Re: Dover Fine Responsive Template
Hi Anne
I anticipate using this template for one of my new websites (my boss was well impressed)
Is it easy to change the circle that the caption fits on to a rectangle? I have been looking at the code on the demo site, but I cannot identify where I can change this.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

If you read the readme.html file you will see that these are the banner titles you will set in the banner manager.
Thanks,
Anne

Re: Dover Fine Responsive Template
Hi Anne,
A am still trying to reduce my bounce rate, (Slowly but surely - I have already reduced it quite a bit ) , I think that another reason is possibly the same problem as " Simon 1066 " was reporting, here is what was shown to me and I replicated,
Attachment 14702
My menu throws right across the page, otherwise it performs ok, provided the user scrolls down the page
I strongly suspect this could be a culprit, . . . drilling down in analytics just shows the bounces as quite random and pre - dover fine I never had these high figures for bounce . . .
Do you have any ideas to control / prevent the menu from doing this ?
I left the analytics on to show the extent of the problem
Thanks in advance
Andy

I am sorry but I don't understand your question. Do you want to change the menu?

Re: Dover Fine Responsive Template
Hi Anne,
Sorry , the above is very poorly explained, here is a image of the home page,
Attachment 14706
As you can see the menu is to the one side, I have trimmed ( the length) and modified (the colours) of the menu substantially,(I really like the usability) and does throw out to sometimes three childs (sub-sub-categories). All the mods you see are me trying to get usability but mainly bounce down to where it was.
My bounce rate is still very high and I am Suspecting that my customers are taking their browsers off of full screen size and thereby causing the menu to throw across the screen as in the first image
That is why I posted asking if you had any Idea of where / how to prevent the menu from doing this under these conditions, I have noticed that on my phone, (android) the menu also performs the same way and you have to scroll below the menu to see the categories and /or products
Hope this makes more sense
Andy

No my focus is on reducing bounce, the fly out in the categories side box is working very well under normal conditions.
I think by high bounce is caused by the categories side box throwing across the page under abnormal ( reduced screen size) conditions as shown in the first image

The only screen resolutions that the fly out menu shows on is desktops, laptops, and landscape portraits. You can hide the categories sidebox on landscape portraits by editing the responsive_tablet.css file.

Hi Anne,
Ok . . . it took a bit of hunting but I think I go it. :yes:
I found " responsive_default.css " could be the culprit
The initial opening bracket was killing the code (a lot of the code was grey ).
As soon as the bracket was gone the flyout started to perform as supposed too. . . .
/*
@media (max-width:480px){
*/
became
@media (max-width:480px)
I must also mention that a long while ago I found an identical problem in another css, I keep record so if it becomes relevant I could look it up with the reason that I took the bracket away there . . .
Thanks for the hint I was definitely a stumped

I am happy that you figured out the problem. But, this is not a problem inherent in the template package. Also, the responsive_default.css stylesheet is only used for devices that are not detected by the php mobile detect script.
Thanks,
Anne

Hi,
I am new to zen cart and everything else but when I stumbled on this template I just fell in love with it and just had to use it. Thanks for the work and for making it available.
I love the home page and the menu but I would like a little more flare on the item pages. I would like to change the background from white to something like a picture or tiled background. I've look at many files but I have not been able to discover where this is accomplished. Can you direct me in the right direction?
Thanks

Hi, here is a bit of what you need (copied from my stylesheet.css) I suspect you will go crazy when you get into it :laugh:

Hi Anne,
I am now working on the Mobiles display css's and php's
I have to say that the "menu-collapser " / Menu Button is a great idea and really works Great . . :laugh::laugh:
I like the way the its menu works and the way it tucks back into the button after navigation:D
However the Categories flyout menu is just below it and takes up valuable real estate. Also, the customers always have to scroll past it to get to the content.
Do you have any pointers to remove this menu from the mobile section ?

Just turn it off in admin--tools--layout boxes controller. Turn off the categories sidebox at min-width.
Thanks,
Anne

Thanks for replying Anne. http://mythicalvape.com I'm just getting started with my site and have so much to do. I'm going to experiment with the file Andy suggested for awhile. I haven't look at code for over 30 years so this is all new to me but I'm having a blast.

Re: Dover Fine Responsive Template
Hi Ann
I have just installed the template on my test server. We have disabled the slideshow, but my boss likes the idea of having a background image of one of his products spanning the page in the same way the slideshow did.
So where the slideshow images cover the width of the home page, we would like the same but with a static image.
Is that easy to do?

Re: Dover Fine Responsive Template
Actually scrub that. It is easy to do. If anyone is reading this in the future eager for a solution, here's mine. Add to index_home.css:
Code:
#indexHomeBody { background: url(../images/yourbgimage.jpg) no-repeat fixed 0 0;
background-size:100%; }

You will add your image to the body tag in stylesheet.css. If you don't want the background image on the home page just remove it in the index_home.css stylesheet
Thanks,
Anne

Hello,
I have a couple of questions
I followed the directions from the quote above but would rather not delete the code so I can turn the slideshow back on at a later date. Is there a way to hide the slide show by commenting it out without the removal of the code?
I have tried both, in the banner manager, removal of the code. All I end up with is a blank page and the little circle running around becoming dizzy :)
How can I hide the "General Info" tab from appearing on the mobile devices and the tabs under this category?
When I enable "Currencies" from admin, it does not show on the site.
The "Custom Tab", how does one create another. I tried this in the banners manager but it does not show on the page. EG: Details, Description, Reviews, Custom Tab 1, Custom Tab 2
The "Custom Tab" In the "Read me File" it states you can add as many images as you like but when I added more than one. They went under each other rather than side by side. I just copied the html code that is already in the custom tab in the banner manager when I tried it.
Thank You :)

I worked out the currencies.
Other problems are: With the "Custom Tab" when this is enabled, the "Prev" "ALL" "Next" buttons disappear from the bottom of the page and go into the box of the "Custom Tab" how does one keep it on the bottom and not in the "custom tab"?
On the mobile: Its very sensitive, as soon as your finger touches the screen, you cant scroll it just clicks through.
I would still like to know how to hide the slideshow and the General Info tab please :)

My guess is that you have some bad coding in your product descriptions.

Just back up your tpl_main_page.php file and remove the code from your live file. If you need to restore your back up you will have it.
You can edit the includes/templates/override/templates/tpl_modules_mobile_cateogries_tabs.php file to make changes to the mobile menu.
If you wan to just create another generic custom tab then you can use the code that is already in the includes/templates/override/templates/tpl_product_info_display.php file as a guide.
You can add any code to the custom tab that you like. Of course, if you want side by side images you will need to use css to get the layout that you want.
Thanks,
Anne

I have tested the template package with 1.5.4 and there are no compatibility issues.
Check your logs for errors and correct them.

This means that the auto installer is not running properly. My guess is that you have not uploaded the admin side files of the template package.

Anne, this is by far the top free template I have ever seen for zencart. You did a perfect job with this.
I read through the whole thread and found some useful info about tweaking this amazing template, however,
I would like to ask for a little help :
I have changed the icons in the left pannel (as in our country we dont really use twitter, pinterest...ect), and
I decided to add there a FACEBOOK, LOGIN, SHOPPING CART and CONTACT US links.
All this is done, I just need when someone hover over the image, so it shows the hints (like facebbok, login or register, your shopping cart, kontakt us).
Attachment 14834
Please, could you help me with this? Just let me know what to write and in which file please.
Thank you very much.

Jeeeeeesus, how dumb am I ?!!! Should have figured it out myself?!! Instead I was looking through css trying to add display:none
Well....we learn every day dont we?
Anyway, I guess I messed up something. I know I might find the problem, but it will take me ages, so I will try to describe my problem, maybe you will know what is going on and you will point me to a file which is probably corrupted/missing/or whatever is with it...
When I create an order with COD option for payment, all goes fine and a success message shows up (index.php?main_page=checkout_success)
But when I create an order with MONEYORDER, after the last click it goes from (index.php?main_page=checkout_confirmation) to (index.php?main_page=checkout_process) where only a blank pages appears and nothing happens.
The order is written into database and I can see it in my admin area, also a customer receives an email about the order.
Just the blank page is annoying, I need this to show the same checkout_success page like when I create order with COD.
Please, could anyone point me to the right direction? I think I might have messed up something (uploaded my language, uploaded this new template, translated the required teplate files to my language), so maybe it was me doing something wrong...
Thank you very much for any help.
Regards,
Peter

Just the blank page is annoying, I need this to show the same checkout_success page like when I create order with COD.
Please, could anyone point me to the right direction? I think I might have messed up something (uploaded my language, uploaded this new template, translated the required teplate files to my language), so maybe it was me doing something wrong...
Thank you very much for any help.
Regards,
Peter
Whenever you have a blank page or part of a blank page check your logs folder for errors and correct them ;)
Thanks,
Anne

The javascript for the slide show is in the includes/templates/override/common/tpl_main_page.php. See the readme.html file for a link to the slide show used on the home page and more info about what options are available.

If a file is not already in the override folder, then you need to copy the file from the template_default to the override. The only files currently in override folders are those that were edited for the template.

This template package is using google's php mobile detect script to determine the user agent and then serve up the optimized layout. Portrait and landscape mobile phone layouts are controlled in the responsive_mobile.css file.

Re: Dover Fine Responsive Template
cheers, iv got a feeling the homepage slides may be a bit too large, could this push everything out of alignment ?, on the tab the menu is longer than the width of the page and runs underneath its self, the logo is also stretched lengthways.

Thanks,
Anne
Thanks for the reply but I uninstalled it and installed the Westminster template instead :) Its all good now thanks :)

The jquery slide show used for the background images should be automatically fitting your images to the width and height of the browser window. If this is not happening then maybe you did some modification that has broken this functionality.

Re: Dover Fine Responsive Template
Hi Anne,
Just updated to 1.5.4, the home page now only has the loading wheel running instead of loading the images. I also see that the Favicon has returned to Zencart. I don't feel like re-installing the template. Would this be an database override when updating the database? Or an override of one of the scripts when updating.
I have tried disabling and reabling the banners.
Tried the standard theme and then go back to Dover.
It has something to do with the home slide banner, because if I add another slide to the slideshow it works again, if I disable it, it gives the same problem.

Re: Dover Fine Responsive Template
I figured out that it was one of the images in the home slide that has disappeared from the server, causing the slideshow to try and load a image that doesn't exist.

Hi Ann
I was using the Winchester for a website,nowwe have opted for the Dover.
On the WInchester thread I was asking about setting up a custom tab for Technical Information http://www.zen-cart.com/showthread.p...25#post1267325. Can custom tabs beset up for the Dover in the same way? Please advise.
Many thanks

Re: Dover Fine Responsive Template
Hi Ann
A couple of pages ago in this thread, I was asking about just adding one slide to the home page. It does look good, but I have an issue:
I have set up the image to go straight to our product range, but in doing so, it opens up a separate window instead of the same one. How can I prevent this from happening?
-
Re: Dover Fine Responsive Template
Actually I have found it in the includes/templates/dover_fine/jscript/supersized.3.2.7.min.js file

Just change the setting in the banner manager to not open the link in a new window.

Anne

I am seeking a how to guide for setting up tabs, but if oyu know one thats comprehensive enough, then please do let me know.

Would a plugin like Product extra fields be an easier workaround?

If you want to put the additional images in one of the tabs, you can just add another tab, and then add the additional images code from the tpl_product_info_display.php file to it.
Thanks,
Anne

This is not necessary for the additional images.

Re: Dover Fine Responsive Template
Hi Ann
I have got the additional images working, I have got that configured ans except for a bit of styling, looks ok.
But where I am adding technical info is where I am struggling: I added a custom field so technical info can be added for each product. I followed http://www.zen-cart.com/showthread.p...82#post1270882 which works ok, but now I have tried to set it up for a <textarea> instead of a normal input field, the information seems to be getting disregarded by the system.
I tried:
Code:
<td class="main"><?php echo zen_draw_textarea_field('products_tinfo[' . $languages[$i]['id'] . ']', 'soft', '100%', '10', $pInfo->products_tinfo, zen_set_field_length(TABLE_PRODUCTS, 'products_tinfo')); ?></td>
MYSQL field is set up as Text, yes and null
I would be grateful of your help/ guidance in helping me resolve this. But if you feel this is irrelevant to the thread then please do feel free to remove this post. I have asked on the same thread but as its several years old, chances are it'll be ignored anyway! :smile:

Rather than adding new code, which lines deal with the text colour of the item name and item price?
I assume this is it?
.carouselTitle{width:95%;margin:0 auto;margin-top:20px;color:#171717;font-size:120%;line-height:18px;min-height:60px;border-bottom:1px solid #dbdbce;}
.carouselTitle a{color:#171717;}
.carouselDescription{text-align:left !important;width:85%;margin:0 auto;}
.button_buy_now{margin-top:20px !important;}
.carouselPrice{color:#171717;font-size:150%;text-align:center;}
.normalprice{font-size:80%;text-align:center;margin-left:10px;}

As with any of the template packages, any stable, properly installed plugin will work.

Sorry Anne I should have put more than I did. Yes it does work, however, as ZCAdditions site is down for maintenance and has been for sometime I had to do some thinking. You need to make sure that you rename the folder template folder to the name of your template for the footer to work.
After getting it working I have removed it as the look does not work for me, personal taste. I will be trying to install the footer used in responsive_all_business template, which if my memory servers my correctly is one of yours Anne.

No, I believe that the all business uses a plugin called footer menu and is not responsive so be sure to check if it breaks the layout on mobile devices.
Thanks,
Anne

Re: Dover Fine Responsive Template
OK you are right it does not work with a mobile phone. I will have to have a play with the one I mentioned and see if I can get it to do what I want it to do.

Re: Dover Fine Responsive Template
Just wanted to post a fix for a bug that I just found in the portrait tablet views. Remove these 2 lines (around line 98) in the includes/templates/override/css/responsive_tablet.css file:
Code:
ul.toplevel li.liTop:hover + li.close {z-index:200; width:32px; height:32px; left:-15px; top:-10px;}
.menu-collapser{top:10px;float:right;width:15%;}
Thanks,

Yes, it would be possible to have a full page video as a background. You can check the link for the current background slide show in the credits of the readme.html file and visit the authors site to see if the slide show will work with a video. If not, you can use some other jquery that has a full page video background and replace it with the current slide show.
Thanks,
Anne

Hello.
I started to fill up the store with products, and when I use attributes for a product, in a dropdown menu it shows like a part of code that should not be there.
Please see on the picture :
Attachment 15032
You can see between the attribute name and the price theres this part of code. Can you please tel me where exactly (in which file) should I look for it? I can fix this on my own, I just dont know in which file it is.
Thank you,
Peter

No, I have not worked on this. I would recommend taking a look at the background slide show plugin's page. You can find the link in the readme.html credits section.

Re: Dover Fine Responsive Template
Hello,
Thank you very much for this beautifull template.
I am restyling my website about remembrance beads and jewelry.
The new website (currently at www.meinestrade.com) loads fine and fast when using firefox, chrome, safari and opera.
In internet explorer however there is a problem. The slideshow doesn't load, the social media icons are distorted and many layout problems.
When I use the debugger in internet explorer it says it can't fetch the property "thumb" (it is NULL or undefined) in supersized.3.2.7.min.js, line 11 character 1120.
I really could use some help with this because this template is perfect for my website.
Greetings,
Paul
