the same problems after a week of working with it. Can someone please simply confirm that WOZ 1.3 is capable of working with WordPress 2.91 and the latest version of Zen Cart?
The blog posts are showing up in my sidebar at: http://www.OurCollegeTown.net which makes me believe my ABSPATH is set correctly. I have also reinstalled wordpress in the same directory as Zen Cart. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is there any chance of getting a specific page reference? Just before you posted, I read the last fifteen pages of this thread and could not find one that has a link that works as of today for me to look at.

Start at page 109 of this thread and work your way forward.. I did lot's of testing and posted all my results including links to the test blog I created.. The only quirk I noted is that the location of the blog sidebar seems to affect the blog behavior.. (All of this is detailed in my posts..)

Now running on PHP 5.2.8 here:

Same problem I was having (see post #1115 #3) if you ignore that it wasn't loading. That was my host servers behaving badly. But I lost my blog as you did. My sidebox data was also exceeding the sidebox. I wonder if Numinix has tried this with their mod?!? I wasn't able to post on their forum so can't even ask :( If you solve this issue, please post your solution.
Btw, you know you have errors on the very bottom of your site as well?

Doubtful.. It was own little theory that these two things MIGHT work together.. I don't know if Numnix is going to be able to help you get these two working together..

I did post on the numinix forum, they suggested contacting the author of the WOZ sidebox module for the correct method of integrating.
I'll let you know if I find a solution, please do the same.

He doesn't speak English and hasn't been around in a while, so help there is doubtful as well! I really want the sidebox, so I'm beginning to think I'm going to have to restore my files and database then install WOZ one version back and that patch by someone else mentioned earlier in this forum. But, I'll give it a little more time just in case someone comes along and helps. Good luck! And keep us posted!

Aloha out there,
I'm having a problem with the template override. It is successfully working for the blog itself but on individual posts, it is utilizing a different format. Take a look here:
http://www.db8zone.com/?main_page=wordpress
vs.
http://www.db8zone.com/blog/?p=21
What have I forgotten? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Best wishes out there in the ether...

I did a complete uninstall of EVERYTHING related to WP mod again.
I am going to start over fresh again. I think this may be my third time.
My goal is to have blog OUTSIDE of my webstore. I do NOT want it embedded into my site. I want WP to link to my store and store to link to WP. It would have been nice to have archieves, etc link...but coud not get to work.
Question:
If I just install WP via my host with control panel...can I just install an editable sidebox and load links on my website? Or maybe even use banners??
Thanks, Kim
-
Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
Why not use my WOZ Sideboxes Only solution.. It uses ONLY the WOZ sideboxes which brings in the blog links to your store. Then on the WordPress side I added links back to the store by using the links widget and adding top and bottom navigation points back to the Zen Cart store.
Take a look at these site to see how I handled linking the blog back to the store:
http: // hairisle . com
http:// lanikshair . com
These are just a few ways this can be achieved.. I'm sure you can think of other ways to execute this..

Then you had to have installed it incorrectly.. My sidebox only solution DOES NOT embed the blog at all.. In fact it removes all the blog embedding elements so that all you are left with is the sideboxes.. If you tried to install WOZ 1.3 and ONLY use the sideboxes, you might get the result you are describing.. Did you follow my posted instructions for how to use WOZ with ONLY the sideboxes or use the WOZ sideboxes only zip file I posted in this support thread??

I followed Josh's instructions. Where is the link to yours? I will try it again. Thank you.
I want to make sure I do it correct...load WP from host, load v.1.3 (downloads area) and load your sidebox install?

No.. Josh's instructions have NOTHING to do with the WOZ Sideboxes Only solution.. His install instructions are only for WOZ.. The WOZ Sideboxes Only solution is NOT installed ON TOP OF the WOZ module.. It is installed INSTEAD OF the WOZ module.. (It is meant to be a completely different module which is BASED ON WOZ v1.3.. There is a readme file included which explains how to install it.. You would NOT run the two together..)
If you search this thread you will find this link and all the other postings I've done regarding this solution.. (Including a WOZ Recent Posts sidebox) http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showpo...postcount=1036

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
Hi all,
I just want to followup and show everyone what worked for me.
I tried WOZ 1.3 and 1.4 and could not get either to work after a week of trying.
I have now gone with the following solution:
Note: I am using Worpress 2.91 and Zen Cart 1.38a on PHP 5
My blog is housed in a separate subdirectory from my store.
1. Install the Numinix method for integrating Wordpress and Zen Cart. (It took me a while to figure out that changing the folder name for the blog is mandatory for this to work).
2. For integration of the blog, I used sidebox banners to drive traffic to it.
3. To add the blog content to my store, I followed the instructions form this page to add the article titles where I wanted them. http://www.corvidworks.com/articles/...on-other-pages
At the top of the define page:
<?php
// Include Wordpress
define('WP_USE_THEMES', false);
require('./blog/wp-load.phpNOTE THIS IS THE ABS ADDRESS OF YOUR BLOG');
query_posts('showposts=3');
?>
and then the following where I want the content to show up:
<?php while (have_posts()): the_post(); ?>
<h2><?php the_title(); ?></h2>
<?php the_excerpt(); ?>
<p><a href="<?php the_permalink(); ?>">Read more...</a></p>
<?php endwhile; ?>
To see a working store with all of this implemented, visit: http://www.OurCollegeTown.net

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
Thanks for the article link.. It gives me an idea how to create sideboxes to work with the Numinix embedding solution.. (Since CLEARLY based on other posts, my WOZ Sidebox Only solution will not) If I can figure out how to make this work, I will share with the community.. (and that will end ANY need for anyone to use WOZ ever again IMO)
As for your solution, my only comment is that the link to the blog in your store needs to be omni-present. It only shows when the blog banner "happens" to come up in the banner rotation, and truthfully I could only see it more frequently when I "forced" the blog to show by going straight to the blog URL..
Also the places where you are adding blog content to your store don't seem to be any place obvious.. Did you not add this code yet?? Lastly regarding this same code, if you are planning on adding it to one of the defined pages, you might wanna give a looksee into how you can incorporate it into the Admin Editable sideboxes module.. (Sideboxes which use a defined page to control the sidebox content -- VERY handy module)

Awww you are sweet..:blush: The trick is finding TIME for all these Zen Cart "experiments" I keep engaging myself in.. :laugh::laugh: This one I am determined to get a resolution for because I pass on the benefits to my clients when I come up with an answer.. They let me "try" out my "experiments" on their shops after I test 'em in my lab.. This way I can get feedback from a live shop, and they get a cool new toy in their stores..:smile: (Just recently hooked up a client with another of my lab experiments.. :laugh:)
I will DEFINITELY share my outcome with all when I'm done..

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
No, I had not implemented the front page solution in entirety yet. You can check it now at: http://www.OurCollegeTown.net .
Also, you are right that the blog is not omni-present, as it is not my intention for it to be. There are a number of value-added parts of our site, such as the news-blog and the history and trivia pages, but the focus is, and always will be, on the products and encouraging purchases. The blog creates a more engaging customer experience, but the goal isn't to make every visitor click on it.
Also, the blog itself has a separate address, http://www.MercerU.com and its own marketing campaign through http://www.facebook.com/MercerU and http://www.Twitter.com/MercerU to drive traffic to it, and thus, the store.
Any other observations you have will be greatly appreciated. I do all of this myself and can use all the help I can get.

If you search this thread you will find this link and all the other postings I've done regarding this solution.. (Including a
WOZ Recent Posts sidebox)

Hi DivaVocals,
I am getting ready to load WP and use WOZ sideboxes only. I just wanted to make sure I had all things in my mind clear before continuing. These may be dumb questions. Sorry. I just don't want to mess it up again!
Install WordPress (v2.7.x) - Does it have to be this version. I think my host has 2.9?
Install WordPress (v2.7.x) in it's OWN directory - table pre-fix When I install it asks where with my site: www.burnerbooks.com/????
Do I just add blog? or public_html?
Thank you, Kim

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
Not dumb questions, but they are answered in the readme file for this mod.. Your questions refer to my original post for doing this. There have been some modifications since that original post..
Please go back to the link I provided. Read the full post, and download the zip file. There is a readme file included which gives you step by step instructions on how to implement this.. It's pretty straight forward..
Let me know if that helps..

That's what made this so nice and clean. Right in define main:
<font size=4><b><a href="http://www.OurCollegeTown.net/blog">Latest Mercer News:</a></b></font><br><?php
// Include Wordpress
define('WP_USE_THEMES', false);
require('/home/website/public_html/blog/wp-load.php');
query_posts('showposts=3');
?>
<?php while (have_posts()): the_post(); ?>
<font size=3><a href="<?php the_permalink(); ?>"><?php the_title(); ?> - </font><font size=0> More</font></a><br>
<?php endwhile; ?>

I'm not clear how WHERE you did this, and that's what I am trying to get clarification on.. Are you are saying you added this code to the main page using the define pages editor???

Ok. I followed directions and installed to my directory. I can get to www.burnerbooks.com/blog and admin area. I installed WOZ sideboxes. I can see in zencart admin. When I turn them on I see on site. But, does not link to blog. I skipped step2 because I do want it to be embedded.
How do I get the website sidebox to link?

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
Look back over my previous posts. I was pretty detailed and gave explanations..... lol
It doesn't matter whether you use a simple text editer or the define page tool. Just put the language in the body of that file.

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
I understand that, and I did look at your posts.. lol
However, there are other ways to add content to the main page which is why I was trying to get specific details on what you did.. But thanks anyway for your help.. I'm sure that I'll get it all figured out anyway, and as always I'll share my results with the community.. lol

Simple.. The sideboxes don't work because you skipped step #2..

I don't get what you are asking.. Earlier you said you wanted a SEPARATE blog. Which is why I suggested installing my sidebox only variation of WOZ..

Yes, I did use the define main pages tool, and put it right at the top. But, I'm not sure that is the only way it could be done. It seems like this script could literally be put in any php file and it work out fine.

I take no credit for the code.. This is Hira's code with a few tweaks (as outlined below), and any files/code that are only needed for embedding stripped out.
I found that using this WOZ "sidebox only" method eliminates the compatibility issues with WOZ and a number of other plugins (particularly SEO mods, XML sitemap mods, and the Google Merchant mods). Using the WOZ sideboxes alone resolved these compatibility issues for me.
Hope there are others who will find this useful..
yes, it is actually great mod.
However, did all of you find the fatal error after installed this mod???
Once installed this mod on our site, please check your site at http://validator.w3.org/checklink, then you will find most of your links is retured 404 error.
any fix to the problem?:frusty:

I'm going to assume from your follow-up post that this is not an issue... correct??

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
Generally speaking, if the page is retured to 404 error, that means this page is blind to robot, and it will not be scrawed and indexed.
Maybe this is a great mod to who does not care about SEO.
DivaVocals, any suggestion to fix this problem:clap:

You wrote there:

3. Go to "includes/templates/template_default/sideboxes". Open all of the WOZ sidebox files and look for this line $content .= '<ul>'.$out.'</ul>';
Just above this line add this: $content .= '<div id="' . str_replace('_', '-', $box_id . 'Content') . '" class="sideBoxContent">';
This will format the WOZ sideboxes to look like your store's other sideboxes
One should add the closing div-tag too. So the replacement of
Code:
$content .= '<ul>'.$out.'</ul>';
should look like this:
Code:
$content .= '<div id="' . str_replace('_', '-', $box_id . 'Content') . '" class="sideBoxContent">';
$content .= '<ul>'.$out.'</ul>';
$content .= '</div>';
:wink:
I do have one fix to for the multi-site-installation. I guess, that the server could handel a "wrong" config in includes/extra_configures/wordpress-config.php like:
Code:
define('ABSPATH','/home/httpd/vhosts/domain1.com/httpdocs/theblog/');
But I do not like a site on domain2.com have paths with domain1.com in some config-file. So I resolved this this way:
Code:
// fix for zen-cart and wp in multidomain-installation
$domain = strtolower($_SERVER["HTTP_HOST"]); // get domain
if(substr($domain,0,4) == 'www.'){ // test if domain is with "www." or not
$domain=substr($domain,4); //get rid of "www."
}
// build the path
define('ABSPATH','/home/httpd/vhosts/'.$domain.'/httpdocs/theblog/'); // Please end of this in "/".
I still didn't test it with the other domains, but I guess it works too, as it does with "domain1.com".

Actually you don't need to add the closing div to this code.. (FYI.. It's not included in ANY of the WOZ sideboxes because it's not needed there either..)

Dont see why that statement should be true...
woz works with rss and should work with conor's mod below because specifics
can be set per page
