Continuing to try to understand: neither is a "SEO" module? Not trying to go for the all out discussion, could just use the cliff notes version: meaning only covers a portion of what makes up all that is SEO, or truly has no relationship with it?
The question also about obtaining specific "SEO" functionality, I personally would say sure would like to do what is possible to maintain SEO "acceptance". But also if uri rewriters like these two don't help get closer to that I would be interested in recommendations/schooling on what would.
Just saying the primary focus of the modules mentioned in this thread is not to "automagically" provide SEO for one's website. All three modules mentioned do allow one to provide alternative URLs with semantically relevant keywords. This is the primary focus of the three modules mentioned.
Such URLs may have a small impact on usability for visitors, listings in search engines, and be desirable for other business reasons. However I feel they are only a small part of a much larger picture and it irks me to hear people call these modules a "SEO module" when the primary focus is on allowing alternative URLs.
The original question was along the lines of "help me find a SEO module" (not help me change the URLs). The OP responded with "permalink" while I was typing the message you quoted. My message was intended to help educate the OP without going into massive detail about SEO and also provide helpful information and links to the support threads for the mentioned modules.
