I'm not sure why IE is not working. It doesn't really say which file is not found, but it works in firefox. (i tried clearing my cache with no luck.) The feed does run in firefox, but i get 0 results?
Any thoughts?
Thanks Bridgett:smile:
Ok..so all is good in the configuration.....Create...no problems...Upload no problems...am I correct in saying this?
Now, if there is a problem within the first 24 hours...Google will happily sent you an email.
Did you check your Google Merchant account to see if it says searchable soon?
Try not to upload several times because it has to start the process all over again. Just try and upload every four hours or so.
Oh, you can use pagewash.com to clear for IE...but not to ruin your day but it does work in IE for me :D
Let me know your results.
Bridgett
I think it works! After I went to pagewash.com it worked:hug: Well sort of, it works for all of the products. If I try to include categories then it doesn't work anymore:no:
Is there a trick to including categories? I am trying to include the sub categories under fishing. So my category tree looks like this:
hobbies/fishing/baitcast-reels
hobbies/fishing/low-profile-reels
hobbies/fishing/spinning-reels
I tried: hobbies, fishing, baitcast-reels, and hobbies/fishing/baitcast-reels. none of those seem to return any products.

Google Base File Complete In 1.198359 Seconds 64 Records
The feeder doesn't seem to return very many fields: ID, price, and desc. To add more do you have to change the code or do it manually?
More importantly, a problem that I have is this: I use the product description section for bullet points. Then I use the review to describe my product. How can I add the user review to the feed(does that make sense)?
First of all, and it's your choice...you don't need to include Categories if you are using ALL categories. You can leave it blank. I left that blank.
If you are using quotations or anything like that...then you need to make some changes to google_base.php because Google will kick it back. Look at #1902 of this thread. And back-up before you do any changes.
Also, just a suggestion....change the name of your .xml file. It's custom for your site only.
The Google Feeder is for products listed in your store not for reviews.
Hope that helps.

1) I have to include some categories not all are uploadable, it is not a choice for me. I can't get it to work, any tips on how to include products?
2)Are you saying if I have a prduct description that says 64" x 15" x 5" that I will have problems becasue of the quotes or is that just for the title? I may have problems here thank you.
3)Since I use the zencart review as my product description, will I be able to customize the code to bring that into the feed? I could add a 2nd product description to the product input page but that would required programming as well and then i would need to tell the feeder to include both product descriptions. With custom programming can you improve what the feed pulls in?
I had the same problem that is why I am suggesting you change it. Or do this....VIEW your feeds and you will see that the 64" x 15" looks weird. Try that and let me know if it shows up.
On the Title DO NOT USE CAPS Google will kick it back.
Trust me on those two issues. I had to change them.
For the first time just to get it running, I kept my feeds to a minimum so I would not incur any problems with Google.
Hope that helps.
Bridgett
That does help, but I still need to include categories. I can't figure out how to do that.
You can include categories. I just did not. I just don't want to give an opinion on including categories because I did not. I included all of my categories but that's just me. Just try it and it may work for you.
If you just upload today...give Google a chance. Below is a link but add YOUR google merchant account number to check your feeds.
http://www.google.com/products?authorid=xxxxxx
Hope that helps.
I didn't upload my feed because it's not working yet.
I need to figure out how to include products, fix all the formating errors from symbols (like: - " &), and fix formating problems. I have formating problems becasue I use bullet points in my description so the base feeder runs the first and last word together.
I'm new to google base, but I was able to get a test product (manual feed) on the first page:yes: I am not sure if base feedeer can give me those results. If not, I have to pay for custom code. Does the base feeder include fields like: brand, product type, id, mpn? I hope I can use the base feeder, manual will be a problem.
I figured out the include/exclude. Use id # not name as it says in the description.
Does anyone know how to download the feed for editing?
Can any one help, I want to add the words "Free Shipping" to the beginning of the
in the output file, ie just before the main description text.
I know you will have to edit the googlefroogle.php
I know it is simple but cant seem to add a string to the begging of this output
Ie

FREE SHIPPING. main body text .

What the heck.. Thought might post a pic of my Google Base Feeder Configuration to see if anything stands out as being set wrong..
Products are getting uploaded to Google just find..
After several months of everything working just fine, just not getting listed within Google Products any longer.
http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/t...m/a_feed-1.jpg
Instead of trying to INclude only certain categories in your feed, perhaps what you need to do is to EXclude categories that should NOT be in the feed..
Yep.. That's exactly what she's saying. So you either need to fix your product titles and descriptions OR make the correction posted in this post http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showpo...postcount=1902
It's software.. Of course you can.. If you don't have the skillset to do this yourself, you would of course need to engage the services of a developer to help you with this.. I've had good success working with developers to create other such customizations for me.. (Working on one now and just finished up one for some custom mods I wanted for Super Orders..) PM me for tips on seeking out development resources if you're interested..
See response to item #2 on your list
Thanks everyone. I decided to upload my feed and see the result before I start altering the code (I did make the #1902 fix).
I have 2 questions first:
1) If I select PASV = fase I can stop the feed from uploading automatically. That is good becasue I want to edit the feed first. But now if I go to step 2, I get a 404 error? So is there a way to submit your feed manually?
2)How do you get your feed so that you can edit and upload it manually?
Thank you
Not for nothing, but if you take a look at the Google Merchant FAQ, they will help answer this question for you.. I could not ever get the FTP to work and it may have have lots to do with my clients host.. However since Google Merchant let's you upload the feed manually and schedule the upload from their site, I moved on and stopped trying to figure out why the FTP did not work.. My client re-generates her feed only when she adds product, and Google does the rest.
Yes.. I see you figured this out based on the screen shot you posted.. If INclude is blank the module assumes ALL. If EXclude is blank the module assumes NONE.. If you add specific category IDs (NOT category names) to either option then the module will INclude or EXclude those categories you specify.
Yep..
I don't get it.
When I search other peoples Google Products, they all have caps in their product titles..
I'll answer my own question, you can easily open the .xml doc in excell for editing.
New Question:
I uploaded a feed and it has 27 product, but only 10 are shown as searchable or searchable soon. since I just did this 30mins ago, does Google just need time to process the feed? I don't have any errors, so I thought all 27 products should be searchable soon?
I uploaded my first feed last night, then this morning when I woke up I noticed one of my competitors had beat all my prices. Has anyone had experience with this? Is there a program to monitor the prices of your products, I find it hard to believe that these guys could beat all of my prices while I was sleeping....
Does the feeder have an option for preventing items from being searchable through the API? Also does anyone use a competitor analysis tool?
If you make cPath for product url = true will it use the URL of your product as the category path? Is that where google wants you to say your tennis racket is: Sports > outdoor sports > tennis > tennis rackets.
So will that only work if your urls are SEO? Or if your Urls are alreadu SEO would this be redundant?
I've been having problems getting all of my products listed. I can generate a feed with 358 products, but Google only lists 208. I do get an XML formatting error - it doesn't say how many and I can't seem to find it. It shows one line - 4274 but I don't see a problem on that line.
I did correct the feed generator for quotation marks and ampersands. Would that cause the problem?
Any ideas?
Thanks
I have the google base add on and installed and when I try to run it i get the following. I'm not to sure of what my settings should be.
Google Base Feeder v1.7.4 started 2010/02/07 21:11:11

When I create my feed approx 600 items are not being added to the feed. I am getting no errors, also approx 200 are not imported on the google side but does not give me an error why they are not accepted. Can someone point me in the right direction I really need to get this working on a consistent basis.
Also, when I check by model number other companies who sell the product are being pulled up but I am not in the list anywhere.
I am using googlebase feeder and Sitewide Mark up. When I export my products to google base it uploads the cost of the product instead of the marked up price. Has anyone experienced this before?
Where is the google base feed located?
www.mystore.com/????
i cant seem to find my base feed?
what is the default url to get my feed?
please help
thanks
hmm im technically imparied.
installed feed but dont know where to tell google base to pick it up
is it txt or xml?
where is it???????????????
mysite.com/(where is the feed)
thanks
the feed is created and stored in the /feed folder. Google Base doesn't pick it up at this location, you send it to them either by ftp or by going to the Google Merchant Center and uploading the file.
Doesn't require any technical skill at all to locate the feeds or send them to Google.. jrennaker points you in the right direction as to where to locate the feeds..
I would also suggest that you re-read the readme instructions that come with this module.. Lots of information there.. also please read the Google Merchant FAQs as well.. All of this will give you a good sense of how this all works..
Will this work with Zen Cart 1.3.0.2? I've tried upgrading my cart to the newest version but have failed twice.
Does anyone know where to find the reasons that a feed was disapproved? My feed was found disapproved so I would like to know how to solve this and to know why. Anyone has good idea what it might be?
I have installed the Numinix Product Fields, UPC/ISBN Product Fields, and the Google Base. After several days of work I have product fields accepting UPC codes, I have Google Feed generating XML for Google Base, and I have Google Base accepting 100% of my items. This was big for me!
Now after all that, I have noticed that when I go in to edit a product or create a new product, the Date Available: field at the top of the page not longer has a box to enter a date in. The text for Date Available is still there, just no entry box. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to what could fix this or where exactly the code would be that would control this?
Thanks
Thank you. I was not sure which upgrade caused the issue. I will check the other two I installed to find a solution.
I did notice many users writing in with issues with Google Base not accepting 100% of their products when manually uploaded. Status shows 100 of 150 for example. I did not see many solutions to this posted. I found that if I change my settings in Google Base for the data feed file from Automatic detect encoding to UTF-8, all products were accepted. I didn't even have to reload the XML file, it just reprocessed the last one loaded to 100% status. I guess Google Base is having trouble autodetecting the encoding of the Google Base Feeder XML file. Hope this helps someone save time as it took me hours to make this discovery.
Is there any way to add support for the "part number" field? I believe this is important on google but its not supported here...
Regarding my earlier post for people who wish to get products featured in more than one Currency in more than one country (copy below)
I've managed to find a way to do this now, but it would be great if somone could advise how I can change settings or code to make this automated.
What I do is go to the following - Configuration>Google Base Feeder Configuration - and then change the currency from GBP to USD. Then I go to Tools > Google Base Feeder and click on 'Create Product Field' then after it is created, right click on 'View' and save the XML file, and this file contains all prices in USD not GBP. I then go back to Configuration>Google Base Feeder Configuration and change the currency back to GBP so the automated process will not be affected for UK target audience in GBP.
I then rename the XML file to the name I have for USD currency targeting Unites States on Google Base website, and then manually upload the file. And it works.
It look like I'll have to do this every month (if I remember!), unless somone can advise on how to get this automated ?!? :(
Quote:
I installed this great MOD before Christmas, and it works well. Also set up a Cron Job so that the feed is uploaded to Google base automatically.
This is my problem. Our website shows the prices in two currencies GBP Pounds £ and USD Dollars $. Our default is pounds, buty we also show the $ equivalent on every page. The Google Base Feeder creates a product feed with the prices in £, and this is uploaded auytomatically to Google base to a data feed Targeting the United Kingdom. What I want to do is create another feed with all the prices marked in USD, and upload it to another Google base data feed that has the target country set to the United States. If this could be created automatically and updated to Google Base like the GBP version, then great, but if not, does anyone know how to do this manually?
Thanks for your time.
I also have the problem of not having Admin>>Tools>>Google Base Feeder. It simply isn't there. I HAVE uploaded my files correctly (i.e., the renamed admin folder). Are there any other things that could possibly cause this issue?
Okay...I figured out that problem (old PHP version on testing server, I'm guessing, worked perfectly fine on live site). Now, I'm trying to figure out why I'm getting duplicate product listings in the XML file. I used Easy Populate to import the products.
Odd question here....I suddenly can no longer VIEW the feed in my browser. The feed should be located HERE but not sure why it no longer displays anything. The text is there in the physical file though.
Had a bit of weird message from Google Froogle Feeder Today.
I have using it for ages with no problems - until this evening. I uploaded my feed from zen cart as usual and then received an email from google.
Clicking on the feed status link says the below:
Prohibited word in attribute: description (6 errors)
Please check our Programme Policies and make sure that you are not submitting any prohibited items.
Learn more.
Examples:
Item Nr. Line No.
99 1,886
101 1,924
196 3,729
198 3,767
199 3,786
The thing being - my description field is the exact same for every single line? And why only start giving me a problem today?
Edit - the desctiption field simply says: Rich Tone Music Ltd - Online Guitar Store
Seems strange - and i'm baffled. Answers on a postcard please?
I had this same problem and it's because Google doesn't like special characters. The descriptions in my products, when I used Easy Populate kept adding something like Acirc; in it. I had to manually remove all of them using the find & replace in my text editor.
Yes - have been using Easy Pop today.
Let me have a look
Hmm....I looked in my upload sheet for EZ Populate.
One of the items that had an error had the following symbol in the HTML ' rather than a ' .
Having said that, the xml feed generated is displaying an ' as it should.
This is not in the feed description column either. Rather description4. So still doesn't seem to tally to what gBase is telling me.
What happens if you remove the hyphen from the description field that reads 'Rich Tone Music Ltd - Online Guitar Store'? I believe the general rule is alphanumeric only in Title and Description. Perhaps Google is counting '-' as a prohibited word...
Or perhaps they are counting that whole sentence as promotional text. Which is also not allowed because the description is supposed to describe the specific product...
Sorry - i meant to typewhich was generating an '.Code:'
Sorry - i meant to typewhich was generating an '.Quote:
& # 39 ; with no spaces ;0)
If that's in the the same product feed, Google only gives you a sample of products with the 'errors'. Mine said 8 errors, but in fact it was like 200+. :D
I have followed the install and everything appeared to be going ok. Installed the sql patches with no problems.
Install instruction 5. Go to Admin->Configuration->Google Base Configuration and setup all parameters;
The google base configuaration does not appear in the admin>configuration section.
I have the goggle base feeder under tools, but just can't get the config section to appear.
I had also renamed my admin folder as suggested by the zen security updates a while ago, so uploaded the files to the new folder name and not the default admin. Can this be the problem, or any ideas why i can't get the config option to display in my zen admin
I sorted the orginal problem with not seeing the config section. I had missed the php file in the root.
I do have another problem though.
When i try to create the feed i just get a blank page.
When i look at the feed folder there are no files apart from the index file.
I have checked that the feed folder is set to 777.
I am not getting an actual error message, but the feed is not getting created
I am having a problem. My feed is displaying free shipping on google products page. I have no idea where to fix this.
Some of the fields in the setup are very confusing and I am unable to find documetnation to explain what all of these are....
6) Go to Admin->Configuration->Google Base Configuration and setup all parameters;
Is there any detailed information about what these parameters should be?
When you go to the configurations page in your Zen Cart, do you see an item called 'Shipping Options'? I've got an older version of this mod, but mine is left blank. Our shipping is based upon actual UPS rates. I've set shipping options and costs from within my Google Merchant center. Also check your account there. Maybe it's a setting on Google's side and not Zen.
Yes there is a shipping options under google base i did not notice google base in your previous post. I dont know exactly what to put here though.
Is there some kind of guide for all the field? Some of these do not make sense to me like. that and well several others
"select shipping method" where?
I have that option under my google base feeder config and its set for per weight unit....
http://www.azcomputing.biz/feed/az-web_products.xml is a link to the feed generated

Hello guys,
i have updated my google bass feeder and every time i try to upload my updated feeds to google i only see that 450 out of 1000 of my products have been uploaded.. can anyone help me out on that?
Thanks
Google Base has done this to me a couple of times, but I just retry and it usually works the 2nd or 3rd time.
I have always had one product that doesn't work though. Every time I upload, I get 949 out of 950 uploaded, or 1099 out of 1100 (always one missing)...... It has to be an error in the output file.
I scanned through the file but nothing obvious there and for the sake of one ellusive product, I wouldn't spend too much time on it.
As for you missing over half your products, have you tried splitting your feed file into two seperate feeds? Perhaps Google doesn't like the size of your file. That would be the first thing I'd try.
Is there any way to get around the 15 character minimum description set in place by the feed? I've had a quick look at the google base requirements set by google themselves and can't see a mention of it so not sure why it's set as that in the mod?
Hello, When I go to create the feed file I get the following...
Google Base Feeder v started 2010/03/27 19:38:53

And it fails... Can anyone help.???
Thanks
Ok, so my whole weekend is gone and I have yet to resolve my googlebase feed problem. Can someone please help me.
I am having a feed code error: The following tags were not closed: rss, channel.
Line: 0 Character: 0
I have deleted the files and reinstalled the files and still get the same error. I also tried stopping the upload at 7000 still same error. Upload max product at 5000 still same error.
The feed usually contains 7200 out of 14500 products. Then when you try to view the file because I'm attempting to debug the problme I get the The following tags were not closed: rss, channel.
Line: 0 Character: 0
Also if I save the file to my desktop and try to view it, it opens through the internet and still get the same error The following tags were not closed: rss, channel.
Line: 0 Character: 0
Help Help Help...I'm so lost and confused!
I installed this and everything seems to work fine so far. My feed outputs fine and even uploads to google without errors. I can see that all 74 of my products were submitted without errors, but it seems as though the feed is blank within google. No products show up at all, clicking on my xml file wtihin google just says the following:
Feed status summary for domain_products.xml
71 of 71 items inserted - Processed on Mar 28, 2010 7:22 pm PDT

I have no active items, no inactive items... can anybody help?
Hi
I was wondering if this module will work with a showcase store with prices ?
thanks
Got problems with the latest Google datafeed Google keeps returning erros like no condition and no price when there is. I have a older version still on my site and the file it creates uploads no problem. I have compared the outputs of both versions and the only difference is this code is in the new versionCode:<g:product_type>
Religion
</g:product_type>
It is also stripping out the & as I have quotes in the ad titles egCode:<g:language>en</g:language>
<g:currency>USD</g:currency>
<g:payment_accepted>Visa</g:payment_accepted>
<g:payment_accepted>MasterCard</g:payment_accepted>
<g:payment_accepted>Paypal</g:payment_accepted>
<g:payment_accepted>NoChex</g:payment_accepted>
<g:shipping>
<g:country>US</g:country>
<g:region>*</g:region>
<g:service>Royal Mail</g:service>
<g:price>0</g:price>
</g:shipping>
It puts in the datafeedinstead ofCode:says quot; You
Code:says "You
Ok, so I didn't get any responses and I uninstalled and reinstalled the googebase app. Now I keep getting 500 errors. I notice that google is renaming my database feed file. For example, I just created a text_feed.xml file and it is trying to upload to google as test_feed.xml_products.xml (adds _products.xml to the end). This is not the file name that I save. How do I fix this?
Hello, 3/4's of my items are loading correctly to google base which I am pleased with, but is there a possible fix so I can load them all?
Thank you,
I'm currently using Zen Cart Version 1.3.8a and recently had my hosting provider complete a major server change/upgrade.
When I try to "Create Product Feed" I get the following error message:
Error opening google base output file "/home/xxxxx/public_html/feed/domain"
I have the chmod set to 777 for the feed directory.
Any suggestions on how to correct this issue?
I'm newer here. I have a Germany site. But I can't use the Google Base Feeder. Is it only for english?
Looking forward for your reply, thanks!
So my site grapediscounts.com is finally up. Working out some last minute tweaks and I went to go run Google Feeder for the first time and when I go to create the feed it just opens up my site in a separate window. Anyone know the cause of this?
i installed this add on on 2 sites, one of them i am having a problem opening the XML file, it says "The XML page cannot be displayed

Can you help me fix this?
I got the same problem when i started, then i played with the output file by replacing the & in the URL to & I also changed the encoding of the XML Document in the first line to

Now i am getting about 300 item listed but that is less than half of the items i want to list, Also i am wondering what encoding to use since i think my database encoding is missed up (It always show when i open the Admin page "This page is in Filipino. Translate it using google toolbar") even though all the text in English.
I also wounder if there is a way to have the & replaced automatically by & in the configuration?
This has probably been mentioned in the previous 200+ pages of this thread, but whatever.
My base was adding the attribute costs to my products even though there were some attributes that were free. It made my product appear to cost much more than others.
To fix this I changed /includes/classes/google_base.php line 468 from
toCode:$product_att_query = $db->Execute("select options_id, price_prefix, options_values_price, attributes_display_only, attributes_price_base_included from " . TABLE_PRODUCTS_ATTRIBUTES . " where products_id = '" . (int)$products_id . "' and attributes_display_only != '1' and attributes_price_base_included='1' and options_values_price > 0 order by options_id, price_prefix, options_values_price");
This allows attributes that have a zero cost to be used in the price calculations instead of the attributes that have an additional cost.Code:$product_att_query = $db->Execute("select options_id, price_prefix, options_values_price, attributes_display_only, attributes_price_base_included from " . TABLE_PRODUCTS_ATTRIBUTES . " where products_id = '" . (int)$products_id . "' and attributes_display_only != '1' and attributes_price_base_included='1'". /*" and options_values_price > 0".*/ " order by options_id, price_prefix, options_values_price");
 Well, i finally got a satisfying result.
Just in case the details may help others, here they come.
I had a few problems a long the way, some of which is invalid characters that i had to clean up, I added those characters to the Sanitizer function to have the done automatically from this point forward.
Now i have a clean XML file that i can open with my browser, i submit it to google and waited a few minutes, it came back with
0 of 979 items inserted
Unfortunately the documentation from google does not give you enough details to catch the errors of the bad words, so after looking for a possible solution i came a cross a thread that say the word "free" could be causing that, and sure enough it was, and after cleaning up my XML file from the word "free" submitted again and now i have
978 of 979 items inserted
I will check on the item that was not inserted but for now i think that is good enough. I hope this helps.
So I installed this mod, but when I click on 'create product feed' it re-directs the pop-up window to google.com ... ?
I'm currently using Google Base Feeder 1.7.4 for Zen Cart Version 1.3.8a.When I "Create Product Feed" I get 7000 products out of 8000.Where is 1000 products? How can I fix it? Thanks in advance.
Go to your admin/configuration/google_base_feeder_configuration
and set debug to true and see whats going on. Set image handler to false and see it that makes a difference. Make sure you delete the feed file from inside the feed file on root directory. You may have to keep playing around with it until it creates the whole 8000 products for you.
**DELETED**
Figured it out - so stupid!!!
thanks :frusty:
I just installed Google Base Feeder 1.7.4 on a 1.3.9a store. The store was just upgraded from 1.3.7. The Google Base Feeder was working perfectly in the old store. However, in the new store, every time I try to upload the file, I get this message:
Processing: Feed - No, Upload - Yes
Upload started...
Login failed:
Connected to: uploads.google.com
Upload failed...
I have checked and double checked the login info and it is correct. I set it all up over 24 hours ago, so everything should be working. I uploaded the file manually at Google and it worked perfectly, so it must be something in Zen-Cart that is causing the problem. I have seen previous posts where people had the same issue, but they did not post again so I'm not sure how the issue was resolved. If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it!
Thanks!
Hi
I have a google base feeder problem. My web created installed Google Base Feeder for me. Basically, she did steps 1-3 in the installer. But in step 6, when I go to set up the configuration, I don't see any options (there is nothing to set up).
I am using zencart 1.3.8. Can anyone help?
Also, is this where I should post this? I could not find a place to "POST a new thread". If someone can help me on this also, I'd appreciate it.
Linda
