Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
So I've looked through this new version, and off the top of my head, I am not entirely comfortable with the mods required to Conor's module (Ceon SEO). Not sure why Conor's module needs to be modified when other blog embedding solutions require NO MODIFICATIONS to Ceon SEO to work properly with it.. I may forward this over to Conor to get his take on this..
Also I noticed that this module still has all of the commercial aspects still in place (meaning that Hira requires you to buy the module to remove his credit and advertising line). Will that also be true of the version that you submitted to the downloads section as well?? If so it seems to me that this module will be rejected as a commercial module and therefore NOT available in the FREE downloads section..
Lot more files in this version of WOZ as well.. Seems awfully bloated when again other blog options do not require nearly as much "stuff".

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
Is this new module WP built into zencart or is it the sidebox add on? I prefer the sidebox.
I have sidebox add on and can not get to work. I have new domain name for my WP site. It is www.kjvladiesbible.com. I have been trying to get to work, but every time I change includes/extra-conf/wordpress-config.php file I get supertracker error. With supertracker error the site does not come back. But if I go back in and change wordpress-config file - site works again. I listed error on supertracker module support, but no answer. Wondering if it is really supertracker or WP sidebox error?
Current file data is:
<?php
//
// wordpress on zencart by http://www.s-page.net/
//
define('ABSPATH','/home/xxxx/public_html/blog/');
$woz_install=0;
if (file_exists(ABSPATH.'wp-config.php')) {
$woz_install=1;
define('WP_USE_THEMES', true);
$wp_did_header = true;
require_once(ABSPATH.'wp-config.php');
$i=strlen(DIR_WS_CATALOG);
$req=substr($_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'],$i,1);
if($req=='?'){
$_GET['main_page']='wordpress';
}
//if(isset($_GET['feed'])){
//wp();
//gzip_compression();
//require_once('./wordpress/wp-includes/template-loader.php');
//require_once(ABSPATH . WPINC . '/template-loader.php');
//exit();
//}
}
?>I changed this line
define('ABSPATH','/home/xxxx/public_html/blog/');
to:
define('ABSPATH','/home/xxxx/public_html/kjvladiesbible/');
I am not good at coding, but this line looks like it should be changed to...but not sure to what?
$_GET['main_page']='wordpress';
Thanks, Kim

It's supposed to be an update to the previous versions.. The sideboxes only version was a release I put together based on Hira's 1.3 release..

WordPress' introduction of "The Loop" certainly made the process of "embedding" WordPress content much easier.. That said as I try and learn more about how "The Loop" works, it is clearer to me that much of the code in the original WOZ configure file is unnecessary and by and large the mostly likely root cause of conflicts between WOZ and other modules..
That said, dunno where you got the WOZ Sideboxes Only Edition you are using. (I haven't checked the zip file that used to be available here against the code you posted), but what you posted is certainly NOT the same as the configuration file that is in the version available in the free downloads section. Try downloading it again from here:
WordPress On ZenCart - Sideboxes Only Edition v1.0
You'll wanna grab the "Recent Posts" sidebox and the wordpress-configuration.php files from this version.. (which should be the ONLY thing different from this one and the one you are likely using now) This should resolve any conflicts you have with WOZ Sideboxes Only and other modules..

Hira, it's fairly simple.. Re-read the contribution rules for yourself.. You cannot support your module here if it's not available in the free downloads section, and you cannot support a commercial module here either..
Additionally, if your module is not available HERE in the free downloads and ONLY available on YOUR site, it is patently UNFAIR to other module authors that you be allowed to continue to support your module here on this forum. The authors of other free modules which are NOT available in the free downloads cannot support their FREE modules here. Authors of commercial modules cannot support those modules at all either..
Though there are those here who would give you a pass on this, I am not one of those people.. If you are given a pass then let's let Yellow, Numinix, Kuroi, qhome, Ceon and others be allowed to support ALL of their modules too.. (they aren't allowed to, nor would they blatantly do so)
Plus IMO, your module is not truly FREE anyway.. Yet for reasons which escape me, you are allowed for some reason to continue to support a module that is
- Not TRULY free (AKA no fee required to remove the footer/advertisement/copyright)
- NOT available in the ZEN CART free downloads section..
Now there are some here who think I'm being a PITA about this.. To those who are thinking that I say, "Tough!" (sorry.. it is what it is..) It's about fairness.. Fairness to other module authors who DO follow the rules of contribution submissions, and it's about fairness to the shop owners and site developers who download your contribution from THIS site..
Not every person who is unfortunate enough to download the non-working version of WOZ 1.4 will KNOW instinctively or otherwise to go to your site to download the working version, nor will they know to look for my post where I post the corrections that need to be applied to the version they downloaded here.. Hell we still have to re-direct folks to the post which has "Kiddo's Fix" for version 1.3 of WOZ.
Bottomline I do hope that you removed the objectionable code from your "free" version of WOZ so that the admins will approve it.. 'Tis all...

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
Hira,
Initial test of the new version shows that there is still a conflict with the Shipping Estimator. The word "Array" appears in the 'Special Instructions or Comments About Your Order' field on the checkout page. If I turn off the WOZ wp_sidebar.php, it does not appear. So, something about your sideboxes is still interacting with other mods.
Hira、新版の最初のテストは今でも船積みの見積者との対立があることを示す。 単語の" Array" 'で現われる; あなたのOrder'についての特別な指示かコメント; チェックアウトのページの分野。 私がWOZ wp_sidebar.phpを消せば、現われない。 従って、あなたのsideboxesについての何かはまだ他のmodsと相互に作用している。

I have a feeling that the conflict may be with Ceon Advanced Shipper. Can your fix for Ceon URI mapping also be made to work with Advanced Shipper?

Yes, I read.
However, it is a fact that there are a template and the module which there is the copyright/link .

It is possible that WOZ 1.5 will be fine with sites that do not use Advanced Shipper. For the one site I tested it on however, Advanced Shipper is essential to the site for its drop shipping capability. I will try WOZ 1.5 on a site without Advanced Shipper at some point. Thanks

This thread has been brought to my attention and although I haven't used WOZ before I'll try it out, identify and fix any issues.. I don't want people to have to modify core files to get any of our software to work with other modules!
I'll post back here as soon as I can with whatever I find out and the necessary information about how to avoid/fix any problems so that text files with instructions on how to modify this or that line aren't being bandied about, that's not a good situation for anyone!
This goes for the Ceon URI Mapping module as well of course.. there should never be any need to modify its files to get it to work with another module, so I'll identify and fix any issues there as well.
All the best..

Hi Conor!
The developer of WOZ has some difficulty with english, so some of us are trying to save effort and time with translations.
Japanese is a beautiful language visually. I'm even getting to understand how it moves the thought in english around. A little bit anyway.
Glad to see you aboard!

As I posted earlier, my first glance at Hira's latest release brought the SAME concerns to mind.. I may not know how to write code, but after years of working with software developers and DBAs, I do know an incorrect approach to development when I see it.. Modifying your modules to make WOZ compatible with them seems to me the WRONG development approach.
WOZ does not play nice with a number of modules. What about other SEO software like SSU.. Will there be an SSU hack to make it work with WOZ?? The current development path taken by Hira would indicate that this would also be the approach..
It seems to me that the 1st approach to correcting this would be to correct the WOZ module, and as much as possible avoid creating hacks for everything else around it.

When I said "find out the necessary information about how to avoid/fix any problems" I wasn't limiting that statement to any particular piece of software. If URI Mapping or any of other modules need modifying, I'll modify them, however I think it's more likely that the work I'll be doing is in modifying the WOZ module. As I said, I don't think the URI Mapping module should break any module, it's been written to work as transparently as possible within the Zen Cart framework. Its addition to a site should have no effect whatsoever on any module that can handle static URIs. Once I've researched what WOZ is doing I'll see what needs to be done! :)

and honestly I don't think it's your module or any other module that needs fixing.. This is why I was uncomfortable form the onset with the notion of "modifying" your module.. WOZ has compatibility issues with a NUMBER of modules and even core Zen Cart functionality.. Even a blind man can see that this is probably a sign that something is SERIOUSLY wrong with WOZ. (not every other module that doesn't play nice with it..)
IMHO, I think the issue ALL ALONG has been the WOZ module and how it's written.. I think this, plus an absentee developer has been THE issue for the last few years..

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
Hi hira,
Got a question or two here for anyone using WOZ and Ceon URI Mapping...
Are you manually adding a URI Mapping for the wordpress main_page to the uri mapping table?
Why are you adding that?
Does wordpress not have its own static URIs on the site?
If so, you could just add exclusions for these URIs to the rewrite rule.
Code:
# Don't rewrite wordpress URIs
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !/^comments.* [NC]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !/^feed.* [NC]
Or are you tring to set a static URI for a page such as index.php?main_page=wordpress&feed=rss2
?
Please let me know what it is that you are doing!
Thanks,
Conor

There was surely compatibility issues in a version of before than v1.5.
Because I grasp the cause and revised it, in this version, it should be settled.

No.
I operate the following from a management screen.
Access Zen Cart Admin > tools > WOZ Manager and Click [Ceon URI Mapping Setting].
I write this in the readme file.
It may be the version that is old if not written.
A download section does not yet have the most recent version (v1.5).

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
Conor,
When using your module with the Numinix blogging solution, I simply excluded the blog directory from my .htaccess file altogether since WordPress does indeed generate it's own URI's (permalinks or prety permalinks).
However when using the WOZ Sideboxes Only I discovered that this exclusion alone did not work.. There are several lines in the wordpress_configure file which interfered with Ceon URI Mapping. So I simply removed those lines, and excluded the blog directory in my .htaccess file. Once I did that then everything worked fine..
I don't think anyone has tried manually setting up a URI in the database for index.php?main_page=wordpress. I get why this would NOT be a good idea.. I think most folks installed WOZ and your module and discovered the two don't play well together..

Perhaps, but I just don't agree with your method of execution.. I think it is inherently problematic to hack other modules to make them work with yours.. IMO, it should be the OTHER way around.. Your module needs to be made to work without patches and hacks to other modules..
What about Simple SEO?? Is there a WOZ hack for this module too?? (because there are compatibility issues with SSU and WOZ) and apparently there are other modules as well that are still not working properly with WOZ..
My point is that there are other blog embedding solutions which DO NOT require hacks to SEO modules as they do not have compatibility issues..

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
Just in case, I though I should mention that WOZ 1.5 is only available for download from the website in Hira's signature. It is not presently available from the Zen Cart Free Downloads section.

Thanks,

At first I show URL of the feed of the demonstration site.
http://demo.s-page.net/woz/en/blog/feed/
http://demo.s-page.net/woz/en/blog/comments/feed/
http://demo.s-page.net/woz/en/blog/2...lo-world/feed/
I do not add a rewrite rule.

I've never used any version of WOZ.
I'm in the middle of some other work today and tomorrow so I won't get a chance to install it until Sunday, hopefully I do get the time then.
I was hoping to get more feedback about how you are actually using WOZ and how it is breaking your sites? No-one has replied about that yet! When you install WOZ what isn't actually working? Please give a detailed description of the process - what you are expecting to happen and what is actually happening that you don't want to happen.
Thanks!
Obviously when I install the software myself I can then root out the cause of the issues you describe.
All the best..

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
I can give you all backend access to a mirror setup of Zen 1.3.8, WOZ 1.5, Wordpress, Advanced Shipper and URI mapping on the site I licensed AS for. Let me know.
I am seeing WOZ blank out, insert and replace text in the fields of your Advanced Shipper methods, specifically the surcharge and USPS and UPS methods. Also, inserting the term "Array" into Zen's customer comments field, and preventing the shipping estimator from working at all.
Thanks!

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
Conor,
I dunno if you have any of the old e-mail exchange you and I had around Oct of last year, but if you recall the issues I had were DIRECTLY related to the WOZ app. Here's the forum posts just prior to our brief e-mail exchange where you verified that the issue was indeed caused by WOZ.
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showpo...&postcount=609
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showpo...&postcount=610
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showpo...&postcount=613
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showpo...&postcount=616
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showpo...&postcount=618
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showpo...&postcount=619
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showpo...&postcount=620
After looking at my setup, you determined that the issue was being caused by the WOZ configuration file specifically this code:
Quote:
$i=strlen(DIR_WS_CATALOG);
$req=substr($_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'],$i,1);
if($req=='?'){
$_GET['main_page']='wordpress';
}
if(isset($_GET['feed'])){
wp();
gzip_compression();
// require_once('./wordpress/wp-includes/template-loader.php');
require_once(ABSPATH . WPINC . '/template-loader.php');
exit();
}
Once I removed this block of code, the errors I was experiencing stopped.
Now it should be noted that in this particular implementation I am using and early version of:WordPress On ZenCart - Sideboxes Only Edition v1.0. I could not use the full version of WOZ on this site because of the weird issue WOZ had where new posts were throwing an error when the sideboxes were positioned on the left side of the site.
The other issue that went away when I removed this code block was the feed errors I had gotten when using the Google Base Feed module..

Here's the post in regards to the Google Base Feed module:
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showpo...&postcount=958
Also here's a_berezin's reponse with regards to WOZ conflicts with the RSS feed module. (Again please note that the issue leads back to SAME problematic area of the WOZ code)
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showpo...&postcount=957
On another note, I've been looking at Hira's new 1.5 code.. Am I seeing this incorrectly or is it adding the ability to auto-generate a WordPress URI in the Ceon URI table?
Code:
$woz_uri_query = "<br />
SELECT<br />
um.language_id,<br />
um.uri<br />
FROM<br />
" . TABLE_CEON_URI_MAPPINGS . " um<br />
WHERE<br />
um.main_page = \'" . FILENAME_WORDPRESS . "\'<br />
ORDER BY<br />
BIT_LENGTH(um.uri) DESC;";<br />
$woz_uri_result = $db->Execute($woz_uri_query);<br />
Code:
define('TEXT_URI_MAPPING_WOZ_URI_AUTOGEN', 'Tick this box to have the URI auto-generated for WOZ.');
define('TEXT_URI_MAPPING_WOZ_URIS_AUTOGEN', 'Tick this box to have the URIs auto-generated for WOZ.');
Not for nothing, but the Numinix blog solution doesn't require any such hack to work with the Ceon URI module (all that's needed is a simple .htaccess exclusion), and since WordPress generates it's own URI's, this is a done deal..

If the code you are referring to is contained in the wordpress-config.php file, I believe that file is now gone in version 1.5 of WOZ

That's because it was offloaded in some shape or form into other places in the new code.. So NOTHING has changed. The only thing that appears different on the surface is the direct hack of the Ceon URI app.. (which IMO is NOT the right solution to the reported issues of compatibility) If Conor is looking at "the problem", then he needs to know the WHOLE story.. Especially if he is trying to understand WHY Hira's code now includes specific hacks for the Ceon URI module.. So my answer is very necessary to help FULLY analyze the problem.
and the question STILL has not been fully answered with regard to compatibility with SSU.. Is there still a compatibility issue, and how has it been addressed. What about Google Base?? Is the compatibility issue with it fully resolved??
Again I have seen other methods of integrating WordPress content that don't have nearly as many issues or hacks to work.. I'm not convinced that ver 1.5 or WOZ is close to being there yet..

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
I didn't realize that, thanks.
I wish i could give Conor specific errors generated by the clash of WOZ and URI mapping plugins, but I've only seen errors in the items I mentioned earlier, and I'm mostly concerned with the Advanced Shipper clash. I do think he is looking for specific examples of errors from the mods interacting.

And that is what I provided.. My issue was very much a specific example of an error from a conflict between Ceon URI and WOZ. Now perhaps this is a MINOR error, but add up ALL the "minor" issues with this mod, and it's just not what I want to use on a client site.. I am looking to get as close to 100% error free as I can get especially when it involves a clients website.. I will ONLY settle for "close enough" when all other options have been exhausted.. The full version of WOZ IMHO has NEVER been even in the "close enough" category..

Do you mention the editing of this file?
/includes/init_includes/init_ceon_uri_mapping.php
When they did a permanent link of WordPress besides a default, the following file editing has been necessary.
I did so this to avoid core file editing of WordPress .
If there is it as a default, the editing is unnecessary.:smile:
I do not try SSU and Google Base.
Was an error given?
Please feed back if there is the one that tested in v1.5.

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
Hi, Hira.
I install it yesterday, but got some problem. I am a new one, could you give me some idea?
My problem is:
1: when i test it, useing the follewing url address:
http://www.outdoorgc.com/index.php?main_page=wordpress
it will jump to:
http://www.outdoorgc.com/?main_page=wordpress
2: at the testing url address, there is nothing on the blog page.
http://www.outdoorgc.com/index.php?main_page=wordpress
3. it seems the side box works. When you click the page "sleeping bags", it bring you to the blog (http://www.outdoorgc.com/wordpress/?page_id=3). But it is not a blog on Zen-Cart, it is a absolute blog.
I installed it according to the "readme.txt", what's the problem? Could you help me? :smile:

I understand WHY you did it.. I am saying (again) that I don't agree with the development approach you've taken to resolve the Ceon URI conflict.. I say this based on my examination of other Zen Cart blog solutions which require almost NO edits to WordPress and only a few simple Zen Cart edits. IMO this would be preferable than rather than editing specific modules (such as the suggested edits to the Ceon URI module) if possible (and clearly it IS possible). Seems to me the goal should be getting this module to work across the board, not just forcing other modules to work with it..

Let me ask you a question.
Will the permanent link of wordpress(in wp-admin) become it besides a default?
In the case of a default, the category becomes the following URL.
http://www.example.com/blog/?cat=1
Besides a default, it becomes the following URL.
http://www.example.com/blog/category/uncategorized/

I also didn't have to make ONE change to Wordpress to make sure that the Ceon URI module does not re-write the blog URLs. In fact I can still use the WordPress permalinks with NO interference from the Ceon URI module.
The ONLY change required to insure that the Ceon URI module did NOT re-write any of the blog links was a few additional lines in my .htaccess file.
Please feel free to look at my test site here:

I installed the Ceon URI module just now, and it took me about 20 minutes to do the install and setup my URIs.. There are not issues/errors working with the Ceon URI module either..
Here's the .htaccess I used
Code:
RewriteEngine On
# ONLY rewrite URIs beginning with /testsite/
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/testsite/.* [NC]
# Don't rewrite any URIs ending with a file extension (ending with .[xxxx])
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !\.[a-zA-Z]{2,4}$

# Do rewrite blog directory
RewriteRule ^blog(.*)$ /testsite/index.php?main_page=blog&$1 [E=VAR1:$1,QSA,L]
Like I said Hira, I understand WHY you coded ver 1.5 of WOZ the way you did, but respectfully, I believe your development approach is wrong.. As you can see from my test site, there are other blog solutions that DO NOT require hacking of other modules to work well with them.. IMHO, your development approach for WOZ will cause more problems than it solves.. Your solution also only solves compatibility issues with ONE module (and I maintain that I DO NOT agree with your solution to the Ceon URI compatibility issue). There are other modules that seem to still have compatibility issues with WOZ, and I don't see anything in your code that addresses THOSE incompatibility issues.. IMHO, WOZ is STILL not fully ready for use on a production site for those reasons. Happy to be proven wrong about this, but so far I am not seeing any signs that I am wrong..

Thank you for a report.
I asked you a question the other day because I seemed to use the URL of the default when I tried your demonstration site.
eg: http://www.example.com/blog/?cat=1
I thought whether I do not cope besides the default, but do not seem to have any problem.
I refer to it and want to test it.

Thanks, Hira! I'm rebuilding all of my development on a new laptop, but I hope to be able to try this out soon. Sounds like a great improvement over the old 1.2 versions I was last working with. I was always getting your code from your site directly, so I wouldn't be impacted by the issues with whether it can be downloaded from this site; however, I would be impacted if you and the rest of our user community would be prevented from discussing our problems and sharing our solutions with each other here.
If you are unable to continue support here, I hope that you will improve the support at your site.
Thanks again for your contribution! Karen

If you tried that demo site prior to March 21 2010 @ 12:50 AM (PST), then you are right. That site was indeed was using the default WordPress permalinks. What I did to that test site before posting my response to you was the following:
- Install the Ceon URI module and create all the product and category URIs
- Change the WordPress permalink settings to the "Month and name" settings.
- Upload the recommended .htaccess file to the WordPress directory
That's it.. The blog is embedded and NO HACKING of ANY Ceon URI files was required!!! Not only do my Zen Cart URI's work, but so do my WordPress permalinks.. If I were to install ANY of the other modules which do not play nice with WOZ (Google Base, XML Sitemaps, SSU, etc), I am confident that they too would work with the blog embedding setup on this test site..
So clearly it IS possible to achieve this. Which is why I do not understand nor agree with how you've ALWAYS chosen to develop WOZ. (especially the development direction you've chosen for version 1.5 -- which I maintain is a BAD idea and creates more issues than it solves..) In fact I'll even state that IF I WAS FORCED to use WOZ for blog embedding, that I would use your original ver 1.3 before I EVER used the follow-up versions. Other methods for embedding blog content are much cleaner than WOZ IMHO..

I understood it well.
This one is surely simple.
In addition, the compatibility with the other SEO modules looks good, too.
It is because it limits a SEO module in .htaccess.
I have anxiety a little.
May I ask you a question one more?
Feed becomes the blank when I access the following URL.
.../testsite/blog/feed/
.../testsite/blog/comments/feed/
Will this be intentional?

This is uniquely an issue with regards to permalinks. Permalinks work just fine, but I have never had good success getting permalinks to work. I am not fully sure what the issues have been.. (I'm fairly certain that it is not a bug of any sorts, but merely something that I am doing wrong when setting them up.. I'll admit that I never really had time to test to fully understand HOW to get WordPress permalinks to work correctly.. When my time permits, I'll REALLY spend some time testing and researching permalinks to fully understand how to get them to work..
You'll see that the default feed URL works fine
../testsite/blog/?feed=rss2
I just turned off permalinks on this test site until I can set them up to work correctly across the board.. That said, I think you will agreee that this is still a CLEANER solution than WOZ, and it is how WOZ should be working.. (Hence why I will continue to be of the opinion that your development approach for WOZ is not the right one..)

The Loop" works, it is clearer to me that much of the code in the original WOZ configure file is unnecessary and by and large the mostly likely root cause of conflicts between WOZ and other modules..
That said, dunno where you got the
WOZ Sideboxes Only Edition you are using.
(which should be the ONLY thing different from this one and the one you are likely using now) This should resolve any conflicts you have with
WOZ Sideboxes Only and other modules..
I re-loaded the new WOZ sidebox. I also followed directions to figure out ABSPATH. It shows sideboxes for WP_catcat and wp_sidebar.php when I turn on in Zen-cart, but no links to WP site.
Any suggestions?

I'm fairly certain your ABSPATH is incorrect.. There is no blog for your site located at http://www.burnerbooks.com/blog.
There is not much to this mod that is required for it to work except that you point the configure file to correct location to your WordPress blog and activate the sideboxes you want to use..
Quote:
In your ZenCart configure.php (includes/configure.php) around line 40 is the direct path to your store. Since you are putting WordPress in it's own directory, as in "blog", all you would have to do in your wordpress-config.php file is add the path to ZC and then add "blog/" at the end.
If your WordPress blog is NOT in a directory called blog (which was only an example I cited in the readme file since I cannot know what people are naming their WordPress directories), then simply change your ABSPATH setting to reflect the directory that your WordPress blog is physically located. (http://www.yoursite.com/wordpress or http://www.yoursite.com/myblog, etc) So the ABSPATH should be as follows:
Direct path to your store + WordPress directory
HTH..:smile:

are you guys talking about a different mod? Perhaps you should start another support thread for that mod to keep this one focused on Hira's WOZ to avoid confusion about what people are talking about... In fact, I thought that was one of the requirements for having a mod accepted in the downloads section? If we're going by the roolz and all that jazz....:P:laugh:

It's the WordPress On Zen Sideboxes Only Edition which is a scaled down version of Hira's original WOZ module.. Since kburner asked her question HERE, I answered it HERE.. :P:laugh:
and for the record, my talk about ROOLZ and all that jazz are very much legit since it is seemed to be totally overlooked that Hira's mod WAS NOT available in the downloads section. Yellow, Numinix, and others don't try and support modules only available on their websites here on this forum.. I simply didn't think it was fair for Hira to get a pass on this.. If that makes me a PITA, then so be it.. However, it seems that Hira didn't take my comments in anything other than the spirit in which they were delivered.. Which is why it seems he submitted his module to the Zen Cart downloads section..

Hi DivaVocals,
Thank you for responding. My blog is located at www.kjvladiesbible.com and does not have any extensions to my zencart site www.burnerbooks.com. I contacted Bluehost and they confirmed correct path and even told me to try it without folder name. My folder name in path is same as site with kjvladiesbible.
When I tried to add the site www.kjvladiesbible.com to my path it did not work, but - I did not add the http:...I will try it again tonight with http://. Thanks. Kim

Thought it was all the same with WOZ whether it was embedded or sidebox only. Did not mean to cause any confusion. I am strictly referring to sideboxes. Kim

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
Hira includes a file named check_path.php in his WOZ 1.5 distribution which will display your ABSPATH info when it is uploaded to he blog folder and then navigated to, as in http://www.zen-cart.com/myblogfolder/check_path.php

Kim,
This explains the issue.. Please look at the readme again.. Specifically the link I referenced in the section which explains what the ABSPATH is.
ABSPATH is not the URL of your blog (ie http://www.yoursite.com) but the relative path to your blog.
Absolute path example:
/home/users/c/computerhope/public_html/cgi-bin
The problem here is that your blog is NOT the same domain as the main site. WOZ Sideboxes Only like the full flavor of WOZ assumes that you have installed your blog in the same base relative path as your store.
However, your blog has a different domain altogether (and I presume different hosting space than your store) and therefore a base relative path that is not the same base as your main website.
For example your setup I believe looks like this:
- Store: /home/users/s/store/public_html/
- Blog: /home/users/b/blog/public_html/
When WOZ Sideboxes Only requires something like this:
- Store: /home/users/s/store/public_html/
- Blog: /home/users/s/store/public_html/blog/
I do not know if you would be able to use ANY of the blog embedding solutions to link your blog with your store based on this setup.. (with the exception of one of the RSS feed solutions perhaps..)

Thanks DivaVocals for your help. I had a feeling the different domain name was the problem even though it is still in same directory as zencart store. :(

Okay.. Now I am confused.. In order for me to FULLY answer your questions, you are going to have to provide some more complete information..
So post the following:
Your blog ABSPATH
Your store ABSPATH
Based on your post, is your domain pointed to a subfolder of your store??????? Does your blog HAVE to have it's own domain???

Store:
define ('ABSPATH','/home/xxxx/public_html/');
my zencart files are located after public_html...like admin, includes, images,etc.
Blog:
define ('ABSPATH','/home/xxxx/public_html/kjvladiesbible/');
kjvladiesbible folder (WordPress site) is also located in same area as other folders
I had problems with e-commerce with WordPress to get working and ended up with new domain name. I have different products listed than burnerbooks store.

Not sure I understand the significance of this statement.. Are you saying that this issue is the reason why the blog has it's own domain??

No. I started out with www.burnerbooks.com/blog. As I loaded e-commerce for Word Press I received lots of errors. I went back and forth between WP forum and host..and finally host said it would be better to just have different domain name. Could not get it to work. As soon as I switched to new domain name and reloaded...WP site works with e-commerce.
Zencart site was fine. After I got WP site working, I have been trying to get zencart sidebox to work. Kim

To my knowledge, you can't link your blog to Zen Cart if the blog directory is redirected to a domain name.
Though we would need to take any talk of WordPress specific issues to the WordPress Forums, I'll say this very quick.. I'm pretty sure that your host is wrong about WordPress needing it's own domain to support the WP e-commerce plugin.. I've created development sites for clients using both WP e-Commerce & eShop for Wordpress. ALL of my dev sites are using a sub folder of my main site. So clearly something else was going on if you were unable to get e-commerce to work..

Is it that an error happened in WOZ v1.5?
Please try it by all means if you do not try it.

In v1.5, please be careful to there not being includes/extra_configures/wordpress-config.php.
Please delete it if there is it on a server.
When there is it, an error may occur.

Hi Hira,
She's using the Sideboxes Only version as she wanted to keep her blog separate (not embedded).. Her issue is related to the fact that her blog is on a different domain than her site..

While the feed links may not work correctly on my other test site using the Numinix blog embedding (ONLY while permalinks are active), I just tested and permalinks don't seem to work at all with WOZ.. (They also work funny when using the Sideboxes Only version too..)

I succeeded in working of feed!:clap:
I insert the following code just after wp();.
WOZ v1.5 over: includes/init_includes/init_woz.php
Other : includes/extra_configures/wordpress-config.php
Code:
if ($_GET['main_page'] == FILENAME_WORDPRESS && is_feed()) {
gzip_compression();
require_once(ABSPATH . WPINC . '/template-loader.php');
exit();
}
Please try it.
And I am glad when you feed back.
-- Postscript --
When it is an old version, FILENAME_WORDPRESS may not be defined.
In that case, please add the following.
Code:
define('FILENAME_WORDPRESS', 'wordpress');

Because the trackback did not work like feed normally, I changed it on the following code.
Code:
if ($_GET['main_page'] == FILENAME_WORDPRESS && ( is_feed() || is_trackback() )) {
gzip_compression();
require_once(ABSPATH . WPINC . '/template-loader.php');
exit();

Sounds good, but do permalinks work?? Friendly feed URLs are one thing (though not terribly important IMO) but permalinks working with WOZ would be a really nice thing..

Thanks Hira for bringing the blog feed URLs on my testsite to my attention.. I turned back on permalinks this morning on my testsite.. after researching and testing this I have come to the conclusion that search engine friendly URLs for blog feeds is not a MUST HAVE or even a NEED to have..
Even with permalinks on and configured correctly the default feed URLs work PERFECTLY!! IMO this and the permalinks working correctly is more than acceptable.
I add rules to my robots.txt file to disallow search-engine crawlers from indexing the blog feed anyway (since I want to avoid POSSIBILITY of duplicate content). I will be using an XML sitemap so there isn't any need for web crawlers to index the RSS feeds too. And yes I do understand that the search engine robots can recognize an xml feed page and treat it separately. However, I still prefer to err on the side of caution and tell the robots not to crawl my blog feeds.
Therefore, since I will be excluding the blog feeds from search engine robots, search engine friendly RSS feed URLs are not a MUST HAVE at all.. So when I display RSS links to my blog feed, the link behind the little RSS chicklet will be pointing to the default blog RSS feed URL (which is JUST fine), and the problem is solved..
