Tabbed Products Pro (TPP) Contrib - Official Thread

Thanks Delia! I have been waiting for such a reply for months.

The website you point to seems to have very similar problems to what I experience after adding TPP. When I try to use GCC on the simonbbc site, it takes me in circles and I can't actually checkout.

I understand that there shouldn't be a conflict between the two, yet whenever I add TPP (and no other changes) to a website where GCC has been working fine, GCC stops working. I understand the challenges of GCC, but I have successfully gotten it working on four different websites - only to have it stop working on the two where I installed TPP.

Can you point me to your website where it is working?

It is NOT LOGICAL to assume that two modules which do not affect the same functionality and/or pages are in conflict with one another. The fact that YOU have an issue is not proof of a conflict either.. NOTHING in the code for these modules WOULD be in conflict AT ALL!!! Google Checkout has no files in common with Tabbed Products Pro, and therefore one would not affect the other..

From your initial post you ALSO indicated that you were updating your store from v1.3.7 to 1.3.9 ALONG with installing these two modules.. There are a NUMBER of issues that could have come out of this major kind of change, and since TPP doesn't do anything but change the look and feel of the PRODUCT PAGES there's NO WAY it would affect the checkout pages as you have reported...

The fact is that these two modules absolutely CANNOT be in conflict with one another.. I can appreciate your frustration, but you really are barking up the wrong tree..

And to add to this, dkerfoot's issues with an UNRELATED module IS NOT caused by Tabbed Products Pro and as such this is NOT a TPP support related question..

The issue here is with Google Checkout plain and simple.. and any questions related to Google Checkout need to be posted on the support thread for the Google Checkout module.

While I mentioned that I had recently upgraded to 1.3.9 in the first post - trying to answer the long list of questions we are prompted to answer for clarity dontcha know - it was actually working fine for two days after the upgrade - GCO and all, before I installed TPP. Then GCO stopped working the moment TPP was installed.

Then, a few weeks later, on a fully upgraded and perfectly working separate install, installing TPP again broke GCO.

While your logic clearly seems impeccable in your own mind, it is unfortunate that you are continuing to ignore empirical evidence - i.e.: every time I install the mod it breaks GCO.

You seem unable to conceive of the idea that GCO was working up to and until TPP was installed. Do you get that? GCO was working. Then TPP broke it. TPP broke GCO. GCO was working, then TPP broke it. Got it?

I understood your issue as you reported it.. and unfortunately for you there is no answer forthcoming from this module's support thread as the two modules are unrelated..

Your "empirical evidence" ignores the fact that none of the code in Google Checkout is related/common to the TPP code.. I have seen nothing in the TPP code which MIGHT cause the issues you describe with ANY payment or checkout module. I know you are frustrated, and I am sorry you do not have a resolution to your issue. However, I'm afraid it appears that no one can give you an answer at this time.. My suggestion is to go to the Google Check support thread and see if the experts for that module can help you work through the issues..

In the entire history of this module (going all the way back to it's roots as Tabbed Products Pro Lite) no one has ever reported a similar issue at all.. (Which is likely why you didn't get any kind of response in this thread until now..)

And to be thorough, I took the liberty of searching through the Google Checkout support thread as well and again saw no other reports of this or a similar issue..

I did see in the Google Checkout threads LOTS of posts with regards to getting Google Checkout to play nice in general. As Delia has said it (Google Checkout) has been historically one of "the most challenging installation of all of them and is very hard to get working properly"

I hope you get it all worked out. However, despite your belief, Tabbed Products Pro could not cause the issues you are describing as it does not affect or modify any of the files where the issue is occurring..

AREN'T is not the same as CAN'T.. I can't help and I suspect neither can anyone else since this is the support thread for TPP and your issue is with GCO.. (Which again is likely why you haven't gotten a response on your Google Checkout issue -- with the exception of Delia's response)..

Despite your feelings on the matter, these two modules are not related and do not share files or code in common.. Seems unreasonable to expect a solution from a volunteer community for what looks to be an isolated issue (where the likely issue/solution lies in resolving the Google Checkout setup issues since it is Google Checkout that is in fact NOT working)..

Since we appear to be building up to a round of fisticuffs on this question of TPP and GC, I've rolled up my sleeves to see if there's anything in the code that might cause these two mods to not play nicely together.

Caveat. Never used either of them, and having undertaken a close analysis of the code of both - never likely too!

However, having done that analysis, I too can see no way for these two mods to interact or get in each others way. They share no files in common, and operate on different parts of the store.

The closest they come is in TPP's amendment of the javascript and css loading int eh htm_header file. This would also affect any javascript or css being loaded from external files for GC. Except there isn't any.

That they can work together has been confirmed by Delia, and the GC problems reported by dkerfoot are in the checkout which is not touched by TPP.

I kind off understand the belief that if two things happen at the same time they must be related, but I've seen so many examples where that belief clouded clients (and developers) ability to find the real cause of a problem not to rely on it unless it's accompanied by hard evidence of causality, which isn't the case here.

So I suggest that people with GC problems take them to the GC thread (where the only person admitting to getting them both working hangs out anyway), allowing TPP discussion to continue as normal here.

You have firmly established that you are irrevocably convinced there is no relationship between the two. That would be enough to convince me, IF I hadn't observed it happen. Twice.

Please. I don't need you to try to explain it a different way. I understand that you are convinced. OK? At this point I have no desire to change your mind. I am perfectly OK leaving you to believe whatever you want.

Instead of adding another 10,000 words to obfuscate the discussion further, please just let my simple request stand: Delia, if you could please point to the site where you have both of them working together, I would be very grateful.

That wasn't a reflection on the quality of the code. It was motivated by concern that it has been extended into areas that feel more the province of core code than a add-on to enhance the product info page.

So all that minification feels like it ought to be a mod in its own right rather than an addendum to the TPP. And the associated html_header changes have the potential to clash with other plugins, several of the free templates and most commercial ones.

On a functional level, I don't like the way that by default the add-to-cart button seems to be hidden inside an inactive tab ... goes against all that we know about e-commerce conversion - but I'm sure that can be changed.

Those are the reasons why I, personally, would hesitate to use it. But equally there will be circumstances and people for whom it's a good approach.

Hmm, well getting nasty sure doesn't help anything. The only thing that proves is that something went wrong with your installation - not that the two can't work together.

What you observed on simonbbc.com is also a scrabbled together googlecheckout that was put in long before the tabbed products was. He has a special situation with his shipping quotes which required changes. Installing tabbed products did not change the google checkout.

The google checkout button in the cart pops up the estimator and then you have to click on the button in the estimator to get to googlecheckout. Convoluted and not what anyone wants but there again - this is a google checkout question -
not a tabbed products question. I know you won't get answers in the googlecheckout thread but this is not the place for your questions.

Somewhere in this thread is a post by me on how to remove the "double" review buttons. The original author for some reason didn't think this was an "issue".. I thought it just looks DUMB to have two review buttons.. If you don't find my post, I'll see if I can dig it up..

Nods in agreement.. I never understood how the addition of the minification functionality enhanced TPP either..

The introduction of this "feature" in v1.06 always felt to me like this was not as much of an enhancement of TPP as it was simply just adding in something that SHOULD HAVE been a separate add-on submission in it's own right..

It was at the point that this change was made (the introduction of the minification add-on to TPP) that the original author stopped supporting this module.. TPP has been community supported ever since.

I personally still use version 1.05 because it still works, and if I WANT/NEED js/css minification I can install the CJ Loader SEPARATELY.

While I too found the "Global Add To Cart Tab" option :lookaroun ummmm silly, it is not turned on by default. Rather it is one of the tab options this mod offers.. As you can see on the following page, the add to cart button is not inside a tab..

Nah, I left it - since he wanted the tell a friend button left on, I just put the two buttons side by side down there. Not as distracting as the additional images. Just info to keep in my head as to what to do if and when I run into this again. Geez, zen cart respository in my head!

Just took a looksee at how I got rid of the extra "Write Reviews" button, and I realized that the way I did it works until you disable the "Reviews" tab.. Then the behavior of the product page changes, and the button needs to be in place.. I added a flag so that the button is only hidden when the "Reviews" tab is active. I am at work and don't have the change I made with me, but I'll post it up for the community later today in case anyone else wants to make the same change..

Had another thought.. This is just my own personal observation.. It seems like the issues posted in this support thread since the CJ Loader was bundled in with TPP seem to be related to issues with the CJ Loader install/configuration..

I (and others posting here) have, on more than a few occasions, suggested to those having issues that they use v1.05 instead. A majority of the time installing v1.05 resolves these install/config issues. I personally still use v1.05 (updated for Zen Cart v1.3.9 of course)

So I've been giving some thought to updating the v1.05 fileset with updates needed for Zen Cart v1.3.9 and submitting it separately as an alternate TPP version..

OR

perhaps including BOTH flavors of TPP in the fileset. Dunno..:huh: Giving this some thought..

This module only changes the look and feel of the product pages.. I believe I've seen another module that does what you are looking for.. You can search the downloads page and see if you can locate it (the name of the module --if it does indeed exist-- escapes me..)

Thank you! I will keep searching until I find it. If not no big deal. I really like this for the product pages.

I am having some problems. It works awesome on my test site, but it screws up my whole site on my live one. I installed it just like I did on my test site and it wasn't working correctly. I went through all the files and tried to unistall it. When I tried to reinstall it, my site became blank. So I unistalled all the files again.

I don't know what's going on. It also doesn't look completely unistalled because in my admin I still see the TPP Config and the CSS/JS Loader.

Is there a way to unistall those too and do a complete fresh install?

Okay I tried to read every page in here for my next questions but I got 36 pages in and I am getting a headache lol.

First question: I have Cross Sell Mod installed and I have the global tabs turned on in the admin but the Cross Sell isn't in a tab where it's supposed to be. It is still at the bottom. You can see it here. http://frompropertorocker.com/index....products_id=45

Next question is: If you take a look using Chrome you will notice some of the products appears twice on the product page. You can see that here. http://frompropertorocker.com/index....oducts_id=1053 How do I fix that?

And my final question (hopefully)

In IE the product description is showing on each tab (only on some.) You can see that here. http://frompropertorocker.com/index....oducts_id=2320 How do I fix this?

I cannot reproduce any of the issues you've reported.. which leads me to believe that somewhere in your store you've made other modifications to the product description (details) page or made other modifications to the default TPP files which are causing the issues.. I suggest carefully re-tracing your installation and comparing your store files to the one's in the TPP fileset..

OR

uninstall v1.07 altogether and install TPP v1.05.. Unless you NEED the CJ Loader add-on which is included in the v.107 files (the addition of the CJ Loader add-on was introduced in TPP v1.06) v1.05 works just fine.. You will need to incorporate any Zen Cart v1.3.9 changes to the product detail page of course.. Thanks! That is really strange. I will take a look. If I unistall it completely I will still have the CJ Loader, and the TPP Config showing in my admin area how do I get that so it's completely unistalled?

If I remember, the CJ Loader has an uninstall script to remove the DB entries, you can try this to uninstall TPP DB entries:

After that you will need to remove the TPP and CJ Loader files manually..

The EASIEST way though is if you backed up your store and DB before you installed TPP (as you should do before installing ANY modules) is to roll back to your store backup.

The EASIEST way though is if you backed up your store and DB before you installed TPP (as you should do before installing ANY modules) is to roll back to your store backup.

Thank you! I got them completely unistalled. Now I will try to reinstall it with v.1.05

I just did a fresh install and turned on the global tabs for the cross sell and the cross sell module is still at the bottom and not in the tabs. Everything else looks ok so far.

I turned off the global products description tabs to see how that looks and it looks ok except in chrome it shows the description up top (where it should be) and then at the end of each tab page. You can see it here http://frompropertorocker.com/index....oducts_id=1053

I didn't make any changes to any of the files yet. Just in the admin.

I believe that one of your non-TPP edits is causing this. As you can see on my test shop I do not get this same behavior in Chrome..

Again.. this is likely more a result of some other modifications you've made from other add-ons which are causing TPP to behave incorrectly.

As you can see in my test store, the issues you are reporting are not present.. I have v1.05 (with updates needed for Zen Cart v1.3.9 compatibility) installed, and I have very few other add-ons installed on this test store (Super Orders, Calendar Events, IH2, ZLB, and FEC). None of the add-ons I have installed on this test store modify the same files as TPP.

Can you roll back to a version of your store before you installed TPP and Cross Sell?? Do you have other modules which touch any of the same files as TPP?

Okay I think I figured it out. I deleted the <!--bof Product description --> to the <!--eof Product description --> and it took it off the bottom.

Then I turned on the Global Main Image and the Global Product Description and I had an extra image up top and in the product description tab along with an extra product title and product price. So then I deleted all the way from <!--bof Main Product Image --> to <!--eof Product Price block --> and it seemed to fix that.

I am going to reinstall the cross sell mod and hopefully it will go under the tab. If not I'm not sure on it lol.

Then I would do some file comparisons of the Cross Sell and TPP mods.. it's clear that one of the changes needed for one or both of these mods is messing with TPP.. Don't know much about the Cross Sell mod so I have to tap out.. :laugh:

I have looked and looked and I just can't find anything on it. I never had the Cross Sell mod installed on my test site and I just installed it and got the same results as on my live site. I think this mod likes to irritate me :laugh:

I have decided to completely unistall it and never use it again. It has given me so much trouble. Thanks for all the help though!

So I tried testing this on an iphone and iPad, the tabs switch just fine but the content does not load under each tab... it stays stuck on the product description.

Has anybody else experienced this? I'm running TPP 1.7.

Really love TPP and believe it is part of our boost in sales this year! Sadly, had to do some other upgrade work that has partially broken it. Our tabs are now simple bullet points. I believe this is due to the fact that we're running 1.0.4. I think we need to upgrade to 1.0.6c.
Numinix upgraded out FEAC to the latest version and required us to step up to PHP5 (5.2.17). They said it was to be able to run CSS JS Loader. We're on z1.3.8a for right now.
So, am I on the right track? Can anyone offer concise upgrade suggestions? We're in the middle of our main season and I'm short on clear brain power. The FEAC upgrade was necessary thanks to some changes in IE that caused hell at checkout. Now, I'm looking through and finding little irritations like this break that need to be mopped up.

I have added the custom tab code to tabbed_products_pro.php

The tab appears as expected :clap:

Okay, now the problem:

Select "Ask A question" tab
If I fill in the "Ask A question" form and select the send button.
The item is added to the shopping cart
and the page is redirected to the shopping_cart page :wacko:

I can't seem to isolate code/problem

FYI, installing the "Ask A Question" outside of a tab
works as expected

Any insight would be appreciated

Can someone please help me with an issue I have?

The issue I am having is in regards to the main image being shown twice for some reason.

Basically what happens is. The product has only one image assigned to it. But when you click on the image for a larger view the image loads in the light box. But down the bottom in the light box it says image one of two. Which means if you click on the next button it will display this same image again.

Now this shouldn't be happening as I only have one image assigned to the product so I don't understand why it is showing the main product image twice in the light box for.

It only happens with the main image and not any additional images that I add.

I have the following installed.

ZenCart version 1.3.9h

Image Handler version 2_0-Rev8d

Zen Lightbox version 1.6.2_20110220

Tabbed Products Pro version 1.07

I have spent the last couple of hours reading this thread and I noticed another fellow had the same issue that I am now facing. But I couldn't find a reply or a mention on how to fix this problem.

So any thoughts suggestion or help on this issue will be very much appreciated.

I had a read of the cj_loader_read_me.txt file. But I don't fully understand it.

As no matter what kind of comment tag I use. I can't seem to comment it out. As when I use the comment tags the tags themselves are being shown on the review tab page along with the button instead of removing the button.

As Damien points out to get the information on a page as a sub tab you have to enable the main tab which means the main tab is showing on the tabs page as well. Which is a bit silly and obviously not how it is suppose to work.

So does anyone have a fix or know how this problem can be fixed?

With TPP global tabs off, add to cart is where I want it to be, under the product description and above the tabs.

When tabs are on, the button moves above the description.

I'm not sure, but there seems to be something wring with your IH2 module, it gives some validation errors, and the tab for additional images shows while there aren't any additional pictures

I redid the merge of the tpl_product_image_display.php for the add-ons on the site, uploaded, and now the add to cart button is at least next to the product description.

Looks like just some minor tweaking and the button will move BELOW the description.

Looks like once again, the dreaded "operator error" is at work! :oops:

I've read all TPP docs at least twice, then read through all of this forum's many, many pages. Although I saw my particular question asked here several times, I never saw an answer, so I'm not sure if it's a dumb question, if it's been answered 47 times already somewhere else, or if no one has an answer, but ... I'll ask anyway.

Is there a way to create a separate tab for each attribute (option name) and then, of course(!), list the option values in the appropriate tab?

I had to move on to other items....
So , I do not have a solution ..

If i remember correctly, the "ask a question" button did not get
the focus (is not active) - So, when you select the "ask a question"
button the "add to cart" button actually has the focus - adds the item to cart and proceeds to checkout page

I will revisit this later as time permits
and if I find the solution I will share

And how does this mod decide what "details" are? All I get is model and mfr.

I was wondering if anyone wouldn't mind taking a look at a site for me. I am trying to keep it to only a few eyes until the launch.

I really like the tabbed products pro module but am running into some issues with the install.. Now granted, This is a joomla site with zencart integration using the Cartage plugin.

The JS in the autoloaders appears to be the base of the problem -- once loaded the screen goes blank.

Let me know anyone and I will email you all the information.

As you are aware TPP 1.07 incorporates Wordpress and Minify

I have Two test beds
1. PC/XAMPP - files in http doc root
2. Linux -- files *NOT* in http doc root

Perhaps, this is an artifact of the configuration of my Linux test bed (non-standard path)
as it works fine on my PC with XAMPP as the files are in http doc root

I have setup my testbed site as
Apache named based Virtual host configuration with the virtual host doc root a different file path than
the apache doc root (the ZC configs and apache conf point to another directory other than apache doc root)

First, check your web site error log .

What I observed in my test is that the error_log shows
that my page is trying to load .css/.js files http doc root /var/www/.....
Not my virtual host doc root /home/user/... where the files reside

The Wordpress addon appears to use var ABS_PATH
which on my Linux box resolves to /var/www/..........
(apache doc root)

Hence, nothing loads

I was not successful in just leaving out wordpress files
/functions/extra_functions/ class.rlwp.php
/functions/extra_functions jscpipt.php

I was not sucessfull in editing class.rlwp.php path
define ('ABSPATH','/var/www/zc138/wordpress/');

So, I rolled back to TPP 1.05 as mentions previously in this thread and all is good
(As 1.05 does not include WP or Minify)

I had a similar issue with easyslider and tabbed prods pro. This thread solved it for me

Basically, the jscripts are interfering with each other during load. that thread tells you how to move one of the scripts into a php file. I did it and not only did it fix my problem, the site is also much, much faster in general.

I have been searching many threads for this random problem I found.

Zencart 1.3.9f

I installed additional images, and it works great. I then installed tabs and it also works great. See example here. It pulled in the additional images already associated with that product.

Then I added some new products and uploaded their additional images. I checked their pages and the additional images don't register as a tab. I checked the admin, and the images show as being uploaded and the status is enabled. I checked all the config settings and they are correct in enabling additional images. However, they don't show up on the website. See page here. This problem only occurs for new products. The old products' images continue to display.

The second issue I noticed is that the attribute image no longer replaces the main product image when selected. This happens with every product (new or old). I have never encountered this problem before, and I checked the attribute settings and they are correct.

Has anyone seen anything like this before? Can anyone suggest which files I should check for bugs? It happened after using tabs.

the swapping of images in places isnt a standard zen cart feature? do you have swap images via mouseover or click installed?

i had this and that module and tabbed products pro is not compatible, despite not having the images enabled on the tabs i couldnt find a work around so eventually had to remove it.

i presume the reason for it not working is much the same as it not working for ask a question mod in tab, any click is registered to be a cart add click or tab swap click, any modules that rely on a click action seem to be useless with this.

Correct, and I used the attribute image module add-on which has worked fine until now. I have had it on the website for almost a year now.

You can see in one of the links I listed that the attributes are not displayed within the tab feature.

Is the add-on developer on this thread? Can you give me any advice on this issue?

I installed additional images, and it works great. I then installed tabs and it also works great. See example here. It pulled in the additional images already associated with that product.

Then I added some new products and uploaded their additional images. I checked their pages and the additional images don't register as a tab. I checked the admin, and the images show as being uploaded and the status is enabled. I checked all the config settings and they are correct in enabling additional images. However, they don't show up on the website. See page here. This problem only occurs for new products. The old products' images continue to display.

The second issue I noticed is that the attribute image no longer replaces the main product image when selected. This happens with every product (new or old). I have never encountered this problem before, and I checked the attribute settings and they are correct.

Has anyone seen anything like this before? Can anyone suggest which files I should check for bugs? It happened after using tabs.

Given that IH3 is based off of IH2 and the changes between the two would not have affected how this mod works with other mods, my answer is no.. (Not to mention I used TPP on my test store during the time we were testing IH3..)

Hi,
I am going to disable global tabs, and only use tabs for products that don't have color attributes. This way the styles that need to show the attribute image when clicked will still function.

It is a shame b/c I would just use global tabs if I could. So if anyone hears of a fix for attribute image model so the the two mods are compatible please let me know!

OK seriously? There is no easy way to arrange the tabs in order?

I have searched for the last 5 hours and everything that is stated here doesn't work.
I am by far NOT a newbie at zencart, but there really isn't any easy way to arrange the tabs?
That just seems beyond absurd, and should have been one of the first things designed in to this.

If you consider that nearly ALL of the free Zen Cart mods developed were usually developed based on the needs of the developers client (versus the community at large), then YES it's possible that a mod does not work the way you might want or have the feature you seek.

OK once again off to pay someone to do something that should have been done anyway. I could make a fortune on mods since I seem to be the only one willing to ever actually update the things with my own cash.. oh yeah but the links to 95% of the shops on here are dead. That's why.

On the contrary. There are lots of store owners who hang out here who understand that mods written for somebody else and generously released to the community for others to use for free may not do exactly what they want out of the box. They appreciate that sometimes to make more money from their store they may need to pay a professional to tweak the mods to their specific needs. They just do so quietly without feeling the need to have a tantrum about it.

Exactly!!! Well stated!!! :clap:

It amazes me that there are still some who think of FREE mods as something equal to commercial software instead of what they REALLY are; custom apps developers created for their OWN needs which they have generously contributed for FREE to the community.. They usually meet the needs of others in the community, but they may or may not match EVERYONE'S needs out the box..

Heck I've worked as a software business analyst for the last 15 years and it's RARE when a packaged commercial solution meets the project stakeholder's needs OUT THE BOX.. So our projects usually include some customization component to meet the need of the stakeholders.. and yep customization ain't free..

Fair enough. In general if an add-on is listed as compatible with 1.3.9 there's a very high chance that it will work for all variants of 1.3.9, which is why they're not differentiated in the downloads area. HTH.

Understood, I have used Zen for many projects, but I still like to check and see it in use before I integrate it into my template.

Also...as I said, I have been away for a while. Kinda sorry I even asked.
