And what is the error? If you're product filename isn't registered with WLPS, it will reject the file immediately.
The file is registered. It uploads the file and right as it completes it says HTTP ERROR 403 or something like that.
Has anyone figured out why this is happening? Any ideas?
Ok I just tried to upload it manually again and it took it but then I got this message-
Catalog rejected: Not in the expected XML format.
I think there may be something wrong with the code?
I'm using it without any problems so it must be your installation. I would try running the uninstall SQL patch, uninstall all of the files from your sever and then start from scratch. A file might have been corrupted during the upload, it happens sometimes. And make sure that lps.php is installed in the root directory of your zencart.
Matt
It's more likely that his XML feed is incomplete and doesn't have the closing declarations. We really can't go into further detail without seeing the feed itself. A link would be appreciated...
I already checked to see if the file completed and it was. I'm going to try to uninstall and reinstall and ill get back to you.
I just looked at the file on your site and everything looks fine...
Just make sure you have registere the correct filename with WLPS.
Good luck.
Hi,
I installed this module and tried creating my product feed. I received the following warning. What did I do wrong?
Warning: chmod() [function.chmod]: Operation not permitted in /home/dealbyet/public_html/lps.php on line 70
More information
I realized that I installed v1.04. So I updated to v1.06 by overwriting files and running the updated sql. When I clicked to create my product feed, it still shows the same warning.
Warning: chmod() [function.chmod]: Operation not permitted in /home/dealbyet/public_html/lps.php on line 78
Delete the feed file and let the script create it.
Hi Jeff
Thanks for your help. After deleting the lps.xml feed file, the script then did create a new one itself. However, when I clicked to view my product feed file before proceeding to step 2, I received this error:
XML Parsing Error: no element found
Location: http://www.dealbyethan.com/feed/lps.xml
Line Number 13087, Column 9:</Offer>
--------^
Also, when I clicked to upload product feed to Live Product Search, I received this error:
Feed file - /home/dealbyet/public_html/feed/lps.xml
Processing: Feed - No, Upload - Yes
Upload started...
Connection failed: ftp.productupload.live.com
Warning: ftp_connect() [function.ftp-connect]: php_network_getaddresses: getaddrinfo failed: Name or service not known
Upload failed...
Clicking to view Live Product Search FTP content resulted in this message:
Live Product Search FTP content:
Connected to: ftp.productupload.live.com
Connection failed: ftp.productupload.live.com
Is something wrong with my installation? Please advise. Thank you.
Nothing is wrong. Your script is timing out before completing. Also, the issue with not being able to use FTP functions seems to be related to hosting and non-dedicated ip's.
This costs about $2 a month...
Hi Jeff,
Thanks for your explanation.
When you said my script is timing out before completing, what should I do with this problem?
What should I tell my hosting company about the issue with not being able to use FTP functions? Who do I pay the $2 per month to?
Your host would offer dedicated IP's as an upgrade on your current package.
You can increase the timeout length in php.ini as well as the Zen Cart admin as described earlier in this thread and also in the Google Base Feeder support thread (I believe it also states in the GBF readme.txt as well).
Another thing you can do is set the start and stop to a set amount of products. You seem to be getting around 3000 products in your feed so anywhere around that number would probably work. Then run it again at 3001. Use max_products to set the end.
excellent mods. Works great!
Thank you!
I get the Live error 2 out of 3 times - the Goolge uploads all of the time, you just have to keep retrying Live and it will go through or FTP it.

I see Live.com has been updated -- if you FTP then you have to FTP everytime or vice versa
Changes to the upload method for all catalogs: When you create a new catalog, the upload method that you select for that catalog, either HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol. A protocol used to transmit files over the Web.) or FTP (File Transfer Protocol. A fast, high bandwidth method of communicating between two computers.) , can't be changed. When you update a catalog, you must use the same upload method that you used when you first uploaded the catalog. If you have existing catalogs in Product Upload Beta, the last upload method that was used to upload each catalog will be set as the permanent upload method for it.
Yes, the WLPS FTP server falls very short of the capabilities of the Google Base FTP server. Fortunately, Live is so useless for sending traffic that it doesn't really matter.
I just installed Windows Live Product Search Feeder, and I installed the GoogleBase feeder a couple days ago. The problem I am having is both feeds are using my _Lrg images for product images instead of _Med. I do not have _Lrg images for all products as it is actually a "detailed view" of the product if one is needed.
What do I need to change to get this to grab the _Med images instead?
I am really having a difficult time getting this mod to work. I have no issue with generating the file, but I can't seem to be able to ftp the file. I am getting the same error the other users are getting
I was told by my web hosting company if the ftp upload is it browser based, it won't work because anonymous ftp is disabled.Quote:

I have your google base, feeder as well as your yahoo feeder installed, I am using the same feeder folder for all, could that also be causing the same issue?
Thanks for this great add-on
I was pleased to be able to successfully get to the "Processing" stage on both of my stores. However, I'm in the 5th day of waiting for it to finish processing and publish. Could this indicate a glitch of some kind?
Thanks
I just installed this mod and when I try to create the feed file, a small window pops up and says:

Seems the "LPS_OUTPUT_FILENAME" isn't defined some place.
Any tips?
Dan
It is defined from within the ADMIN->CONFIGURATION->GOOGLE BASE FEEDER CONFIGURATION
I assume you meant ADMIN->CONFIGURATION->Live Product Search FEEDER CONFIGURATION ?????
I looked there first thing after installing as I do use Google Feeder. All I have there is:
username, password, server and currency choices.
One thing I wonder if I did wrong: the instructions say:
"3. Go to Admin->Tools->Install SQL Patches and install lps.sql"
I stared at that a while, and then did exactly what it says.
I installed the patches first...... then the lps.sql.
I wonder if installing sql in the wrong order screwed it up?
BTW Zen version 1.3.6
Dan
Hmmm... You know, I don't think I even SAW the two SQL patches! I ran the lps.sql and am not receiving any errors but it has been stuck on "processing" forever. When I run them now I receive the following error:
I take it that means that I DID run them, right??Quote:

running 1.3.7 with current version of this contribution. this mod is running on www.rubberduckbathrooms.co.uk/store and is where im getting the error when trying to upload
I've been uploading this feed via WS-FTP for several months, this morning uploaded 2 stores successfully, but the 3rd store failed consistently with this error: "453 Transfer complete but post processing FAILED". Apparently the upload works but the processing fails after that, and the prior data still shows on the Live Search Catalogs page. Suppose the Live Search FTP servers are down?
Anyone have any idea?
Hi,
I have two problems.
First, when it generates the XML file, it does not add the following to the end:
</OfferCollection>
</DataFeed>
Second, FTP fails with no response. I would contact my host but I have google and yahoo modules installed working without a hitch.
Any ideas?
Thanks,

my catalog was rejected!!!
Dear Merchant,
Catalog Rubber Duck Bathrooms has been rejected!
Your catalog Rubber Duck Bathrooms has been rejected, and couldn't be published on Windows Live Product Search due to one or more of following reasons:
Invalid Offer format:
One or more of required fields are missing
The delimiters provided in the file don't match the catalog settings
Data Errors
To publish your catalog, go to your Live Product Upload account and upload the catalog file again in the correct format.
Best regards,
Product Upload Customer Support Team
upload on both rubber duck and fire2you not working!
Well it's good to know there's still hope! It seems as though installation and application of the mod went well, which left me very confused as to why I couldn't get past the final "processing" hurdle.
Thanks for checking into it - I'll keep my fingers crossed and be patient.
Tim
I also contacted them about it, received an email back essentially saying the same thing, but they added "In the meantime, I have formulated a workaround for this problem. You may want to split your catalog into smaller files and attempt to upload them separately. "
Since the upload isn't the problem, it's the post-processing causing the pain, and the catalogs appear to be locked, I guess you'd have to set up several catalogs to do that. And the upload files aren't that big anyway, about 600Kb. Is that "big"?
Also, the Product Live pages now don't want me to sign out, click the link and it keeps coming back as still signed in.

i am unable to upload through either of my site but i can upload through filezilla direct by ftp.
i got one of my catalogs rejected, how ever i have been getting an error on google base as well and only 212 products listed, but then when i slit my products into 4 files each with 200 products max to total 664 products this seems to solve the error on google so far so done the same with live to see if this sorts the problem and so far not been rejected so fingers crossed.
how can i make a cron job to create these files and upload?? ie creayt file called live1 for first 200, live2 for products 201-401, and live3 for 401-601 etc???
Hi,
I looked through the threads and found some related subject matter but I did not find a clear solution to the error I am getting when I try to upload the xml file.

Anyone have a solution to this issue? By the way, the google base feeder works great.

I have even tried using filezilla to upload my catalog which worked but then 3 days later I received a message that my catalog had been rejected for one of the following reasons:
Invalid Offer format:
One or more of required fields are missing
The delimiters provided in the file don't match the catalog settings
Data Errors
If anyone has had success please let us know what you did but it may be that this service is still in beta.
This is the most common question with the feeders and has to do with the script timing out before finishing the feed. See, XML files require the closing tags or they will not validate.
You can manually close them yourself.
So my catalog supposedly got published, but int he settings at Live it says "Merchant Category removed: does not conform to the correct format"
So...none of my products even show up
in the xml file it's showing:
<MerchantCategory>GIRLS | Outerwear</MerchantCategory>
with the | between the category and subcategories. I'm sure that is the probelm since it is not listed in the "allowed" characters...
I don't know what I need to do to fix this.
Update: I downloaded the .xml file directly from my feed directory in Cpanel and manually uploaded the file using HTTP. The catalog was published within 1 day.Quote:

I checked the feed folder to see if it was there and it's not. Not sure where to go from here since it's not creating the file. Any suggestions as to what might be the problem?

i have this modual installed on my 2 site as seen below. i also have the google feed installed on both site.
with www.rubberduckbathrooms.co.uk i installed both moduals google and live and both worked first time out of the box so to say.
with www.fire2you.co.uk i found that neither google or live worked and recieved errors. with live i recieved this error. also had a simular error with google.
with this error is has to do with passive mode and the server. Both my sites are osted through the same companie on the same server package it was just a wierd error.Code:Processing: Feed - No, Upload - Yes

i then edited the following on line 431
and changed it toCode:ftp_pasv($cd, false);
this turned passive mode on and the upload workedCode:ftp_pasv($cd, ture);
hope this helps people out
Right, that's what I tried and it still didn't work. I'll try it again...
Just tried again, 3 times, all three times the upload failed....quickly.
what the error you recieve.
only other thing to do is download a new copy of the modual (might have a curruption) and upload again to your site.
then make sure all these file are set to 644 and the feed folder is set to 755
run this from standard with no modifications if you recieve the same error as mine, try the passive mode change above if you still recieve the same or different error please let us know the version of zencart you using and the version of live mod your trying to use.
Ehh...not worth it anymore. I'll just use an FTP program to put the file up there once a week....as long as the Google one works I'm fine....I get most of my customers from Google anyways.
I'm working on the FTP portion to see if it can be altered to work better for Live. Right now it is virtually the same as the GBF.
Up my problem and show image.

I took your advice to make all the recommended changes. But I still couldn't get it to work. I did step 1 and the message is:

When I view my product feed file in Firefox at http://www.dealbyethan.com/feed/lps.xml, I received this:

whereas in IE7, it seems to work but at the end of the page, I have this:

Also, step 2 gave me this message:

I then signed in to productupload.live.com. I created a new catalog with the following details.
File type: product search XML (.xml)
Delimiter: left this unselected
Choose file upload method: through browser
I uploaded lps.xml through browser but I get this message:
Catalog rejected: Not in the expected XML format.
Correct the format, and then try your upload again.
Can anyone who got it working please help? I have been testing this for a long time with no luck still. Thanks in advance.
If you try the latest version on the Numinix site, you may find that it will solve problems for sites with a larger number of products.
Your feed is timing out and not closing the tags at the end of the file. I know you aren't using the latest version because I have removed image handler and your post shows an image created by image handler...
Hey I was wondering if anyone had an answer. I installed the MSN files fine and when I start the process to make the xml file it says all my 399 products were created fine. Then when I go to view the contents I am getting this error, I am wondering if is it because of the ampersand in the image file name. Thank you.
p.s. this seems to me that this is also why I cannot upload the file FTP to MSN Live? Thanks

It is a bug regarding images with spaces. I will fix this when I have time...
If you manually edit the feed file for that line and add % instead of the blank space, do you still get the parsing error for that line?

Otherwise, try with " " around the entire url.

What do you think?
Hey Num, I really appreciate your help more than you know. Do you think I will have the same problem if I use the Amazon feeder? Thanks
try to have the customer go in and change the image names but about half the products have spaces in them (the ones she did).
Read my post again. I said "%20". I originally said "%", but that is a mistake.
Anyways, you don't need to do this all throughout your store, just open the .xml file on your computer and find the first product that returns the error and change the spaces to %20. Then open the .xml in your browser and if you do not get the error for that first product, then we know that %20 was accepted by the XML parser. Then I will update the mod to replace all spaces in product titles with %20.
I see. Sorry I didn't think the 20 was important. Let me give it a try again tonight and I will let you know. Thanks man.
I have been using this mod for a few months and it has been working I had trouble with the ftp upload but got it to work, but that's when I only had 200 items in my store, but when I add 8000 items to my store now my file gets rejected by live and you get errors when you try to open it in a browser, I really don't know a lot about this any help would be great!

The latest version of this module has had no problems doing over 10,000 products with the MSU Add-on (which makes it even slower). So, if you are using the latest version, then it is probably due to a slow hosting service.
I am using the latest version, I'm not using a hosting service, the server is sitting in the same room with me and is having no performance problems, and why would the tags not be closed?
can I close the tags, and resubmit the file and if so how?
I have installed the latest version of this mod but I am not getting any results when I create the feed file. It is listing 0 products. I am using Google Base as well and I assume they both use the same feed file. Am I correct or what do you think is going on?

I say that because the mod actually uploaded my feed once. Only once. Windows Live hasn't let me upload it again since.

Yeah, it's not the mod. I can't get mine to upload either. I did it manually and after 5 days of being in the processes stage I contacted MS and asked them why it was still processing. Ok thanks for your help, just let me know.

Hey should I uninstall the other version and add this new one. Because when I copy and paste the SQL updates (first 1_0_3 and then second 1_0_5) when I go to the Install SQL Patches. I am not uploading the .txt file I am copying and pasting the text. When I do that I am getting an error:

It sounds like the key is already there. Have you tried using the uninstall SQL and then reinstalling it?

Dear Merchant,
Thank you for your interest in Live Product Upload Beta. Unfortunately at this time we cannot accept your catalog.
We have a number of specific content guidelines for submitting merchants and their catalogs, and we believe that your catalog or store fails to comply with those requirements.
For more information, see our guidelines: Content Guidelines

Here is an update: Still haven't had one accepted yet. A matter of fact, my account was totally blocked after that first attempt. I complained and was told that it could be copyright violations or formatting errors and that if your notified and it's not corrected then your account could be blocked. I told them that my account was blocked after one upload so I wasn't given the chance to correct anything and I make everything I sell so there is no way that there is a copyright violation.
They asked for a copy of my catalog file and it's gone all the way to the developers. They said, there software is still beta and was sorry for any inconvenience, but there was no time table as to when they will fix the issues I'm having.
I have given up on them. If your account suddenly gets blocked, don't expect any help from theme, after all "It's in beta".:censored:

This isnt directly related to the contribution but I thought I would pass this on in case anybody else from that insignificant place known as ROTW has suddenly found themselves in a similar position.
My name is Chris and I would like to respond to your resent inquiry regarding the blockage of your product upload account.
Unfortunately we are currently only accepting US EN merchants for our program. We appreciate your continued interest in Microsoft Live Product Upload and hope that you will join us as soon as we are able to offer the product in your market area.

I can't get windows product upload site to open at all. http://productupload.live.com/
Is anyone else having a problem opening the site?
I'm running IE7 and Vista:yuck: (which could be the problem.)
It worked for me using all 5 major browsers. Try this link:
