Hi
Thanks for this but there are already attributes set up and applied to products in the new store.
I was hoping Apsona would create the new options name and options values as it imported.
Is this possible?
-
Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
DVDTitan - we don't yet have a way to create product options and values while importing attributes, so at the moment, ShopAdmin only supports importing (or setting up) options and values ahead of the attribute imports. We will look into what it takes to support this feature.
Thanks for the feedback, and best regards.

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
I followed the instruction to install the addon and after clicking the apsona shopadmin under the tools tab, there is a page shows up with error message on it.
"Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."
my zen cart version is 1.3.8 and php version is 5.2.14.
Please help.
thank you.

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
I figured out . After installation the addon , most of those files' permission is 664 which is wrong. I don't know why but had to manually change them to 644 to work! My hosting company is justhost.com. My zen cart version is 1.3.8 and my php version is 5.2.14.

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
I have apsona installed but I am having a problem with importing files. I am using the Zencart product finder addon and I am having trouble trying to match the file structure.
I have a master category (ID used for it is *) with three sub categories, Make Model and Year.
Off of the sub categories I have sub-sub categories that represent the make, ie ford ,chev, model, ie taurus, ranger, year, ie 1990, 1991 etc.
How do I create a table structure to match the above.?

PS. See the image/diagram I have posted at the following thread

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
They're still just categories with sub-categories. So, treat them as you would any other parent category or sub-category or sub-sub category.

If your question is asking how to set up the CSV file for importing products and categories via ShopAdmin, I would suggest looking in the support area of the Apsona website. There are several pages and videos that address this very issue.
If I have misunderstood your question, though, please clarify.

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
I'm having a problem all of a sudden in Firefox. When I start Apsona from the tools menu it presents the login box for my admin id in a new window. It does this in Firefox and Chrome. Safari takes me directly to the Apsona window without additional login. When I login on Firefox it just keeps giving me the login window. On Chrome after the second login it presents the Apsona window. I am unable to use Apsona in Firefox. Any idea what's going on? I've cleared cookies, cache, restarted firefox, and rebooted the PC.

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
Hello Apsona,
I am looking at your product and all the positive comments "Well Done and Thank You" for with your add on for ZC.
From a security aspect, we ask why does Apsona need to communicate with your server when the connection and operation is between a PC and a ZC site.
We used a number of commercial add on's and have completely removed them except for one due the commercial add on's constantly communicating with the software developers servers. I realize they do this from a commercial aspect of ensuring their software is protected and being used correctly.
With the level of security issues and liabilities circulating your reply would be appreciated.

I had the same concern, and am satisfied that it's fine.
It reads the up-to-date app from their server, but does ALL the processing on *your* PC and *your* server.
None of your store data is transferred back to them. Their server is only involved insomuch as delivering the ajax application to your browser. That's it.
Their privacy policy is on their website, as well as FAQ articles explaining their SAAS model and addressing your security concerns.

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
After a couple of days of fighting Easy Populate Advanced and ZC 1.3.9h I finally gave up and started searching for someone to pay to try to install it for me. I had done it before but for some reason was having trouble with this version of ZC.
While searching, I came across Apsona ShopAdmin and decided to take a look at it. WOW it was so simple to install, everything goes into one folder and your done. It worked great first time, no problems and looks like it'll be terrific especially for the number of products I will need to upload and take care of. Very simple interface and although I haven't had the chance to try everything in it, I'm very pleased with what it does and the ease of using it.
Thank you, Apsona, for something so easy to use and install.

I'm not sure if you will see this but I did something similar on my site. I used the categories flyout add on and also a mod to kill the links to the sub cats that aren't holding anything. Seems to work but I'd be better off paying someone for this as the original intent isn't quite there. I did upload about 400 categories and subcategories with success and also the products in them. If you'd like more info I may be able to help.

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
I would like to extend a big thank you to Apsona for fixing an issue that was reported with mass deleting records. The delete process appeared to "hang" at times and caused high CPU usage on the server. I reported this to Apsona and they had it fixed and included in an update the very next day - the process now completes almost instantaneously and the issue is completely resolved!
Your service is stellar, as is your product! THANK YOU, APSONA!

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
Zen 1.3.9H
Apsona V1.07
Anybody have any problems importing products with a bug that is taking the product code and substituting it as the product ID? I finally was able to duplicate it so I'm positive that is what is happening...
So my products table has product_ID 3959 and the product model number I'm importing is 3959. It continues to say the products are already in the table when it clearly is not. I enabled the "Update The Database" for duplicates to track it down and successfully altered product ID 3959 now showing 3959 for the model number when none existed and it should have added the product not modified and also should not see a duplicate when the 3959 number is listed in the "Model" column.
Yes the header was NOT prod_ID so this should have never have happened. Can anyone help? I've got over 6K products ready to load and this is causing major problems. The only thing I can think to do (which does work) is renumber the products with letters but that will cause mismatch problems for me.

Well I didn't expect that but let me say, the product is great! There are things I can do that EP could not and I have the pro version which I've used up to this point. This is a nice add on and actually more than just an add on as it really functions virtually all by it self.
I am glad you could reproduce because I've been fighting with it for over a week trying to determine what was causing it and finally figured out what it was doing.
You guys are doing great and I do appreciate it!!!

And, of course, thanks for your kind words. We're delighted that you like the product.

You don't have to do anything special. The bug fix will take effect the next time you refresh your ShopAdmin window.

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
Hello
First i have to say that this is realy a great module, this one saves me alot of time, since i have 100000+ products to add to my zen-cart shop, but there is one problem i cant figure out, i have a split list with 3181 product lines in it, and when i import it (with enabled to yes) it does not show the first 100 products, in zen-cart admin main page it says there is 3181 products total but when i go to the categories it only says 3081.
And the first 100 products its not in the shop or even apsona says it has imported all records.
Any ideas what i can do or have done wrong?
I use a fresh instal version 1.3.9h

Is it possible that the first 100 records don't have categories associated with them? ShopAdmin will show all records in your product table, regardless of whether they are associated with categories, but (as far as I know) Zen Admin looks for products by category, so it won't show products without categories. (If I'm mistaken on that one, please correct me.)

We haven't been able to reproduce this problem. Does this happen if you upload just one batch with those offending 100 product records? Can you send us some sample data that illustrates this, either via e-mail or through this forum?
Thanks.

Have just uploaded 2 more sets of products, and same happend with them, apsona says it has imported all products, and zen-cart admin also says there is the same amount of products in db, but when i go to the categories its 100 less products in each category.
can't figure out why it does that, since there is no problems in the csv files, and its allways the first 100 products that do not show up in the store..............

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
Another thing i wounder about, is if you have the same model number in different categories, when you do a price update, will this update only one product or all products that match that model nr?

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
harlyman - we haven't had any similar bug reports concerning the product import errors you mention, but we'll gladly investigate the issue. Please send us email at support (at) apsona.com with any sample data you can provide us.
As for the other question about price updates: if you're talking about the editing or "update all" features in ShopAdmin, they are performed via product id, so they will only affect the record(s) you have selected for editing.
Hope this helps.

Hello
I solved the product problem, but regarding the price update, if i have a price list with products that i need to update my shop with, if i choose to do this by model number it only update prices on 1 product with that model number, but since one model is in several categories, apsona only updates the first model it locates in the shops db, and not all of them, is there a way to do this?
The products are not linked btw.

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
Hi,
I downloaded the Apsona mod but I have had very little success. When trying to upload a csv product file it fails 95% of the time. The two errors that are returned are:
1) The server is not responding. Please check your network connection.
Status: error
or
2) System progress bar unavailable: Maybe Maybe some other component is using it?
I had emailed Apsona direct yesterday but I have had no reply. Can anyone help?

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
Simmons - this is likely to be a server misconfiguration. It happens because the server is taking too long to respond to requests from ShopAdmin. We've had a few cases where the user's server had a firewall configuration set incorrectly, causing this issue. Perhaps you should ask your hosting company about this.
Hope this helps.

This sounds like you are trying an update via the import process. For this to work correctly, the model number field must be unique (i.e., every product record must have a different model number). But it doesn't sound like that's the case in your database, since you say you have the same model number in several categories as distinct product records. In this situation, you will have to update by product id rather than model number. One way to do this is to export the product ids of the products you want to update, change the prices, and then use the product ids for the update.

Ok that makes it harder and alot more work to do, need to figure a way to be able to update all products with same model number in the zen db, might be an idea for next release or update to add a select all or update all based on model numbers not just one uniqe model.

Hi, I have had a reply from my hosts who say there has been no changes to the server configuration or the firewall. I have only just started to use/play/learn your Apsona add-on since the 26th of Dec. Everything was working fine until the 29th of Dec.
I have reinstalled the files in case there was a problem. Used Win-merge to compare the files before and after this problem and there is no difference. I have even installed the files on another test zen cart website on a different domain but it still returns the same errors messages.
Any ideas?

It would help greatly if I can understand this use case better. I had the impression that requiring model numbers to be distinct is appropriate, but your use case contradicts that.
What is it about the product-id-based update requirement that makes it a lot harder? Is it that you're getting your prices in a price book from an external source? Can you describe the process you follow, and the data source you get the data from? We can then accommodate such uses within ShopAdmin.
Thanks in advance for your inputs.

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
Can anyone help? Apsona worked fine until the 29th where everything worked except uploading products by a CSV file.
I can export, I can update existing product records but I cannot create new products by CSV file????? I get no validation errors and the new categories are created but not the new products within that newly created category.
My hosts have tried too and they say it is defiantly not a server / firewall problem.
I can change, delete and add new products and categories manually one by one via both the Zen Cart Admin and the Apson Tab, but completely unable to upload new products via CSV.
I have this installed and tested Apsona on three new clean Zen Cart installs on two separate servers and both have the same error. 'unable to connect' then after that every error message reads “System progress bar unavailable: Maybe some other component is using it?” until I close down aspona and restart it.

The second error (about the system progress bar) is related to the first one. So, please send us a screen shot of the first error message, with the entire browser window, to support (at) apsona.com. Also, a couple of questions: What browser are you using? And how many product records are in your CSV file? Does the same thing happen with very small numbers of records (say 20) in the CSV file?
Thanks for the bug report. We'll do our best to resolve it.

Also, I had a friend try for me on another computer on a different internet connection and she could not get it to work either. If that helps?

Hi, thanks for this.
I have tried Windows Vista, FF and Chrome, Windows 7, FF and Chrome. My Hosts tried with Linux using FF. My Friend tried on Linux using FF.
The same thing happens with only 2 records. When creating a new product manually via the Apson tab, i get the same 'cannot connect error' but the product is added. After that, Apson needs to be closed down and restarted to add another record.
I will email the screen shot asap.
Thanks

Thank you for your replay, this is how it works:
Im selling car parts, and many of the parts fits several types of cars and models, so each model number (part number) i have fits into several categories, so when i get a new updated price list from my manufactures, i want to update all categories that have the same model number in it, but since this price lists contain from 4500 to 30000 uniqe product numbers it do take time to update all this by hand, but at the momemt apsona only update the first model number it find in the zen db, but i guess this becouse it use model numbers as a uniqe one in zen-cart, not that you need that since it allways has a uniqe product-id to identify each model number.
each price list is a exel file with 2 coloms, one with part number and one with price.
so if you are able to make apsona to update all model numbers with a select all and then update all statment when it checks the db for model numbers to update it would be great, hope this helps.

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin and Admin Profiles Mod
Hi,
First off I'd like to say thank you for a great product!
I have it running successfully on my Zen Cart V1.3.8a site that has Admin Profiles installed. I am in the process of upgrading to V1.3.9h but on my upgrade site Apsona installs and runs but as soon as I install Admin profiles I get:
Quote:
1064 You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'apsona_index');'' at line 1
in:
[SELECT id FROM zen_admin_files WHERE page = '#" title="Apsona ShopAdmin - opens in new window" onclick="apsona_showPopup('apsona_index');']
If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.
Half my menu options disappear too. If I remove /includes/boxes/extra_boxes/apsona_app_tools_dhtml.php everything comes back but obviously I don't have access to Apsona. Removing Admin Profiles also restores full functionality again.
Does anyone have any idea what may be causing this?

I'm not sure I fully understand the way admin profiles works, but the SQL is definitely incorrect. The admin profiles add-on should be checking for the page named apsona_index.php, but instead it is page named this:
Code:
#" title="Apsona ShopAdmin - opens in new window" onclick="apsona_showPopup('apsona_index');
To me this seems like an error in the way the admin profiles add-on was configured. I am aware of some other folks on this forum that have used admin profiles in conjunction with ShopAdmin, so I hope one of them can help.
Regards.

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
Many thanks for the quick reply. I'll post a request in the Admin Profiles thread point back to this one to see if anyone has any ideas.
I can reproduce this problem using a fresh install of 1.3.9h. I've sent you an email on this.
Many thanks,
Brent

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
Hi, my host has done further digging and discovered why Apsona suddenly stopped working on my site. They said it was due to;
"ModSecurity: Rule execution error - PCRE limits exceeded (-8): (null). ??"
They have said that “recursion limits are imposed to avoid killing the server when you have deeply recursive patterns. Also it is not possible to change these limits” and the better work-around is to revise my scripts rather than disable this rule.
They can and will disable ModSecurity, but they strongly advised me against requesting this for security reasons.
Unfortunately this is over my head. Can you advise? As security is of my highest importance to me and I would be unhappy going against my host's advice.
Thanks
Lisa

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
Its great that apsona supports wholesale pricing, but is there a way to disable the currensy check it does?? becouse i use the duelprice module and would like to add the whole sale price in format 0.00-0.00-0.00 but apsona does not allow me to

Hello,
This would have to be customized for your cart, because not all users would want it this way. Please get in touch with us via e-mail at support (at) apsona.com, and we'll accommodate this.

This issue seems specific to your hosting service - we have not had similar reports from any of our other users. Searching through the web, one recommended solution seems to be to add the following into your Apache configuration file:
Quote:
SecPcreMatchLimit 150000
SecPcreMatchLimitRecursion 150000
It's possible that you can do this yourself, via your hosting control panel. If not, you'll have to ask your hosting company to add these lines for you.
I hope this helps.
Regards.

Nope, just checked again. We don't have an email address for you, either. Can you please send us an email to support at apsona.com, or perhaps use the contact us form on our website?
Thanks.

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
Hi, I emailed Apsona support last week but I have not had a reply. I showed my host your info.
“SecPcreMatchLimit 150000
SecPcreMatchLimitRecursion 150000"
They have responded with
“Relaxing mod_security for 1 site or script defeats the point of it protecting the server. It only takes 1 addon/script/site with a relaxed mod_security to be exploited and it can potentially ruin the day for everyone else who was happy to work with mod_security.
We have also consulted widely with Zen Cart professionals and they all advise that this problem is unique to the way in which this particular add-on has been coded. They all advise against relaxing security simply in order to allow this add-on to operate. We also feel that relaxing security would undermine the efforts of the Zen Cart Team to keep their software secure.
We are very sorry, but we are unable to support your request and refer you back to our original advice of revising the code."
Any more ideas?
Thanks
Lisa

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
Hi Lisa,
This is the first such issue we've heard of with mod_security from among all the thirty or so hosting companies that have deployed and used ShopAdmin, so I'm tempted to ask what is special about this particular hosting company's configuration that causes this problem. I'd love to hear the inputs from other folks on this forum - particularly the hosting companies - on this issue.
In any case, it would be great if your hosting company can furnish us technical details about exactly what kinds of behavior causes the security error. This would help us isolate the issue and look into what it would take to recode the script. From what I'm seeing, the error is triggered by your hosting company every time an insert SQL statement is executed from the script, and that seems to be too severe a restriction.
Hope this helps.

I suppose they are getting the same thing everybody else writing, updating, and supporting these free add-ons gets.. NOT A DARN THING!!! That's kinda how open source works..
Apsona is not the only one who provides a world class product for Zen Cart and EXCELLENT support for NOT ONE THIN DIME.. I can name a TON of examples of other such mod contributors.. (Conor of Ceon URI fame comes STRAIGHT to the top of my head.. but there are many many others as well..)

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
I would guess that at some point it will become subscription-based.
Good luck to them for providing such useful tools and excellent support.
Note they they can also do personalised features as part of the stock application for your account only if you need something really site-specific.

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
My hosts (UKFast) disabled my account after a month of using Apsona. For reasons associated with the same Mumbai, Indian IP range that Apsona uses to take your data to and from your PC to your websever, coincidence?

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
Thanks to Apsona for a really fantastic admin, it's the easiest way ever to increase my sales, all my sales are multiplied by 100 ...
well, it's all got to do with the '.' and ',' of course, I live in Belgium where we use the ',' and not the '.' for decimal, how do I set this in Apsona ?
also, I would like to translate Apsona to dutch, where can I find the files for the translation ?

I'm not sure I understand what this is about. Apsona does not use any external servers for data movement - it simply moves data from your server to your browser. Can you please explain? Where does Mumbai figure in this picture?

Curious myself to hear how anyone came up with this conclusion.. Have they NOT seen this thread, looked at the application or read the documentation on the Apsona website:
Quote:
ShopAdmin communicates directly with your shopping cart's database via the
ShopAdmin add-on, a thin layer of PHP code that resides within your shopping cart. (We will provide this add-on for you when you
sign up.) The
ShopAdmin UI component provides a rich, powerful and easy-to-use interface in your browser, and commmunicates with the ShopAdmin add-on to show your data. You can find more details
here.

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
I sent several emails to Apsona support regarding this in attempts to get a dialog going with myself and my hosts. No response was ever received. Regardless of what your website states or the methods of communications or the US location of Apsona, when I used the Apsona add-on, traffic to and from my site was routed to a blacklisted IP address. The location of which is Mumbai, India. My account was suspended because of the phenomenal volume of traffic their spam systems were blocking on the shared server from the set of IPs my host said my scripts were communicating with. After convincing them that I had no idea what was happening, they subsequently asked me to either removed the offending php file (one of the Apsona php files supplied) or find a new host.
There is a lot more I could say publicly, but nothing I have not said privately to support.

This is certainly very strange, because it is the first time I'm hearing of this. I'm the one that handles all of Apsona's emails. There were a few emails quite a while ago asking our privacy policies, and I'm sure I responded to them. Are you sure you sent the emails to support at apsona.com?
As for the add-on misbehaving, that's a serious matter. We do everything we can to ensure the quality of our software, and I would be very surprised (to say the least) if it misbehaves the way you assert. Perhaps you can furnish the technical details of the URLs, the files in question and the IP addresses of the hosts involved in this alleged spamming? That way we can get to the bottom of it.
Regards.

We just pushed out (last week) an update that should support locale-specific number formatting, and the Belgian (BE) and Dutch (NL) formats are both included there. Are you still having this problem? If so, are you by any chance using a browser that is configured as English rather than Dutch?
If not, please let us know, and we'll investigate further.
The translation is a nontrivial effort, and we're still working on creating a vocabulary. We'll let you know as soon as that's done. Thanks for your interest!

Hello,
I'm still having the same problem with the decimal '.' and ',', I just uploaded 100 new items with Apsona, most of them are just 1,00 euro, and all went well, but when I look at them in Apsona, the price is 10.000,00 euro, I would love to sell them at that price, but I'm afraid it's wishful thinking ..
All the prices in the shop are correct, but not in the shopadmin,

I never did get to the bottom of my problem from post 154. Is anyone currently running Apsona with Admin Profiles V1.1.1 on Zen V1.3.9h without any problems?
At least that way I know it does work and there is an answer out there and I will keep digging.

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
I don’t know that this is a bug with Apsona, but some of my product don’t show a picture until I open the product for editing and update.
Then with others I’ll have to copy the same image name showing for the product into:
“select an existing image file from server, filename:” and update, then it shows.
Any ideas?

O.K. this was defiantly not a problem with Apsona.
I don’t know how I did it, but somehow I managed to screw up that upload.
Maybe there was an extra space in the file name when I edited the spreadsheet (most likely), or some other reason Zencart didn’t recognize the file name until I copied it to use this file name on server.
I did upload another 200 products today all without a problem.
I do have a suggestion. I’ve mentioned it in Feedback, but I don’t know if it will be added, or not.
When you export your Products, there is lots of information. To make this module even more useful to those sending there products to Google, if the export included:
The url to the Product
The url to the image
The Category Name instead of the number

Thanks for this update, it definitely helps. As for your feature requests:
- The product URL is generated internally by Zen Cart. But perhaps you mean that you use one of the add-ons for SEO-friendly URLs, such as CEON?
- The image URL is also generated internally by Zen Cart, as far as I know. ShopAdmin sees only what's in the database. All the same, we're open to suggestions on how this could be improved.
- You're implying that it exports the category number when exporting products? I wonder if you have an outdated version of the ShopAdmin add-on. If you have the current one, it should show category names when exporting products. Please clarify.
Regards.

Yes, when I export my products the category, and master category shows up as a numbers.
I installed Apsona on Jan. 10th. How can I tell what version I’m using? Since I’m not using Export for anything right now, its not a big deal.
I would normally use Easy Populate to produce the file to upload to Google, but I can’t remember how to add the UPC/ISBN fields. Its been a few years since I did it.
The changes I suggested may not be necessary after all.
I tried my first upload to Google today, and just over 1100 items were accepted out of 1400. I used Google Base Feeder which produces a xml file and I don’t like using them because I’m more comfortable with a CVS spreadsheet. I think its easier to spot and correct mistakes in the file. Its the first time I’ve used Google Base Feeder, and I wanted to see what would happen.
Since Google accepted the upload and they didn’t send me any hate mail (not yet anyway) I’ll just use this method for now.
Thanks,
-
Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
Hello folks,
If you run a multi-lingual cart, you might be interested to know that ShopAdmin now supports nine languages other than English: Czech, Danish, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, Norwegian and Swedish. The translation should kick in when you change the language selector menu at the top right of your ShopAdmin window. (That menu will only appear if your cart is multi-lingual.)
The translation is only partial, and it's done via Google Translate, so there are probably a lot of inaccuracies. All the same, we'd love to know what you think of it. Comments/feedback/criticism most welcome.
Regards.

Is there something wrong with the search facility in Apsona Shopadmin ?
Since a few days, whenever I try to search anything in Apsona, the search facility can't find anything and it slows the complete site down to a crawl.

To my knowledge, we have not made any changes to the searching or querying components for some time now. Can you describe a bit more? What searches types of are slow, products or categories or customers or what? And what search strings cause trouble? Please e-mail us some details and we'll gladly investigate.

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
Hi,
when I do a search for a product, I type any word that I know is in a title of a product, it takes ages to find anything (there are some 4000 products in my shop), and while the search is in progress, I can hardly do anything in my (zen-cart)admin, it takes 20 or 30 seconds to load a page.
the search in Apsona used to be very quick, and strangely enough, I can't do a search in my usual admin for products I've uploaded through Apsona, I suppose I must do something wrong, maybe I should use some extra field.

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
Apsona,
I have just signed up and have installed your shopadmin. It loaded from my ZC admin right off without a hitch, however, when I click "Settings" I see no tables at all. I have allowed time for the tables to load but still nothing shows in that screen. Is there a config I should be doing to see the tables? Can the tables be edited from this screen? (I do have another shipping mod that I have to edit to add specific products that apply to this shipping mod) Is there a generic help file with the mod? Should I be checking your homepage for additional help?
Thanks!

Sorry about that bug - the empty table list was because of an error in the code we put out last night. It should now be fixed.
However, that screen is meant to be read-only, in the sense that you can't create tables or fields from it. You can only view their properties there. If you wish to have specific fields added to your ShopAdmin interface, please get in touch with us via our website, and we'll be glad to help.
There is no separate help file, other than the content in the support area of the website.

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
Hi there,
Fantastic tool, just what I was looking for :) :) :)
However, im having difficulty uploading large CSV files..
I have over 87,000 products in a CSV of about 33mb... but when I go to upload into apsona it just times out and remains on working...
Also with many lines it wont let me try the copy and paste method either.
If i make the CSV file smaller then it uploads and inserts fine with no problems, same for copy and paste.
But we are looking to update our product list every 3 hours to represent more accurate stock levels at our stockist.
So splitting a 33mb csv into ten 3mb files will be very time consuming.
Is the problem with apsona? is there a maximum input limit?
Or is the problem purely just because firefox cant handle that kind of data?
Any help is greatly welcomed...

These are exactly my thoughts. There's clearly a lot of work put into it. I can't find anything objectionable in the T&C, I can see a lot of happy users, and I can't find anyone anywhere suggesting there's anything scammy or dodgy about it.
So I'm just left wondering what's in it for Apsona? I'd just like to know that before I go installing code on the server.

Apsona offers other services to generate income. I asked the same question when I started using them over a year ago.....don't question it - just use it - it is a great system! :-)

I agree.. It's like any other contributor of open source solutions.. It's the spirit of open source.. This is just like asking the Zen Cart admins what's in it for them.. (or the Drupal, WordPress or Joomla admins for that matter)
Apsona isn't the only stellar mod with outstanding support here.. We have a LOT of great Zen Cart contributors offering stellar modules and stellar support..

Now that's an understatement! How the hell have I not heard of this before?! It's utterly fantastic!
I've been playing with it on a test store for about an hour now.
All my gripes about mass/batch updating/moving products are gone. My product report woes have vanished. And it's SO FAST!
Someone pinch me, I must be dreaming!

Thanks.
Hi Apsona,
Just a quick update to let you know that another user has reported the same problem over in the Admin Profiles thread.

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
Edit: Scrap that (below). I'd forgotten to put the category: subcategory format when importing.
I just assumed it did that when exporting. So there's an export niggle, not an import bug!
Just found a bug - when you mass import items where it needs to create a top level category AND a subcategory with products in, it creates both categories at the top level, putting the products in the correct category.
Not a major problem when there's a couple of categories as you can easily move whole categories in Apsona, but could be a problem when importing lots of cats. I'll report a bug to Apsona.

Never let it be said that I don't give a little back on occassion!
The "official" Apsona vid is a little complicated for simple export, and I needed to show someone how to do a simple export template > edit and add > import.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=raenojMRMCU&hd=1
It's 3 and a half minutes long, and of course, you need to apply it to your own products, but this is really a quick "basics" guide for when you need a template to work from. Any use to anyone?
